They are obviously good reasons.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:21 PM ^
and guess they wouldn't be bad? Thanks anyway...captain obvious.

I think you missed his point.

Sounds like Long and Dyan Crawford are good friends.

Cali is really loaded with talent. Over the years, Michigan has had a really good batting average of successful recruits from the Golden State. Hopefully, if we can land a couple high profile players like Long and Crawford, it will open that door a little wider.

Long is going to be a fantastic DB.
He is also a very thoughtful young man, based on his responses in interviews. I just watched one the other day where Brandon Brown interviewed him, and I couldn't believe how well spoken he was.
Here's hoping Wilfong is right!
January 6th, 2016 at 2:10 PM ^
Not surprised. There's a reason he was committed to Stanford at one time.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:47 PM ^
"well spoken." Maybe it wasn't intentional but can we please stop this already? It's 2016.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:51 PM ^
January 6th, 2016 at 2:55 PM ^
Or maybe he just fucking speaks well.
January 6th, 2016 at 4:02 PM ^
Well said.
January 6th, 2016 at 3:04 PM ^
Agreed. Public speaking is not a skill many 17/18-year olds possess. If we're talking about a 35-year old man, it's more reasonable. But to assume any sort of racial bias in a complementary comment about a 17-year old kid is... presumptive at best.
January 6th, 2016 at 3:12 PM ^
It may have been completely unintentional or subconscious but it was still a cringe worthy comment imho.

Comments like yours imply - and I hope I'm wrong - that for YOU, it's surprising when a person with black skin can speak well. The rest of us aren't surprised in the least. CYP, my SJW friend.

I believe what was implied was:
Full Definition of well–spoken
-
1: speaking well, fitly, or courteously <a well–spoken young woman>
-
2: spoken with propriety <well–spoken words>

Maybe because it's a bullshit reason for some people to get on their high horse and affirm their cultural sensitivity superiority.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:02 PM ^
Clint Brewster also CB'ed Long to Michigan!
Sounds like he's one of the silents from the Army game Webb was talking about.

Plus we have some young guns like Cole, Watson, Washingston, and Kinnel hopefully will be ready for backup duty.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:04 PM ^
I like it because it would mean Michigan is getting a top-100 recruit, but also because the Washington paysite writers have been astonishing in their arrogance covering Long's recruitment. They have repeated for weeks with full throats that Long was a stone-cold lock to Washington. So I am eager to see how they scramble.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:14 PM ^
Would also love to take Levi O from them as well.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:54 PM ^
Actually according to Sam Webb and others Washington isnt even in Levi O's top two. They predict its between Michigan and Baylor and this point.

I like very much.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:12 PM ^
Long would be awesome. From the start, he has been the No. 1 target at DB for this recruiting class. Michigan is hitting on a lot of the guys they want if he comes along with Gary.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:22 PM ^
30 or 35, right?
January 6th, 2016 at 2:30 PM ^
If there is in fact some grayshirt commitments (as implied by numerous sources), then technically yes... I really don't think any experts have any clue as to how many more guys Harbaugh is actually looking to add in the class because of the whole grayshirt/attrition issue. We know 27 is the number, but who knows what makes up that number in actuality.
January 6th, 2016 at 3:29 PM ^
As I understand it, a grayshirt comes in for one year w/o a scholarship with the understanding that they'll be put on scholarship the next year. A couple of questions about this. Is it a guarnteed that they got the scholarship later on? Why would a school want to do this as it detracts from the numbers available next year. Is it because they offered a scholarship and it is a middle ground between being part of the class and being told to take a walk?
January 6th, 2016 at 3:55 PM ^
No. a grayshirt means they come in during the spring semester on scholarship. They wouldn't be at school in the fall.
January 6th, 2016 at 2:33 PM ^
Definitely positive news, but with an official to Washington still on the books, I'm trying to temper my excitement until he commits publicly.
