3-9 was just "see, i told you" fuel for the fires.
|10 hours 31 min ago||oh, absolutely...||
...those guys would have come flocking back if we'd won some games.
that said, the ex-players and ex-coaches were conspicuous by their absence, and in some cases they were actively negative before the mediocrity started rolling in.
|10 hours 55 min ago||well,||
...i think that a case can be made that the rodriguez regime was hampered and / or damaged by the attitude and lack of support by people inside the athletic department and from former players and coaches.

...is a weasel. the constant sanctimony and self-righteousness makes me want to barf.
|3 days 7 hours ago||good for him.||
i'd wager that there's a good kid in there somewhere - brady doesn't usually recruit bad kids.
i wish him the best.
|4 days 7 hours ago||careful on the bets, there, brian.||
...next thing you know, a bunch of nitwits are going to be sending you collection letters, kinda like they all wanted you to eat a lemon.

i hate to go all "execution" or anything, but is it possible that we could stick with man / press coverage but coach 'em up so the breakdowns aren't as terrible terrible terrible?
i know it's a dumb, pollyanna question, and yes, i understand the unlikelihood of a non-secondary coach "coaching 'em up", but this seems less scheme and more technique to me.
|5 days 8 hours ago||No.||
No, you can't do that. It's slightly better than wearing them upside down around your neck, but not much.
|5 days 11 hours ago||ok, i'll play.||
you would sit hollowell and countess for...who? let's not pretend that the replacements are obviously better.
|6 days 6 hours ago||man, that's truly a drag.||
i wouldn't wish that on anyone.
|1 week 9 hours ago||reminding us once again...||
...that getting all worked up about an assistant coach is a profoundly silly thing.
godspeed and good luck.
|1 week 1 day ago||an honest question...||
...to those of you are all pissed off that hoke doesn't offer specific injury information: why, exactly, is this such a big deal to you guys? seriously - what is the payoff here? why this desperate need to know?

|1 week 6 days ago||whoa.||
satterfield had no idea we would be going man? at all? that is some executive level tunnel vision, right there. i realize you want to make decisions based on what you see and not what you read, but cumong man.

...a thousand times yes.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||i'm sure he's disappointed.||
playaz wanna play.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||well,||
...it was pretty obviously hyperbole, but fair enough - they haven't taken money for advertising inside the stadium. except for the ads that play on the jumbotron during tv commercial breaks, of course.
...this is a "which buggy whip is better" conversation anyway. there will eventually be advertising in the stadium. book it.

there is literally nothing this (or, admittedly, ANY) athletic department will not do for a few bucks.
i'm not even annoyed by this low-rent stuff any more.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||my favorite preview post so far...||
...can't tell if it's because brian's writing is so lively on this one, or if it's because we're in pretty good shape at the position. i'm sure that these things are not unrelated.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||you lost me.||
not following. here's the article - espn preseason all-big ten what quotes? say what on record?
|3 weeks 8 hours ago||STOP PRE||
|3 weeks 8 hours ago||first of all,||
...i am all in on devin gardner. espn recently named connor cook as their preseason first-team all-big ten quarterback and named a couple of other guys not named devin gardner as the other possibilities. silly.
that said, the "how do you even do that" clip of gardner sideways throwing without stepping into it was dumb at the time and is still so. there's not a coach on god's green earth who thought that was a good idea.

this is not an analysis piece, people. it's a feel piece.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||this conference is too big.||
the single-plays are a drag...possibly-elite teams should always have home-and-home series during the regular season. not suggesting that the conference should adjust based on the season outlook, either, because you really don't want to bring up the possibility that someone got their schedule jiggered for an easier path. but we have more one-way opponents than home-and-home opponents...that's not right, is it?
i, for one, LOVE it when we have to go into a really tough arena like kohl. those are some of my favorite games to watch, and they can really toughen a team.
also - 2-round byes in the tournament? yuck.

so what would you like him to say?

I think there are still openings for Smile Ambassadors, however.

...a day that the athletic department doesn't do something cheesy and annoying.
(...whisper whisper lego movie whisper michigan stadium...)
oh, crap. never mind. almost made it.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||wait for it...||
they won't get anywhere near a sellout, i don't care how many alumni live in chicago.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||no.||
the problem is not in neutral site games per se, or in the reduced value of a season ticket package, or in the inconvenience of driving to chicago. the problem is that hosting home games against your biggest rival in any sport is something you should not give up for any amount of money. home games against msu - in any sport you can name - are an unmitigated good.
if you want to say that money to fuel other athletic department programs or facilities is also a good, fine. i agree with that, too, to a point. the problem - as always - is that the athletic department was given a choice between the good of a home game against our bitterest rival and the (assumed) good of money...and chose money. THEY ALWAYS CHOOSE MONEY.
the thing is, if they wanted the money, i suspect that they could get the same amount by scheduling a one-off against denver, or colorado college, or duluth...or notre dame (well, obviously)
|4 weeks 6 days ago||i've said it before, and i will continue saying it...||
there is literally nothing this athletic department will not do for money. nothing.
