Today was the first game I…

Today was the first game I attended in person all year. I took the wife and kids. Seeing the defense in person made it abundantly clear that a change needs to be made. Looking up the defensive efficiency rankings today, we are ranked 340 out of 368 teams. For those that are afraid of change, how is this acceptable?

I thought Howard did a good job keeping the recruits we had coming in under Belein and keeping things together the first year or two. Year after year the numbers just get worse and worse.

Today, watching Nebraska's offense get whatever they wanted all day and running simple stuff was shocking.

I feel like this team has no accountability and it starts with Howard. He has to go.

This is the worst basketball…

This is the worst basketball team at UM in my lifetime. Warde needs to  launch Juwan out of a canon. He destroyed an elite program.

What a terrible season. I…

What a terrible season. I grew up watching the fab five. Had the shoes when I played as a kid. Hoped it would work with Juwan. This program year, after year trends the wrong way. Just look at the defense. This isn't like Jim's bad year as an outlier. It's not getting better. It's getting steadily worse.

Why is a guy that's shooting 62% overall and damn near 60% from three getting 12 mins a game on a team with 8 wins? Who is the better option at this point? Why not run him and design some plays for Tschetter? Anyone have an answer why not? Is it his defense? We don't have a defense with him playing 12 mins. Any insight would be great.

What is Houston doing? Last…

What is Houston doing? Last I checked he wasn't doing much. G league and occasionally called up.

Same story all year minus a…

Same story all year minus a couple of games... can't close out / win close games. Illinois multiple tries all flat. Indiana multiple possessions that could end it and nothing. Idk what they were trying to run with 13 seconds left. So many people on here continuously bagged on Dickinson, but if he leaves I don't see who makes up all that production. Certainly Reed will do some, but will he become a 20 pt a night kind of guy?

Excited for Dug and Buffkin. They developed and were better as the year went on. Jett is nowhere near ready for the NBA and part of me thinks we were better without him at the end.

I hope we can make a run in the BTT, but I have a feeling the frustrating season will continue on.

So what the hell is…

So what the hell is happening in the huddle when we take a time out? It's always a broken play. Tonight it seemed like the players try to run 1 option, when that doesn't work it's over and they have to create on their own. That possession where Jett nearly turned it over, it really seemed like no one knew what to do when the plan didn't work.

I get Dickinson has had his struggles, but why is he getting the ball on the perimeter when he has a massive size advantage inside? That drive he tried to take the defender off the dribble is not his strong suit.

Jett 4-14 tonight seems not interested and like his mind is already on the NBA.

I'm not sure where this goes from here unfortunately. Hopefully we can bounce back next year but it doesn't seem likely unless changes are made.

The last 5 minutes were…

The last 5 minutes were painful to watch. Pound the rock when trailing, pass around the perimeter, run the clock down and jack a 3. First half watching no one box out (specifically the bufkin play), no one stop ball, and and the Reed free throws. It's shocking. I get they are young. I get its a rebuild year. The fundamentals are not there and seem to be getting worse. This Maryland team has no pulse and we just lost to them.

Disappointed is an understatement.

Really? I watched it a bunch…

Really? I watched it a bunch... seems extreme that he had a fight or flight reaction with the Maryland head coach waving his finger. What is going to happen? It's a college basketball game. I like Howard a lot but this is not a good look at all.

Offense is broken. Better…

Offense is broken. Better figure it out fast.

Bring back Beilein and then…

Bring back Beilein and then I will get hyped.

Ace... after your "They…

Ace... after your "They really thought" article this place got so hyped. It just took one extra week for the hype to die. If Tucker literally goes on to do nothing else at Michigan State... he should be remembered for causing Jim to get fired. I'm not so sure he will get fired though. Everyone seems to have excuses and anyone that questions things should be mocked with impunity (a fewyear old reference for those that have been here a few years). That article about the Minnesota game aged like milk Ace. He needs to be shown the door.

So sloppy. We need to pull…

So sloppy. We need to pull this one out.

Buckle up boys... crossing…

Buckle up boys... crossing routes and Shea.

Ok... so this whole thing in…

Ok... so this whole thing in California doesnt make sense to me. I saw Jalen on get up this morning make a valid point. You can't have players getting compensation and play for a team in the NCAA. It would violate the rules put in place by the NCAA. So unless schools opt out, how will this actually work in California?

The Big Question that is…

The Big Question that is still too soon to ask? What? It should be asked right now. This staff is totally incompetent and who is it led by? Serious question Ace, when can we ask the question? When is the right time to ask if Jim should be fired? What will it take? 7-5? 8-4? Losses to Notre Dame, MSU, and OSU? Let us know, thanks.

Jedi mind tricks? Like what?…

Jedi mind tricks? Like what? Running the ball the entire game minus 4 plays in regulation?

20 plus point favorite and…

20 plus point favorite and yes lining up offsides by a solid foot when you can clearly see the line of scrimmage and football, not fielding punts, running up the .middle and getting stuffed on 4th down instead of kicking a simple field goal, and many many more mistakes are embarassing. I am a huge Michigan fan. My perspective is fine. What would you call all the mistakes? Acceptable bc we won?

I sure hope our coaches dont have your perspective.

Well guys... the 4th and 2…

Well guys... the 4th and 2 was the worst decision of a day full of many bad decisions. The opening series of the second half was a very close 2nd. The team looks undisciplined, not prepared, and flat out embarassing. Seemed like 3rd quarter on we even decided not to fair catch a punt... out of fear of fumbling. Shotgun runs up the middle that didnt seem to work. An Army team that only runs the ball should have won today.

It's going to be a long year.

So much fun watching this…

So much fun watching this series over the weekend. Really like the vibe this team has. Finally some baseball in Michigan worth watching. Go Blue!!!!

But it isn't that simple. As…

But it isn't that simple. As I mentioned above it is a complex issue. You simply break it down to players getting paid and Beilein making millions off the backs of their athletes. He is providing a huge service to many of these athletes. Developing them and putting them in a position to show off their talents. You simply can't ignore that or the benefits the players receive. Beilein also has put in countless hours and time prior to WVU and Michigan that I am sure he made little to nothing and had a massive impact on athletes lives then.

I get it, the players are not compensated based on their talents and what they bring to the table. This is common with lots of people in lots of positions all over the country. It is not unique to college basketball. The world is not a fair place and hopefully the NCAA can figure out a solution here. They should to save the sport and help players.

Lastly, do you know where John stands on the paying players? Does anyone have a quote out there from him? I can't find one. I don't know where he stands. It is unfair to cast him in that kind of light.

I wrote a response on the…

I wrote a response on the article site and it won't post / show up. "Journalism" today my friend.

This is exactly how I read…

This is exactly how I read it. She even insinuates that he used his players and that their choices (leaving early) and the new college rules are why he left. What a bunch of garbage. Every interview I have ever seen with Beilein he always promoted the players doing what is right for them.

I understand the argument for paying players and I understand the value of a free education, tutors, amenities, coaching, and athletic development these players get. I also find it crystal clear that she has her agenda and nothing else. In the SI article she is quoting, there is a section that talks about the fact that when there are finals coaches can't hold practice, yet the players can work out with NBA scouts at the school facilities at that same time. She leaves everything out that doesn't fit her message.

This isn't a simple issue and she flat out doesn't know what she is talking about and is picking select moments from multiple sources to fit her agenda and paint the picture she wants to paint.

What in the actual…

What in the actual.... Pitino. How is this possible he is on the list and near the top? They wouldn't would they?

I saw this year as a problem…

I saw this year as a problem with consistency with our players. Poole would be terrible for three games, then show up against the likes of UNC and we would run them out of the gym. It seemed a lot like when Poole went, this team went. When he didn't we didn't. Iggy has many of the same issues. On again and off again. It just felt like we could never all show up together except for those rare moments.

Iggy and Poole should both return to fix this consistency issue. I hope one of them becomes the guy to run through on a regular basis. A closer at the end of games to hit big shots when we need it. You know those droughts we find ourselves in way too often? Someone that can create and stop those.

I expect Teske to shoot at a higher clip from 3 to stretch the floor next year and some of the young guys to step up.

Still, I have never seen that look on Coach Bs face since being here in Ann Arbor. Tough to watch. I do hope this humbles Poole and Iggy. I think they had too much swag for a team that did not achieve many of their goals.

Go blue always!

Florida is running some…

Florida is running some creative plays. We aren't. Florida players are all playing. Ours are not. We are going to get trucked again. I am going to start drinking and just turn it off.

How anyone can honestly say Jim can never be fired and we cant find anyone better is crazy. It's the same game plan and same story now over and over over. Go Blue always. But this is unwatchable.

Ok. Those 10 wins in three…

Ok. Those 10 wins in three seasons. How many were against a rival? Against a team with a winning record? Coach has trouble in the big games. There is nothing wrong with saying that. It's the truth.

Who cares if purdue played…

Who cares if purdue played them again. They won the game.

We are a program that is…

We are a program that is stuck in the past. We focus on how we are the winningest program in history. We have a coach that tries to coach like Bo did in the past. Hell he even tries to look like him. A game plan that is dated and will never win in today's game. In my opinion players that feel entitled or think they will win simply because it is Michigan.

So many people on here make it sound like ohio state has so much talent and we will never win again. Purdue slaughtered them this year. Do they have more talent?

The most important and honest line in the write up was where do we go from here... honestly a program so stuck in the past that thinks they are entitled to greatness bc of their past successes... idk. We probably take a step back next year from 10 wins and this whole thing gets blown up again. When the coach search is opened up again the blue bloods will scream about how we need a Michigan Man and this program will continue to live in the past.

What are the excuses this…

What are the excuses this year? Can't wait for the next year talk. What a joke.

They are destroying us. Not…

They are destroying us. Not just in the box score... we are literally dropping like flies. I thought this was the year we get them. I don't know where the program goes from here if we lose today.

Next year...

But seriously,…

Next year...

But seriously, what was that? Everything on offense was off. Even when we scored late, running the ball. Taking forever to hike the damn ball. Every time shea clapped and the ball didn't move I caught myself grinding my teeth more.

The coaches are the problem. Period. Mock me with impunity. I dont care. This same story is getting old.

As someone earlier mentioned, Notre Dame was totally fine with letting us score the last touchdown running the ball in. We waisted so much time doing it.

All this hype for Shea... why? Look at his stats in big games. I didn't understand it when he came here. I still dont. 4 years in and we have a transfer QB, a busted o-line, and to be honest... a coach that looks clueless.

Winovich and Bush deserve better than this crap. We all do.

Such joy So much joy to watch these guys and see how far they have come. The parents on the floor, cutting the nets down... way to go guys. Lets cut some more nets down this year!
And yet...

We are 13-1 at home. The one loss being back to back sketchy calls against Purdue at home.

Agree 100%

I agree.  Everyone questioning why they aren't shooting more freethrows in practice or blaming the coach for poor free throw shooting? Come on. He is a shooters coach.  Runs a shooters offense. You really think they aren't working on it? What should he do go out there and shoot them for them?

Of all the years he has been here, this has not been a real problem until now.

If we click

This team has not fired on all cyllendars minus the Michigan State and Purdue games. Duncan Robinson has been off mostly all year. Livers has gone quiet and Poole as well. I know this sounds weird, but I am almost excited that we haven't hit our full potential lately and continue to win games. If this team starts shooting at a high percentage (which I believe they can) we can hang with anyone in the country. Just get this thing goign 100% by March and keep winning no matter how we are doing it. 19-6 is just fine and I will be thrilled with a 5 seed or higher in a "rebuild" year.

I can't believe the hate for Coach in this thread at times. The dude just wins games, finds guys that other schools pass over, puts guys in the NBA, keeps the program super clean, and as i said wins games...

As always, Go Blue!

So much negativity So much negativity especially early. This is a young team. Northwestern is playing for their lives. We ran great offensive sets and missed a lot of open looks. Cough cough Robinson... Cough. This thing could be blown way open if we hit some more shots. The scheme was great second half and we get the win. Go blue!
Bridges is Soft

Never takes over a game and controls the game. NBA loves his size and has the "NBA ready body." Dude is mediocre mid range and plays soft as shit. Again, when has he just taken over a game if he is so damn good? I think Jackson is the better player to draft right now and I hope he is a one and done.

Again? Man... I was at the game and this one hurts. I hope they can bounce back on the road against State. The officiating deflated the building throughout the second half. It felt like anytime we had momentum there were long stops in play. Anyone else sick of this constant trend of getting the short end of the stick? Go blue
Officiating At least it's bad both ways. Lmao.
Deep team This team is deep. The rotations can go a lot of different ways. If someone is struggling next man up. I like it.
Officiating Is just terrible. What the hell is this? I hope when we play Sparty they call the same way. Any physical play is whistled. That was not a foul on Z and not a foul on Matthews.
Boom! Rock kicking ass. Simpson impressing. Livers looks great. Teske just keeps getting better game to game. Moe off night but isn't it nice on the road in a big ten game to not need him? He will get it going this year. Too much talent. Go blue!!
Fine?

I keep seeing posts throughout that hint at the program being fine. I hope you are right but I am very very worried at this point. Next year our Offensive Line needs to be fixed, our WR need to go from well bellow average to good, we need to find a QB that can make progressions and smart decisions... and well not shit the bed. The coaches need to find a rhythym on offense and consistently be able to move the ball. By consistency I mean... where is McDoom? When RB starts to take over in a game why do we go a few series without them in the game? Better play calling that doesn't kill drives over and over again.

Can this all be fixed... certainly. Will it all be fixed in 8 or 9 months? Doubtful.

I really hope I am wrong.

Mocked with impunity Am I allowed to criticize the coaches or will I be mocked with impunity?
Our Depth

We have a deep rotation that Coach B seems to want to utilize quite a bit. Did anyone else think that we were still running up and down the floor late 2nd half and OT while UCLA looked tired?

This team has real potential. With solid point guard play like we received tonight and a viable option instead of Duncan Robinson - we can do some serious damage.

Looking at the schedule I wanted to take 3 out of 4 with Indiana, Ohio State, UCLA, and Texas. Should have beat Ohio State, but if we beat Texas to go to 9-3 this would be a terrific start to the season and give us the solid non conference resume.

Go Blue!!!

Love the colors, love the

Love the colors, love the look, love it all... except for the Jumpman. Sorry. Hated Jordan at UNC, hated Jordan with the bulls (huge Piston fan), hate Chicago sports in general.

Will try and find stuff with only the swoosh. Is what it is.

Still way better than Adidas.

Izzo Sucks

I would not follow the path of the excuse king when it comes to coaching. I know Izzo has had success but would never run a program like his. If you need to lock players out of their own locker room you recruited the wrong guys, you couldn't motivate them to play, and you couldn't shape the team. All essential elements of being a coach.

Sadly, Tim miles is probably gone very very soon at Nebraska. Everytime I saw him on the Journey or in presser he seemed like he has high basketball IQ and is a nice guy.

Wow

Did not expect that effort. Went to the game (first time in Breslin) and was ran out of there like the team was. I do have to ask to anyone else at the game... is it just me or can the State defense pretty much place their hands on any offensive player at anytime? I get it... we got our asses kicked. Watching at the game and seeing the plays develop away from the ball I am amazed at how much contact there is against MSU and when MSU had the ball how we tried to move our feet. It was like watching basketball on one end and something entirely different on the other.

I cannot stress enough that we still would not have won but damn... that is some physical basketball and I can't figure out how and why it is allowed. I mean hell, even on inbounds plays Mitch a few times was literally pushing two defenders that were making contact with him and holding him. Strange game and honestly it looked like the toughest stretch on the schedule finally caught up to a young team that had no gas in the tank.
