If you think Michigan is going to likely lose the opener, its really hard to take the over on this. I have them winning 9 regular season games, probably the B1G, and possibly getting to 10-4 or 11-3. Lowest expectations are set at a 9 win full season, including their crap bowl game in that scenario. A senior Denard and a rock solid secondary / LB core should be able to deliver that, even with developing lines and no jumpball hawking Junior Hemingway. Especially with a coaching staff that has done nothing but vastly exceed every rational expectation since getting on campus and players who are no longer new to the offense and defense systems.

Does the defense still have big issues? Yes without a doubt. Having said that the defense just held SDSU to 7 points on 14 (!!!) drives (13 if you do not include the end of half drive). SDSU had scored at least 21 points in its previous 17 games. The 2010 Michigan defense does not hold SDSU to 7 points. It probably does not hold SDSU to 24 points.

Its even harder to keep edge contain when you are blitzing inside and there is that pulling guard to block you. I think this is strong RPS here. |
