Your favorite Michigan Basketball moment this season?

So many to choose from.

For me personally, it was the final seconds ticking off after FSU didn't foul and it became clear we were going to the Final Four.

If we’re talking about best moment of the year, this is it. I was literally in shock he made it. But best overall game(s) had to be the BTT, crushing Nebraska, MSU (again), and Purdue in route to the BIg Ten tournament title. I’d also include the A&M game, and last 10 minutes against Loyola when we outscored them by 18 or whatever it was.

Underrated best for me was the early second half run in the Maryland (home) game. We hit threes on like 6 straight possessions at one point. Jordan Poole hit 3 in a row. Just a crazy good 5-minute sequence.

I already posted this in Seth's "One Shining Moment" thread, but it was so much fun I'm going to post it again:

For me, it's the confetti.  I've become all about the confetti.

My wife is a Dukie.  Last year we watched on TV as Duke won the ACC Tournament on Saturday night.  When they won, confetti came pouring down on them from the arena rafters and filled the sky.

I thought to myself "Man, I really want that for Michigan  in the Big Ten Tournament tomorrow."

The next day on Sunday, I was in the stands in DC for the Big Ten Tournament final and got to take this picture:

Got it!

This year in NYC, we got to repeat that scene all over again.  (Duke didn't.)

Check out this amazing-angle confetti footage at 7:50:

"Let the confetti rain in New York!"

It did not stop there.  Another round of confetti awaited in the West Regional Final as Michigan hoisted a Final Four trophy and cut down the nets:

It's been a great run for confetti.

CHEERS!

When it sunk in that we finished ranked #2 in the entire country - when it looked in January like we wouldn't even be #2 in the state of Michigan - that was pretty special.

Wins against MSU and everyone else, the B1G tournament win, and Poole’s 3. I also enjoyed watching the team on the bench cheer for the players on the floor during the games. There was also one I didn’t expect: when it was apparent to everyone in the final minutes that Michigan would not overcome the deficit to Villanova, you could not tell on the court. No one folded. I was as proud of the players then as I was any other time in the season.

Way too many to have a favorite, but here is my list of memories in no particular order:

1. Taking my family to Crisler in December to take in the Jacksonville game.  First game my kids have ever been to and watching their faces that day made a memorable family moment.

2. Both MSU games

3. UCLA comeback to win in OT

4. Poole staredown into camera after dunk at PSU

5. Game winning MAAR free throws vs Maryland

6. OT win vs Minnesota despite the horrendous officiating

7. Ohio State win on Senior day with Austin Hatch suiting up

8. Charles laughing at Nick Ward

9. Winning the BTT against Purdue

10. Revenge win vs Nebraska

11. Jordan Poole game winning shot vs Houston

12. Beat down @ Maryland where we scored 50 some points in the first half

13. Beat down of Texas A&M in the tournament.

14. Beating FSU to go to the Final 4

15. Comeback vs Loyola in the Final 4

16. Beilein water fights post game

17. Blowout win at Wisconsin

18. Winning on the road at Texas

19. Beating Iowa 3 times

20. Seeing Beilein outcoach many other coaches and get every last ounce out of his players en route to the National Championship Game.

All these moments tied into one makes this my favorite UM basketball season.  Just as good as the 1989 National Championship season.  Even though that one had a better ending.  The ride this team put us on was just as good!

Let's do second favorite.  If your favorite isn't that, I don't now what to say to you.

Anyway, my second favorite was the first fifteen minutes of the Championship game.  I was there, and the Alamodome was electric until, you know, we bricked our way out of contention.

Poole shot. Had each of my two kids on either side of me on the couch. We were really into the game at the end and kept talking about all the ways we could hang on. Have to make this shot. They can make one free throw but not two. We have a chance. Are a few seconds enough? It’s ok, it was a great season anyway. WHAT?! Craziness. Hugs. Jumping around. Go Blue.

Mine was them beating State for the 2nd time and then proceeding to beat Purdue for the big 10 tourney championship! But really I enjoyed the whole season!

I'm being biased here, but I have to go with the games against A&M and FSU, because I was there. Getting to see them win their way to the Final Four was pretty special, and the tailgates before and celebrations afterwards were unbelievable. Otherwise? Definitely the shot by Poole that gave me that chance to begin with, and Michigan another chance to go farther!

For me it was definitely Poole's shot to win the game against Houston.  In addition to the timing and what was at stake, I had the good fortune to witness it in person.  The only downside was there was only one other Michigan fan in the entire section I was in, and we were nowhere near each other. Even being around Houston fans would have been better than the indifference of the Kansas fans who were surrounding me.  They thought it was cool to see a last second shot win the game, but they really didn't care which team won.

40+ replies and nobody mentioned man-child CJ Baird with an NCAA tournament run for the ages?  Averaged 120 points / 40 rebounds / 40 blocks per 40 minutes on 100% shooting,  It's hard to do much better than that. ;)

Also -- the moment when they started playing "I Love L.A." at the Staples Center, after Michigan had finished cutting down both nets and the staff were trying to clear the arena.  Of course, that may be because I've actually listened to the lyrics.  (Hint: it's satire, Angelenos ;).  Actually, pretty much everything about the games in LA were awesome. It was loud.
