What if Rich Rod had the transfer portal?

Thinking back on The Decimated Defense and all of the roster holes that Michigan was trying (largely unsuccessfully) to plug during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, what do you think would have happened if there had been an unrestricted transfer portal during those seasons? Do you think it wouldn't have made much of a difference because the problems were with coaching anyway? Or because the academic office is often a significant barrier to transfers? Or do you think Rich Rod would have been able to fill in the gaps much better than he was able to in real life? Would he have made it to a 2011 season and have been able to get that desperately needed win over Ohio State?

What if Nasar, Jerry Sandusky, and Dr. Richard Strauss were all at Michigan in addition to Dr. Anderson?

That’s the OP asking stupid hypotheticals.

Rich Rod could have had the #1 recruiting class every year and he still would have fucked it up.  He was not shy at all about pointing fingers as to why his time as Michigan was a failure, but bottom line is his teams here were very poorly coached.  There were a lot of embarrassing games to choose from, but I dare anyone to watch that 2010 Wisconsin game and tell me this coach was ever going to get it done here.

The RR apologists kill me.  Lloyd Carr was evidently responsible for all of RR's failings.  Get over it. RR was a demonstrably mediocre to bad coach.  He has a .58 career win percentage.    Yes he was a spread offense innovator, but his best years were riding Pat White's immense talent.

RR defenses were the worst thing I had ever seen.  However would have been awesome to watch Denard in a RR offense for a couple more years.  I always have wondered what would have been for Denard...Heisman?
