That would be geat, but I'm not sure why we should think Chatman will be a better defender than Robinson, who is roughly the same size, or Dawkins, who seems more athletic. Dawkins was a poor defender, but so was Chatman. Part of that is freshmen learning rotations, but they should both improve at that.

Westbrook is great and fun to watch but he desperately needs a coach who will actually punish him when he does something stupid like shoot a 39 footer 4 seconds into the shot clock. I think people are a bit too hard on him for immaturity when some of that is lax coaching. It's fine to chuck when that's your team's only hope, okc is too good for him to do that.

This is a joke, right? Brian talks about info from anonymous sources all the time. Where do you think the info about future medical red shirts is coming from, the sky?

Bummer. I became a Raiders fan because of my grandpa, and he loved Kenny "the snake." Iconic player, even if he wasn't the greatest Qb.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||No offense||
No offense to the other writers, but Alex's basketball posts are second only to UFR's when it comes to quality posts around here. Always interesting.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||I'm sure they care somewhat,||
I'm sure they care somewhat, but the odds of pushing a 5 star senior out with a bogus injury to give a walk on a schollie seem much lower than the odds of pushing him out for a new stud recruit or transfer player.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||If he really does have||
If he really does have arthritis in his knee, I can imagine playing football and the conditioning that goes along with it are okay. He might literally be able to do it, but you can't undo whatever damage it might do. If you're not a solid pro prospect I'm not sure it's worth it.
|5 weeks 1 day ago||Pretty sure that's the one||
Pretty sure that's the one referenced in the wsj article . It was a hearing before a private board authorized to enforce securities regulations. I don't think the nfl is similarly situated since they aren't enforcing any legal regulations, only contract terms.
|5 weeks 1 day ago||Honestly,||
I could give a shit. I have watched OSU get wrist slapped for illegal recruiting tatics and lying to the NCAA, turn around and win a national championship. I have watched PSU cover-up ghastly crimes, get hit with serious penalities that were later quietly reduced to a wrist-slapping. I have watched almost the entire goddamn SEC over-sign and cut scholarhip players while "dominating college football."
And we're hand-wring about stuff that is not even NCAA prohibited? Come the fuck on. I wish offers were commitable as soon as they were given, so coaches would be required to hold a spot for the kid and so kids would be unable to decommit without some sort of penalty, like sitting out for a year. But they aren't. So you get cases like Battle jumping ship at the last minute and coaches pulling offers. It's not ideal, but I don't get the vapors over it.

Best part of these threads is the flood of "obviously not a lawyer" folks chiming in with legal advice. Brady is testifying at a hearing pursuant to his contract, which is the CBA agreed upon by his union (the players union) and the NFL owners. He might have take an oath, but that doesn't mean he can be prosecuted for perjury. NY Law is broad on this but I'd doubt they'd consider lying at these proceedings perjury. See http://www.wsj.com/articles/deflategate-appeal-hearing-begins-1435066447... So no, he's not really putting his freedom on the line, especially since I'm sure he's been coached out the ass by his lawyers to evade directly refutable factual statements.
He doesn't have a presumption of innocence, because this isn't a criminal proceeding. It's not even a civil proceeding. It's an meeting that arises from the CBA, not from the law of any particular government. It's a private law creation. It's not in a courthouse and there is no judge, though there may be an arbitrater who also works or worked as a judge.
It's rather doubtful that Brady could sue for damage to his "brand" unless the NFL is violating the terms of the CBA. Even in that case I would assume the CBA sets liability limits for violations, but maybe it doesn't. Outside the CBA I'm not sure what the grounds for the suit would be. You can't just sue someone without a theory that ties the suit to a cause of action. The most obvious one here would be defamation. It's very hard to win defamation cases in the U.S. due to the robust protections the courts give speech due to the first amendment. He might be able to extract money via settlement simply by threatening to sue, but a suit itself would be unlikely to be successful.

Did someone cancel your Maxim subscription this week? You seem exceptionally bitchy.
|9 weeks 5 days ago||I'm skeptical.||
I'm sure a lot of players know about this blog (and the boards at rivals, etc) and I'm sure some of them have even occasionally commented. But I don't believe that every single athlete in every single sport at Michigan reads and comments on this blog. It's one thing to know that the blog is out there, but it's another to read it and comment. I know from talking with players when I was at Michigan that at least some of them stay away from blogs and what not (wisely, I might add). Things might be different now, but I doubt that they so different that EVERYONE reads the blog.
I could see some of the more internet-interested coaches reading the blog, but I can't imagine Belien sitting down to read Ace's recaps (no offense to Ace).

Yeah, it will also chronicle his many nba playoff choke jobs. Sounds like a scintillating read.

Contrary to popular opinion, Michigan had an good basketball program before the Fab Five, though to hear them tell it, they built whole program. When they left, the program went into a decade plus long shit cycle of which we have only recently gotten out. I wish they would've gone any where but Michigan.

|11 weeks 4 days ago||Great insight.||
You're right, people never say incriminating things to other people who could possibly be deposed in case of a trial. That's why, as an attorney, I never do depositions. There are completely pointless since no one ever tells a potential deposees anything incriminating.
Did I mention I never won a case and my law practice went out of business?

I guess we better keep LeVert in bubble wrap this summer. What a fucking dick punch.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||Actually the last three times||
Actually the last three times includes a game against a healthy Michigan team in the BTT. Fwiw I think we split with them next year, but with brown we'd be the top team in the big ten.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||And it's||
And it's not like they swept us the last times we've played. I don't think Brown going to UK is DOOM, but don't act like Michigna will just pick up where they left off 3 years ago. That Final Four run is going to lose whatever luster it had for recruits if the team shits itself again next season.

Talk about a hot take. MAAR is a future nba veteran? Trey Burke might not even be a future nba veteran.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||People are down||
People are down on the committment because Davis doesn't look like a very good prospect and he committed to class that looked to have potentially better prospects. Although a number of our true freshmen this year played better than their recruiting rankings, the team was still pretty awful. I think many people expect Michigan to recruit instant impact freshman given the recent success, and it just has not happened. Despite playing a lots of freshman for a large amount of minutes, not one Michigan player ended up on the All Big Ten Freshman team. OSU had two, Maryland, Indiana, and Northwestern(!) each had one. Michigan has been much better in the last 3-4 years than all of those teams, but does not seem to be drawing the same level of talent (except in the case of Northwestern).
Another issue, and more important in my opinion, is that the Davis committment seems to screw up the roster balance unless he is going to be a 6'10" point guard. I can't believe they are not going after a true pg in 2016.

Did anyone else notice how light the shooter's sentence was? A four year turn round is pretty light, in my limited lawyerly experience. Judge must've liked something he said.
|15 weeks 6 days ago||I think||
I think it's probably time to delete this topic. I'm amazed that anyone gives a a shit about a movie at UMix that literally dozens might go see or what Jim Harbaugh thinks about that movie. Then again, I also don't understand why anyone would care that Harbaugh drives an F-150 or loves shitty daytime TV.

I'm not sure I follow you. When you talk about effects, you have to be talking about past events, so I would think hindsight is the only sight that matters. I don't know what you mean by confidence verse probabilities, other than to say I am a Bayesian so I don't see the difference.
