Denard playing against a terrible second string D with first offense isn't very impressive. I was more impressed by Forcier scoring against the first team D with mostly Freshmen and second stringers on offense.
We lost a very good player because of our "academic standards". To me, this is a big ole' FAIL by the University of Michigan. Kid should be in Ann Arbor right now. Oh well, life goes on. Better hope Cullen is the real deal.
I agree he is a good player and has the potential to be a great player. But what has he done to justify greatness? I think everyone is drinking the "death roh" kool-aid a little too much. Did he play well as a freshmen? Absolutely. Is he an "amazing" player? Not yet.

SEC is still top dog for now. I think we are tied with the PAC-10 for 2nd. Big 12 still has talent but Nebraska is a big blow. They are on par with ACC. If ND gets good again and we add them to the Big Ten then we could possibly be better then the SEC. I think we need to eliminate weak schools like Indiana so we can add better schools.
We have 2 natural QBs on the roster, Forcier and Gardner. I'm almost positive that coach Rod is going to redshirt Gardner to give him time to mature and give him that two year cushion from Forcier. Coach Rod will keep Denard around as a QB for another year so Gardner can redshirt and then he will switch him to RB/Slot. This Kevin Sousa kid can redshirt and compete with Gardner once Forcier is gone. Robinson is not going to be our starting QB.
Of course Texas would be awesome but realistically it won't work. We need to stay with Midwestern, and Eastern schools. Pitt, Missouri, ND, Maryland, Kansas would all be good fits.
I'm with you on that one. Texas is as southern as it gets. It doesn't make sense to have an all North conference with Texas just chilling down there. Nebraska is a perfect fit IMO. They will make the Big Ten a more well rounded conference.

I think Shaw will be the go-to-guy with Toussiant and Hopkins splitting carries. Hopkins is 230 something and is ready to play right now. Rich Rod said once Denard learns QB he won't be standing on the sidelines 70% of the game. Our D line will be very good also with Roh, Campbell, Martin, and RVB. Defense will struggle at times but I think we will see a serviceable defense with all the depth we are building...

Smith will more than likely take a medical redshirt to recover.. Shaw, Cox, Hopkins, Toussaint will get most of the snaps. White most likely redshirts as well.
McGuffie was more highly sought then Shaw ever could of thought of being. If Mcguffie would of stayed, it would of been the fastest backfield in the country. Mcguffie's 60 yard dash scores are better then Denards. FYI. Pure speed.
Denard and Pat White are not as similar as you think. White can throw, Denard has shown no proof he can besides against our second string defense. Denard is a pure speed demon. White while fast, isn't quite as fast. I think Tate is more like White then Denard.
I think RichRod has pulled very exceptional recruits considering our recent struggles. It is hard to say which is the "best" because each player plays a different role. I would say some of the biggest recruits are Big Will, JT Turner, Gardner, Cullen, Roh, Forcier, Robinson, Gallon, Stokes, Stonum, Mcguffie. The biggest sleeper is def Patrick Omameh.
I thought we had an impressive offense last year considering a true freshmen QB. The offense will only improve with experience as will the defense once depth is established. We are bringing in all the talent we need, now we simply have to wait until the talent matures. We had too big of a gap last year as far as talent goes. Too many freshmen with little depth resulted in a piss poor D.
I think last year showed way too many flashes for us not to be at least an 8 win team. I personally see a 9 win team. We are playing a pretty weak schedule. I know I am going to get bashed for this but this is how I see the season panning out.
