yeah

She looked like she landed right on her head.

Walk into the locker room

Have the guys gather around. Point at each one and tell them how much I care about them maybe clap a few times just to emphasize that point. Lead them all in a round of The Victors. Walk out. I've done all that I can do.

I disagree

1) It's not the same players because a) every upperclassmen who played last year is now a year older - that experience is not insignificant, b) we have several players that were not available last year, like Morgan, Ryan, and Countess, that are making contributions this year and c) we are a lot more healthy. As evidence I present a comparison - last year's starting secondary for OSU: Freshman Avery, Kovacs, Vinopal, and James Rogers vs. This year's starting seconday for OSU: Freshman Countess, Kovacs, Woolfolk/Gordon, Floyd. Yeah same players.

2) Again, just about everyone on last years offense is now playing on this years offense. They are expected to be better based on the acquired experience alone. They weren't. It's hard to say that last year's offense wasn't good against big ten teams when last year's offense basically had to score on every possession because the defense was such a disaster. Put this years offense on last year's team and we don't make a bowl game.

LMAO at "the minute Lloyd left"

Yeah. The minute Lloyd left our defense sucked because his shitty recruiting classes from 2005-2007 didn't do anything to fill the void left from the earlier classes that led to the great 2006 defense. Yeah, our shitty D coaching didn't help things over the last three years, but it's just amazing to me how people can scratch their heads and go "Wha Happen?"

The official score ruled it as

a muffed kick, ball dead where Michigan recovered the ball, the 14 yard line. There was no return. There was no fumble.

I disagree

It would be telling if the violations happened at WVU, were caught, and then RR continued those practices despite having been punished previously. Like Kelvin Sampson at IU.

It would also be telling if the violations did't take place at WVU but did at Michigan as it would be indicative that Rodriguez received adequate compliance while at WVU and knowingly changed his practices when he came to Michigan. But that's clearly not the case and infact the violations occurred under two different coaching staffs.

Who cares about the CARA forms? I guess if you don't care that the purpose of the compliance department is:

"to maintain control of its athletics programs through the responsible administrators, faculty, and institutional bodies; to educate coaches, staff, student-athletes and other individuals involved with the athletics program in their institutional responsibilities under the rules; to develop operating systems within the athletics department and the University that provide guidance in how to work within the rules; and to discover and report any violations of the rules that occur."

then yeah, who cares? The lack of CARA forms and general compliance/Brad Labadie ineptitude shows that Michigan's compliance department only struck out on 4 out of those 4 semi-colon separated mission charges.

And while it's true that the violations only took place after Rodriguez took over (not sure how meaningful that statement is because if I remember correctly we never investigated the seasons prior), it's also true that we never had a newspaper dramatically overexaggerate the occurrence of major violations during the pre-Rodriguez years. If after all that they only found 15 minutes of stretching and some non-coaches watching 7-on-7s and conducting film sessions, then they certainly would have found something, especially with our piss poor compliance department and football administrators at work.

Hill's piece

is a strawman

"..he's had three years to recruit.." I can't stand this meme. Rodriguez has had 2 full recruiting classes and one where he had basically a month to come in and keep the kids we already had and possibly add whoever he could find that wanted to come to Michigan. For the most part, Rodriguez's recruits are essentially still sophomores and freshmen. Expecting something out of these guys at this stage, other than the occasional guy who's surprisingly ready, is totally unrealistic.

In the words of The Dude

Oh far out man..far fucking out

Name Change

The Michigan R.O.U.S's

Didn't think they existed.

I highly doubt that

I highly doubt that we're getting the short end of the stick in terms of money and the number of players we can bring.

The most annoying part about this is that we have to wear our road jerseys.

Oh

Oh wide open...

eeee

eeee i'm a little girl for mike barwis

#9 is 8 spots off

To me that will always be the worst play ever. That game produced the most epic alcohol-induced-postgame meltdown of any Michigan game that I can remember. So much so that every bad loss since has been almost a walk in the park.

Felt the same way

Made me sick to my stomach to see him talk about when he committed to Michigan. You knew how much it meant to him.

He should

The idea that this creates "dangerous precedents" is just nonsense.

Err, No. He's not a silent commitment.
Fuck Toney Clemons Seriously. This "helping his teammates out" line is a bunch of BS. He's bitter about what went down after Carr retired. He obviously doesn't like Rodriguez and is talking to try and get back at him. Period. To top it all off, it's obvious he has no idea about the actual NCAA rules, as Brian has already talked about. So he was at Schembechler Hall until late, wow big deal. If he really wanted to help his teammates he would simply shut up.
Seriously? Do you really think Rodriguez all of a sudden changed the way he runs the program when he got to Michigan? Of course he didn't. He's doing exactly what he's always done, and what I'm sure a large number of programs in the country do. These "voluntary workout" rules are a joke. And the reason why you haven't heard about it until now is because the local media at WVU doesn't have such an obvious agenda against the University like the Free Press does with Michigan. One would have to be a fool not to have noticed it by now.
AVG I use AVG http://free.avg.com/
Plunder? I don't think taking 5-6 kids from the state in the last decade really amounts to plundering. Anyway, I'm not really worried about his ranking. If I may use the cliched phrase, the kid fits the system. Besides, he's a good student and seems like a good kid so even if he doesn't come in and light it up, it's still a plus for us. At some point we're going to need backup players too.
Wow I agree with every word of this post
Michigan State? Michigan State, a week after getting thoroughly destroyed by Ohio State, moves up 11 spots after beating a 2-5 team? Am I really reading that right?
On the rankings

Most of the kids from the '04 class who contributed anything whatsoever are gone or are now on D. Every single O-lineman from that class never amounted to anything.

As for the '05 class, that class is one of the most overrated/star-crossed classes in recent memory. 10 out of the 23 kids aren't even on the team. The OL's are just now getting their first significant minutes. How anyone could look at this class and say it is a Top 10 class is just beyond me.

Schadenfreude Well Brian's 'This Week in Schadenfreude' column will be pretty easy to pick out.
