Everyone so excited 30 minutes and now we won't even finish 3rd in the big ten. Give me a break. Let's see how we finish. 1 of 35 games this year. |

Hopefully this helps on the field/boundary corner debate. The boundary is more often than not your best 1 - on - 1 defender against the pass. This also depends on what kind of personnel packages you are seeing. 10 = 1 back - 0 TE / 11 = 1 back - 1 TE / 21 = 2 Back - 1 TE and so on. vs. 21 personnel (I formation type packages), teams will formation the field more often than not, leaving their best WR(the SE) to the short side. You want your best DB to be locked on him. If he is really good, it lets you play different games with your boundary safety, getting him the run game or doubling that kid on passing downs. vs. 10 and 11 personnel, Michigan will usually get into what they call their "sub" package. This is where the nickel comes in for the SAM. In our case, our SAM will become a rush end and our 3 tech or 1 tech will come off the field. We usually play 3 techs on both guards in the sub package. Again, more often then not, teams do not put trips to the boundary. You have more help to the field for the field corner if they are running any 3 x 1 or 2 x 2 sets. The boundary is put more on an island in either set. You want your better pass defenders to the boundary to erase that side of the field and make them throw to the wide side where there is more help. You can say the field corner has more space to cover, but usually has more help. In my experience, it is much easier to play the field side and the boundary side. As a coach, our boundary is by far our best DB and our field corner can be the superintendant's kid. Does this help? |

I actually agree with some of this post. I am a very casual NBA fan. I was playing some backgammon and decided to turn on ESPN for some background, early finals background noise. After 5 minutes, Stephen and Skip came on and the TV went off. Turned on the game right before it started. |
| 1 year 3 weeks ago | It is a matter of right and wrong. |
When you are one of the most recognized sport teams in the world, on a national stage, in the biggest game of the early season, you NEED to make sure your "brand" is represented in the best way possible. This is huge for recruiting, growing the fan base, and the perception of the conference in which we play compared to the SEC. All of these things are impacted, even if slighty, positively with the band being there. Our program is much to important to say we can't afford 400,000 to send our band. Ridiculous. |

Is when he says there is a heavy blitz on the Williams interception. They brought a whopping three man pressure on the play. Only the best and brightest at Notre Dame. |
| 1 year 5 weeks ago | Corrections to look for |
1. Bolden at linebacker is right with the ones. He is most certainly an every down 2. He has practiced with the ones in their heavy/short yardage/goalline pkg. 2. Talbott has been with the 1's most of the time with Floyd backing him up. 3. Avery is the nickel which is just as important as the Sam because of all the spread stuff we see now. In my opinion, the nickel should be listed as the 12th starter. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | I believe |
They think he has added the weight a little too fast. I like Demens, but I wouldn't be surprised to see either Morgan move to the mike and have Bolden take the will or keep Morgan at will and have Bolden get mike reps, which is what happened today. Bolden is undoubtedly going to be a stud. Ross and Jenkins-Stone haven't hit campus yet. Ryan was a great surprise last ear and he already looks much better physically. If you can't tell, I am completely jacked up about the improvements Wellman and the S & C staff have made. |

Not practicing right now...for what reason is a bit of a mystery, but he was not in pads. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Agree completely... |
I was surprised to see how much ass Morgan has added. This should probably be talked about in a new thread, but the difference in the physicality is huge from last spring to this spring. They will be smaller up front, but much more physical at the linebacker position. I also liked the combo of Beyer/Clark at the rush and Ryan/Gordon at the Sam. |

I meant Hawthorne |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | From practice |
I would not be surprised, with 5 months to go, if he takes 1st team reps from demens or Morgan. He is most certainly big enough to play at big ten level right now, but probably not every down yet. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Yes |
Demens hurt his thumb or something on his hand. It was in a wrapped soft cast. Demens and bolden took first team reps with Morgan. Bolden is also part of a jumbo package. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Joe Bolden |
Joe Bolden is the real deal. Looked awesome for an early enrollee this weekend. Watched all three practices and he was very good - way ahead of ringer, Poole, fitzgerald, and jones. Demens looked decent, Morgan looked a little too heavy, but also good. |
| 1 year 16 weeks ago | Confusing?? |
Knowing how Hoke recruits, I would say he guaranteed Reeves the opportunity to play early, which he gives everyone he recruits. I would make the guess Reeves has this one wrong. Just my thoughts. |
| 1 year 16 weeks ago | Stunner |
This is really surprising he is staying. Interesting development...no way Big Phil would let Chip get away i guess. |
| 1 year 16 weeks ago | In means... |
Sorry for any confusion. In means a part of this years recruiting class. Sounds line someone new may be signing. We will see as this is going to be an exciting week. |
| 1 year 16 weeks ago | Thank you |
Thanks for the update aquaman. Hopefully you are right about your feelings on this one as I like Garnett a lot. I believe Michigan will pull one surprise on signing day as well. Coming from a good source, someone off the radar may be in. |
| 1 year 16 weeks ago | Just out of Oregon... |
Sounds like he simply wants to go to the NFL. He had an interview with the dolphins before they made their hire. Players found out about the buccaneers deal today around three. Consesus among duck players is that it will be done soon. Hold on to those hats in Eugene...they could have quite a few players decommitt or leave. |
| 1 year 16 weeks ago | Reeves yes, Diamond...??? |
I am glued in on Reeves. Having Mattison be the last visit is big, but Urban is a good salesman of things "Bucky". I do not have great feelings about Diamond. I don't understand his recruitment. We all know he does have a favorite, but he can't say which ones are ahead of others. He also is waiting until after signing day?? The last recruit we went after who did this was Pryor I believe. His was much longer, but I don't have a good vibe from him. |
| 1 year 16 weeks ago | Get through urb's visit |
We need him to get through Meyer's visit. Mattison can work magic, but he has to have the chance. It sounds as though Reeves will not make a decision until after all visits, but I am still nervous about it. |

TE had a chance to win on a nice throw from Flacco earlier. He may even be a bigger goat than cundiff. The second fumble helped lose the game in overtime...the first fumble put the game in overtime. |
| 1 year 17 weeks ago | Ohio recruiting |
It is easy to say Ohio's recruiting class would not be nearly what it is without the PSU situation. Ohio is flourishing from that just like we flourished from Ohio's "tatgate" |
| 1 year 17 weeks ago | Oh man, |
This is wrong on so many levels. This kid is only 18 and he is being wronged by a lot of people around him. None of us know what his support system is like in terms of siblings, parents, coaches, etc..., but where are the people around him saying something about this stinks. How does Saban sleep at night. Someone should follow this story and see what happens next year. For Saban, he may not want the kid, but he doesn't want someone else to have him even more. What a dissapointment Saban is in the coaching profession in terms of character. |
| 1 year 17 weeks ago | Great Class |
It will interesting how this class ends up. I am really excited about having true blue chip prospects coming in, but I am more excited to see some of the three star guys develop. I think the coaching staff has done a fantastic job finding kids of the three star variety who have big time "potential." |
| 1 year 17 weeks ago | No Question |
There is no question about DT's off the field issues. It is a pretty well known rumor his off the field issues have not stopped, having a negative effect on the team the last two years. For Oregon, it is probably a good thing they lose Thomas and James. This reminds me a little of losing Manny Harris early. A lot of people thought he should stay, but it was most certainly better for the team when he left.

They scare the hell out of me when I am picking against Iowa. It is amazing, but I am still nervous about this game costing me 30 points. |
| 1 year 21 weeks ago | Dan Gilbert |
Okay... I have to get this off my chest responding to someone actually saying they like how Dan Gilbert trashed Lebron. When the owner, after "the decision", comes out and talks about trying harder to win a championship because Lebron leaves means one thing to me. He obviously didn't try as hard as he could when Lebron was there. I didn't like how things went down, but when Gilbert admitted he didn't try as hard as he possibly could when Lebron was on the team, Lebron was completely off the hook. Gilbert is an idiot. How did the same team minus one player do last year? |
| 1 year 46 weeks ago | Truth is |
There were less than 10 guys that could bench 225 20 or more times when Hoke took over. I don't care who the person was before, that is unacceptable. Regardless of philosophy, that is unacceptable. |
