Did you all actually watch the video? It's a new one; it's not the same one from earlier in the week. The OP didn't directly link to it (direct link is HERE). Check it out.

EDIT: Beaten by a minute by the unstoppable force that is Ron "Michael Scarn" Swanson.

Oh, I've been around. I had a really busy stretch last year and didn't have time to check the board for a while, and then just kind of slipped into lurking mode until recently. It feels good to be back; kind of like how an alcoholic feels when he falls off the wagon.

Can't help but notice several of the i-form running plays getting absolutely stuffed...it was nice to see Bolden stick V. Smith around 1:30 in the video, tho. Great tackle. But again, WHY is Vince running out of that formation?

Joe Bolden is the real deal. Looked awesome for an early enrollee this weekend. Watched all three practices and he was very good - way ahead of ringer, Poole, fitzgerald, and jones. Demens looked decent, Morgan looked a little too heavy, but also good.

I wouldn't say Bolden isn't big enough to play.  He's listed at 230 now, and this is before he really starts a college S&C program.  He could be 235 by fall, maybe more.  That's not too small.  It's not ideal, but for a good player, that's doable.  Morgan started most of the season at WILL last year at 220, and those spots aren't that different.

I was surprised to see how much ass Morgan has added. This should probably be talked about in a new thread, but the difference in the physicality is huge from last spring to this spring. They will be smaller up front, but much more physical at the linebacker position. I also liked the combo of Beyer/Clark at the rush and Ryan/Gordon at the Sam.

They think he has added the weight a little too fast. I like Demens, but I wouldn't be surprised to see either Morgan move to the mike and have Bolden take the will or keep Morgan at will and have Bolden get mike reps, which is what happened today. Bolden is undoubtedly going to be a stud. Ross and Jenkins-Stone haven't hit campus yet. Ryan was a great surprise last ear and he already looks much better physically. If you can't tell, I am completely jacked up about the improvements Wellman and the S & C staff have made.

At the end of the video, Denard barely gets touched and they called him down but he would have taken to the house if they were going real. His passing is looking better too and he is much more decisive when he gets the ball. Last year I though he hesitated too much and that got him in trouble. Good video.

What.. was that play? (At the very end of the video where denard took off) It looked like play-action bubble-option? Because Denard made the play-fake, rolled out, and then pump-faked a bubble screen and then took off, but he had offensive linemen blocking in front of him, indicating some sort of designed QB run or bubble-screen. This type of play would be absolutely lethal with the athletes we have at WR + Denard. I like.

Not to pick nits, but relatively sure that was the tunnel screen we saw very frequently last year, which is why Omameh was out so wide.  Think it was a broken play as Ryan jumped in front of the route. So Denard wisely tucked, and Omameh and Jerald Robinson (the original intended receiver) just released downfield.  Regardless, a good read and nice pick up by Denard.

1) Are the highlights of the scrimmages just going to be good plays done by the offense for the most part? Do they just assume we don't want to see good defensive plays and just want to see big offensive plays?

2) What's the difference between what we saw here and a spring game?  Because they're still tackling, they're in pads etc...The only difference is tagging the QB?

1. Last year this is what the videos looked like, too.  It's part of The Fort.  There's a reason that all the videos are close-ups.  The coaches don't want too much info getting out there.

2. The QB won't get tackled in the spring game, either.  Essentially, the spring game will be exactly what you saw here.  It's just that it will be at Michigan Stadium in front of several thousand people.

Notably absent from all highlights thus far - Bellomy. Unless I've missed something.

Also, DG still has that shot put motion on this throw. Looks funny.

I wouldn't read too much into it.  Bellomy is the third string quarterback.  When you only have 10-12 highlights or so, why would a video editor/coaching staff waste time showing the third stringer that most fans probably don't care to see?  The average fan wants to see how "superstars" Robinson and Gardner, not a guy who won't see the field this year (unless there's a blowout, injuries, etc.).

Notably no footage of Garnder at WR in either video. Is it becuase he isn't out there much or becuase the coaches are trying to keep it on the hush-hush within the Fort?

Fitz is looking more and more like a future NFL back.  He has that one cut and go burst, good quickness and moves, not top end speed but pretty close to it, and he runs physical too...he reminds me a little of a Terrell Davis type.  Fitz should get 1500yds this year with a dozen TDs...

edit ... upon watching these clips again, man is Fitz smooth...he is a very graceful runner too, but in a physical way.  Its a good combo.  Guess Im now a huge Fitz fan.

The whole team looks good.  I think Gallon is an amazing player.  The grabs he makes in those videos, for someone his size is incredible.  He is a great player regardless of size.  It was great to hear from Elliott Mealer too.

Ricky Barnum looks pretty solid in there at Center...he is another guy who will be playing on Sunday next year.

In that run by Rawls where he cuts back, he shows nice nimble feet for a big guy ...and poor Quinton Washington was left to do a big hand clap of air as Rawls ran by... and made some safety pay too at the end of the run.

It looked like 57 Frank Clark was dropping back in coverage on that Michigan Boot Waggle pass to the TE, maybe he didnt get deep enough or the TE got loose from a LB underneath, couldnt see from that angle.  Regardless, I like those zone blitz concepts that Mattison uses.

Both Bolden and Morgan look like tackling machines out there.  Bolden in particular seems to really put the stick on runners and stops them cold.  Both guys should be fun to watch for the next few years in the middle.

sorry so long.. but this is the off season ...

Based on this video, I think we're going to be all set at RB for the next couple years.  Both Fitz and Rawls look strong.  LB should be all set too, those guys are all over the field.

Also - Mealer has a real man beard.
