Tyrone Wheatley was fired from the Jags today, guess he should have stayed with Michigan.

You know how else it doesn’t work? You don’t get promoted from RB to OC at Michigan. He’s been looking for an OC gig since before he got here and there’s a reason he hasn’t found one.

Strictly RB coach to OC is a very rare career trajectory. He’d 100% need to prove himself before sniffing the job at michgian.

But Jaybaugh can just replace Wheatley without problems?

Youre a hypocrite.

Wheatley landed us the top 8 players in Michigan from 2017.

Dude is one hell of a recruiter and the reason he left was because he disagreed with Harbaugh’s trajectory with the offense.

Looks like he was right!!!!

He was a great recruiter no doubt and we have not been able to replace that.

And while we knew there were definitely issues between Wheatley & Harbaugh, the feeling I got was it was about Wheatley's pay and his role with the team compared to say Drevno.

Our offense wasn't quite as conservative and vanilla when Wheatley was here so I question your reason for why Wheatley left.

If this logic held up, Scott Frost wouldn't be where he is right now. He was a GA for two years then got a full-time job as LB coach at Northern Iowa. The next year he became their Co-DC. He then coached WRs at Oregon for 3 years before getting the QB/OC job at Oregon.

When you make a hire, you sit down and talk to the person. If their presentation convinces you that what they want to do is right for your team, then you make the hire.

So tell us how Eric Bienemy made the jump for KC? How did Adam Hase do it from Broncos to Bears? The next logical promotion for a RB coach is OC. I don’t get the comment. Plenty of folks in NFL have made and are being considered for such a promotion.

Heck, some LB coaches are being considered for HC jobs.

Ty Wheatley is one of my favs, but his non-promotions have less to do with conventions. He, perhaps, needs to develop as a coach more. Looks like he took the fall for the Sheldon and Fournette meltdowns—which doesn’t bode well for his ability to instill discipline.

Funny that people are pissed that Jay had no experience coaching RBs replaced Wheatley and you wanna hire Wheatley, who has zero experience coordinating an offense, to be Michigan’s OC.

Makes sense.  This fan base has been full of contradictions for weeks.

Fournette and Yeldon are probably more to blame than Wheatley.

Wheatley was smart to leave Michigan when he did. He seen where the O was headed.

I'd love to have him back in out fold. He was great recruiter for out team. He seemed to be a serviceable or better coach for out running backs. Enough said.

Too bad a mod nuked it, because I didn’t read it in detail.

Basically that Brown is going to accept the Temple job this week. Harbaugh is seriously considering the jets offer. OSU is after Al Washington.
