Everyone on this board wants to believe that is true (myself included), but then again that's what everyone says when a medical hardship is signed. Unbiased logic makes me skeptical about true motivations.

Were you given a scholarship in 2012 to play football at the University of Michigan? Your second sentence should read "if Pipkins is unable to play UP TO THE CURRENT STAFF'S STANDARDS, then he shouldn't." The article clearly says that Pipkins believes he is able to play up to his own standards. Sorry to be blunt but that is the main point of contention.

I second this. Let's not jump to assume this is deeper than it is. I don't like us trying to defend this just as much as I don't like what Urban and the SEC do to kids two years into the program. Pipkins wants to play...that should be where we stop reading. Sorry to Pipkins and I hope this does not become a trend.

I can't imagine what Harbaugh will put kickers through in terms of constant competition/mock stress and mental exercises (since a lot of kicking is mental). Harbaugh seems to like testing the mental side of football players.

I work in asset management and have the opportunity to buy Toys R Us debt if I thought it was the right investment for a particular mandate. I can say without a doubt that this is very generous for the position and the financial health of Toys R Us. Bain is paying Brandon based on his previous experience with Valassis Communications and Domino's and those are both very different tasks than turning a struggling retailer. I'm happy Dave Brandon is still in a position to be a major donor to the University if he hits his long term incentive payments but I do not expect that to happen. Bottom line $8mm per year to babysit a decaying business is generous.
I'm not happy about his tenure as AD, like all of you, but remember that in his post-AD career the University and athletic department stand to benefit if he makes a lot of money and remains a donor.

My kids are going to hate me now that I will put a self imposed ban at Toys R Us. Poor children...collateral damage of my strong willingness to hold a grudge.

People disagree all the time. I think they are still pretty civil about it, even though they clearly aren't budging regarding their points of view. There are some extremely polarizing events that affected both of them over the years (cough, cough...Ed Martin). And I could see Weber not wanted to touch that issue in the documentary based on how Jalen was going to film his point of view on it.

|20 weeks 4 days ago||Weber||
I think Weber probably acted rationally. It's not unreasonable to think the staff said something like, "we've got a spot for you at RB and we really want you". When another RB commits, he pauses and says, "was I really the only RB they wanted like they said". I thought the diary post on Higdon was excellent and helps out the Weber timeline of his "surprise" by Higdon's commitment. It's not the staff's job to tell Weber that another RB is interested in them, but it seems like if they communicated it Weber before the announcement, he may have respected that...but then again, who knows...it could have turned him off. Only Weber knows and now he is enrolling at OSU. Recruits seem to make very questionable decisions year after year but at least I think I can follow Mike's logic and why it appears to have been a tough decision for him.

He'd probably do the same thing now that he is older. Most athletes don't realize that change is necessary until after the fact. Now I'm pulling for Manziel to come out the other side.

Bursley had a cop that was so hot our floor got her to hold two handles of liquor in uniform and we made t-shirts out of it. Top floor of Douglas. She was not a very good security officer.

South Bend or Bend, Oregon? There are ski resorts in Bend, Oregon so that's probably not the best idea.

What a Debbie Downer (for them)! I would hate to see what she would write after OSU played Cal Tech in anything. This is from Cal Tech's website:
Graduates who go directly into the job market are usually courted by a wide variety of organizations, many of whom recruit on campus. The average starting salary for our 2013 graduates was $82,000.
