In Home Visit

Here's an exclusive look at Brady Hoke doing an in home visit:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcR7hr4LLQg&feature=related

Three years ago...

If this is true...welcome home, coach.

Having spent time around LSU

Having spent time around LSU (3 years) it’s clear that, as every LSU fan will tell you,  "a retarded monkey could coach the team and win 8 games".  Miles has an insane recruiting advantage at LSU and a level of talent not found at Michigan.  In other words, LSU’s talent base is a major advantage Michigan doesn’t have.  Miles is a decent coach at best.  LSU is the star, not miles.

Good comment!

This is where people need to listen up...

"And we have made zero progress on the following: stupid mental errors, tackling, abject confusion on the field, missed assignments, gap responsibility, dumb penalties, and, against good teams-turnovers."

RR will be fine in AA, but the above mentioned garbage needs to come under control.

Simple fix.

Switch Michigan and Wisconsin and I'm happy!

This did not come from the players

Listening to the way Mark Snyder answers questions about how this story came about makes me think this story came by someone with power in the Michigan program.  No way a group of kids came to him to talk about practice.  It sure sounds like he got a tip off from someone with authority and an axe to grind.

He must of had a solid source of assurance to go with a story like this...no way he does this on the word of a few players without someone (an adult in the program) backing him up with solid information.  And if he didn't, then he's an idiot.

you mean this...

Help me see this...

I'm not sure how saying, "I find it highly unfair to hold a guy accountable for coaching a team completely inadequate for his system (see the quarterback situation)" opens up RR to the charge you suggest.  My comments defend his from such a, as you note, "ridiculous" charge.

deep.

"He chose to run the system that he ran"

He had a choice?  What was he going to do...install a pro-style system for the first time in his life?  please...give the guy a one year break.

Help me with something... What are you referencing by this, "It really doesn't surprise me he put up a show in front of the media"? I'm not aware of any statements or actions that make Kelly look like a jerk/creep in this situation. Actually, it seems like he's been completely straight forward and done the best in a tough spot. Anyway, flush this out a bit if you’re so inclined.
Deal! Word on the street has it that Dombrowski is looking to trade Verlander to Toronto for 2 French-Canadian strippers, A toll pass for the tunnel into Canada and a six-pack of Molson. Take it for what it’s worth…
This IS your answer. This IS your answer.
Nice work This is a flat out great hire. I’ve been watching Kelly for the past 12 years (six in person and six from a distance). The man can scheme with the best, matures talent, is straight forward with the media (as seen in the search), and does less with more (see GVSU and Central Michigan). I wanted him at Michigan but am fully confident in our coaching staff and expect great things in the next few years. Congats to ND, they got one heck of a coach.
Help... To all grammar lovers, I’m on a mission to re-build my grammatical foundation/abilities this Christmas break. Does anyone have a few good books, videos, articles or web sites I could use to re-learn English grammar from the ground up?
... 70%
Brian? I'd like to hear your thought on his question, "#4 Ole Miss lost on Thursday night, do they still get ranked ahead of Michigan?" I'm going with yes. what say you?
thx Thanks for the laugh. I needed it after reading some of the comments on mgoboard...
I agree and note that I am I agree and note that I am under the 100 point mark.
Is this thing on? My comment = sarcasm. The UFR is freaking phenomenal and I thought the comment would be self evident.
Don't do this to me... Brian, My heart skipped a few beats on this comment, "This is no fluke. This is the Leap." Could you expand on this?
(sigh) ...and he dotted the i? a little more content, please. EDIT: Thanks for the new info!
Read this and tell me he stays... "When does the university have to have facilities done so your buyout isn't lowered? "They have to have them in place for this fall." So, the university missed the deadline? "Pretty much. Look, I just wanted them to know that it is important for me that if they want to continue to move the program forward, [things must be done on facilities]. ... [Athletic director] Mike Thomas has been awesome. He is with me on this 100 percent. But we have gone through a new president, and there was an interim president; you know how that goes. But I am an impatient guy. That is my problem. We can't wait. Our new president will have these things on his table, and I'll keep doing my job and we'll see what comes up at the end of the year." No way he's their after this year. period.
... ...
... Who is Justin Boren? (Please hear the sarcasm/exasperated indifference)
Did you read what I wrote? I did send an E-mail and I asked that others do the same...please read the WHOLE article before you comment.
I hear your concern but it's I hear your concern but it's still an adventure in missing the point. ESPN is willfully misrepresenting the truth and not visiting them doesn’t stop my SEC friends from clogging up my voice mail and inbox with ill informed (thanks to ESPN) comments. ESPN has a responsibility to get it right...and when they don't we should let them know. You’ve chosen to not visit and I see some merit in that approach, but avoiding the situation doesn’t help in the long run because ESPN has real influence (see video of RR choking up at the press conference). I can’t stay quiet when misinformation begins to manifest itself in tangible ways.
I used the word “ethical” I used the word “ethical” because Adam has an increased responsibility when commenting on hot-topics (his position at ESPN demands a higher level of knowledge and accountability). Since he is obligated to understand the fundamentals (and his comment was of a 101 nature) of a story before posting on it (this is his profession and as you noted, “Being in accordance with the accepted principles of right and wrong that govern the conduct of a *profession*), he is “ethically” responsible to get it right and this boarders on negligent/unethical! Now I don't have an ethical responsibility to visit the Mden.com, but it’s beneficial to visit the Mden.com and I’m going to ask everyone I know to visit the Mden.com!
... Would you be willing to elaborate? (Keep it simple, a picture in MS paint is preferred)
sheesh. With 21 words you sheesh. With 21 words you crushed this kids credibility and most assuredly will cause him to create a new account. I'm guessing it will be something like check my....ah, never mind! +1 my friend!
Actually, Tim implied more Actually, Tim implied more than the appeal factor when he said: “Seeing the Huskies do well this fall will vindicate the selection by the AD.” Tim stated vindication, which goes far beyond what you are suggesting. Thanks for all you do to make Mgoblog the best Michigan site on the web! Go Blue!
Tim,
Good post but I disagree
Tim, Good post but I disagree with this comment, "Seeing the Huskies do well this fall will vindicate the selection by the AD." Regardless of UConn's upcoming season, Michigan will still waste a valuable OOC game in the North East at a High School stadium. Martin made a good business decision rather than choosing to make a P.R. splash. Can't say I blame him, but I'm not waiting with baited breath for either of these games.
The only buzz coming for the The only buzz coming for the opening game in 2010 is the buzz Michigan creates for itself with this season. UConn is a non-factor in the grand scheme of things...
ahem, avatar!?! ahem, avatar!?!
FAIL That is all...
I was hoping for a good I was hoping for a good explanation, thanks for providing it! If this helps prevent multiple threads on this topic then post away my friend!
Please... Tell me you're not going to post the same thing day-by-day for the next 26 days. Don't get me wrong, I like updates, but I think we all know about "countdown to kickoff".
Picture? Does anyone have a picture of the "HAIL" shirt? I'd like to see what it truly looks like (front/back).
Your first paragraph is Your first paragraph is phenomenal! Well said...
You almost had me... Well written, but I still disagree. I'll let these speak for me:
yawn. You're argument is arbitrary: We played team X in 1927 in a parallel situation. Team X in 1927 was unimpressive. Therefore, it’s ok that Team X in a parallel situation is unimpressive. We agree. Ohio Wesleyan is unimpressive just like UConn is unimpressive. It’s a lose-lose situation. The game has zero recruiting ramifications and if we win no one notices. Look, I’ll be at the game, but don’t ask me to get all excited for a game against the 5th best team in the 5th best conference in college football.
The wait is over... Yes, we have ND and UConn. ND is an average team with national appeal, while UConn is an aveerage team with very limited appeal. Hell, our current 2010 scheduel is nothing compared to the average gauntlet faced by an SEC team. I'm not going to sit back and applaud Michigan for signing a game with a powerhouse in basketball. This game does NOTHING to enhance our season, reputation, or opening day. My point is clear. Opening day 2010 is a special moment in the history of Michigan football, UConn does not rise to the occasion. A game against UConn is fine, just not on opening day. Again, it’s a lose-lose. Do you think ANYONE outside Michigan and Massachusetts gives a damn about this game?
Stop. Think. Respond. The EMPHESIS is on “home/renovation opener”. Notre Dame doesn’t have a thing to do with this game! We had ND the same year we played: at Oregon (2004), vs. Vanderbilt (2006), vs. Oregon (2007), vs. Utah (2008) If we cant handle an average SEC, Big 12, or Pac-Ten school and ND in the same year, then count me pissed!
Ugh. Bill--How many times has Michigan unveiled a massive stadium renovation to the world? The home opener in 2010 is a special occasion that deserves a special team and I’m sorry but UConn doesn’t meet that standard. Hell, I wouldn’t have even batted an eye if UConn was on the schedule before the PR blitz. Utah and Oregon are FAR better teams to play in the Big House than UConn… Bill’s had how many freaking years to plan for this date and all he could scrape up is the 5th best team in the 4th or 5th best conference, count me unimpressed! Ugh. Michigan St. gets Alabama Ohio St. gets USC and Texas Minnesota gets USC DAM IT! Thanks for ANOTHER lose-lose, Bill.

Next... UConn finished 5th in the Big East conference in 2008. Below are the other 5th ranked teams in 2008 per conference (conference as a whole). Out of these teams I would take the ones in brakets over UConn…What say you? ACC: Six way tie between [Maryland], [Wake Forest], [Clemson], [NC State], [North Carolina], and [Miami] (all 4-4). Big 12: [Nebraska], [Oklahoma State], [Missouri] SEC: Vanderbilt, [South Carolina] Pac Ten: Arizona Mountain West: Colorado State Conference USA: Southern Miss
Pure Exposure: I ran this past a friend from Auburn and he surprisingly finished my sentence. He’s been hearing some private rumblings about a big game outside the SEC in 2010. (Read: bla-bla-bla, rumor mongering) He’s an insider for sure, but I’d put it at no more than 65% possible. Take it for what it’s worth. IMO. I’d like to play Auburn. We both need exposure, they play in the SEC and it should be a manageable game to win.
