O'Korn. And then Peters. Many wins. We will rejoice often and enjoy merriment and victory.

. . . East Lansing is a great place to raise kids (I have 4 of them). Small town, very good schools, distinct neighboods, progressive, relatively diverse, great community feel. Plus, MSU and most student housing is segregated. You can live there and enjoy the benefits of a large university (yes, even MSU has some) without the disruption of undergrad life. My wife and I lived in Ann Arbor for years. Loved it, but we prefer a smaller environment when it comes to schools, sports, etc.
|2 years 15 weeks ago||ot: schiano||
I know there's little love for Schiano around here, but I'm surprised he didn't land a job during this season's coaching carousel. I didn't even see him seriously connected to a job. That big of an ass?

screw Harbaugh. Hire Caldwell!
|2 years 18 weeks ago||TGIH||
Thank god it's Harbaugh!
|2 years 19 weeks ago||If . . . shudder . . . Harbaugh says no||
We clearly have no idea (beyond speculation) who fills out the Plan B list. But the public nature of this offer might change that population. I presume M will not be offering $8M to all candidates, I can imagine a scenario where -- say -- Stoops for example would have little interest in M for $5-6M, but might be calling up his agent for $7-8M.
|2 years 19 weeks ago||Good for him||
I think he could do very well there. And if he does, poor Pitt will be left behind again when Schiano moves on (Miami?).
|2 years 19 weeks ago||like christmas eve||
I'm more excited about the possibility of Harbaugh to Michigan than my kids are for christmas.
|2 years 20 weeks ago||"spread coach"||
So someone posted a rumor over at the MLive Michigan chat that during the Hacket/players meeting, he gave them a timeline for a new coach and also indicated that it wouldn't be a "spread coach."
Can anyone confirm this "spread coach" rumor is pure bunk?

get well soon!

I've been around forever with virtually no points. I should stop lurking and comment more.

|6 years 15 weeks ago||Hope ----> Doom||
Hoke's employment has changed Brian's commentary from one of hope to one of doom, frustration, and despair. Anyone care to guess on whether this new tone is permanent? Will Hoke every sway Brian? Or will Mgoblog now serve as Hoke's critical foil?
I love this blog and this community. But I'm mildly concerned about where "we're" headed given Brian's open, obvious, and long-standing loathing of Hoke.

He may be a scoundrel, but he's *our* scoundrel.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||gruden||
Until I hear Gruden mentioned as a candidate from someone real (not a single questionable tweet or that pigskinguru guy), I will continue to view his candidacy as a myth. Even Brian's comments on Gruden seem to be coming from "buzz" -- which I take to be general internet chatter rather than credible sources.
|6 years 28 weeks ago||wouldn't necessarily go that far . . .||
. . . but would say that the refrain heard not that long ago of "go to the best law school you can get into" shouldn't be blindly followed. For most people, cost and debt matter and can impact your life and career options for a long long time. Of course, my career and educational path are testaments to the fact that life often gets in the way of the most rational planning . . .
|6 years 28 weeks ago||Good grades, a good LSAT, and||
Good grades, a good LSAT, and a good life story will get you pretty far with admissions.
Now, let me be a giant downer and ask: what exactly do you want to do with your law degree? Because if the answer is anything other than get a federal clerkship, work for the DOJ, or practice BigLaw in DC, Chicago, or the Coasts, then I'd think long and hard before going to UM (and let the negging begin!). That is, if you want to stay in Michigan or practice in smaller markets, you can go to a number of other law schools and -- as long as you do well -- be very successful.
I went to UM undergrad and law, broken up by a half decade of work out west. I wanted to practice in Michigan. A UM law degree opens a lot of doors. But if you want to stay in Michigan, you may find that other options are worth exploring -- especially if those other options come with significantly less debt.

Although he transferred out a year later. So maybe he doesn't count.

Have yet to meet an MSU fan, alum, etc that doesn't think Dantonio will be on the sidelines Oct 9. Already hearing the talk of the emothional lift his return will have on the team. Yawn.

Forte and Foster are going to outperform their ADP. In fact, Foster may well end up a top 10 back, but you can get him for much cheaper than that.
Unless you have your heart set on Rodgers or Brees, you should probably just wait on QBs. You can get a top 10 QB after the halfway point of the draft.
|7 years 7 weeks ago||not so bad||
I had one a few months ago. You get lots of happy pills. That's nice. But when they say take it easy for a few days, LISTEN. I didn't and my recovery took a bit longer. And taking your kids to a UM basketball game, sitting in the very top row, and having to run to and from the concourse a half dozen times because your kids can't synchronize their potty breaks is NOT taking it easy.
|7 years 26 weeks ago||Radio||
DId you listen to his 1st quarter bit during the game? How could you listen to that and NOT think that they were going through the list of all the issues Lloyd wanted to address. Sorry, but that sounded perfectly scripted. You didn't get that?
|7 years 26 weeks ago||No conspiracy theory, but . . .||
. . . anyone else get the impression that the only reason Lloyd broke the silence is because Bill Martin and/or Mary Sue sat down with him and said "enough already, make a few rounds and try to silence all these Leachesque rumors?"
|7 years 26 weeks ago||Disappointing.||
Presumption from many on this blog is that Michigan spent both this week and last (Delaware State) preparing for this very game. I hope that wasn't the case. Talent gap or not, if you have 2 weeks to prep for a team, you should show better than we did yesterday.

It took a month or two after I signed up before I got an invite. Doesn't look like I have any invites associated with my account, otherwise I'd send it one.
On a similarly note, anyone have a google wave account yet?
|7 years 27 weeks ago||East Lansing?||
Is there such a thing as a UM friendly bar in East Lansing? I haven't found one yet, but I'd like to. I'm usually left to a small muted TV in the corner while the other 40 TVs at Reno's show Sparty.

Just finished a pumpkin ale I brewed a a month or so ago. Thinking I'll grab a brown porter next.
