What do you miss (UM football related)
...he was my favorite. :(
Seconded
I miss knowing how many times we lost to OSU in the last few years. You could tell me we've lost 13 of 14 or 19 of 20. I would pretty much believe you no matter what.
Being nationally relevant in the sport.
Winning B1G championships!
Offensive lines.
I miss Brady Hoke talking about toughness and physicality.
....and pad level.
while golf clapping.
fify
Competent QB play
Competent OL play
Maize pants on the road
Beating MSU all the time
Watching OSU shit their pants against the good guys (Cooper).
Beating ranked teams on the road, at least on occasion.
A nationally relevant team because of the team on the field, not because of hype, Twitter zings, satellite camps, field trips or references to wins that happened decades before I was born.
Instead of being a national joke.
like every year...
THE GAME
I miss complaining when we only win 10 games
So was 2015.
I miss beating our rivals consistently. That was a neat time. Ancient history now though.
Lived here since 1987. From then until Tressel arrived in Columbus I was HATED by the locals cause everybody knew I went to "TSUN". Wore the (fake) letter jacket, ran the M flag up my flagpole, wore M gear to the gym and generally was loud and proud about my school. And given that from 88-01 we generally kicked their ass and went to the Rose Bowl on a frequent basis it was a given I would be disliked by the locals.
Now? I'm felt sorry for. Now they look at me like I would some over the hill boxer trying (and usually failing) to recapture lost glory against a fighter much younger, stronger and faster. Nobody hates me for being from Michigan anymore. They PITY me and I HATE THAT.
I miss being arrogant. I miss being damn sure we're going to have an excellent football team that will beat OSU most of the time and MSU ALL of the time.
insert snarky comment >
I miss not caring about recruiting. Recruiting didn't seem to get much attention before ~2003, and when a freshman contributed it was an awesome surprise.
Handjobs. I miss good, old-fashioned, not-terribly-efficient high school handjobs. It's all sex, sex, sex when you're older...
EDIT: Sorry, I missed the "UM football related" part of the OP...
If you loved handjobs, wait till you hear about mouthjobs!
Totally thought it was Hatter
just put some porn on and have rosey get to work. I would think by now you should be able to type with one hand.
Winning relevant games on a consistent basis.
How about the screen pass in general? I know Harbaugh has previously said he's never been a good screen coach. Have the o-line problems prevented us from using it effectively? It obviously can be such a weapon against the rush and to help the QB from getting pummeled.
Punishing OL's and beating the bitcheyes and sharty's on the regular...
MAN, all of you guys have to get it together. You can't bring this negative energy into the tournament season.
Jabrill Peppers. Denard. A fully competent OLine. MSU losing more often. Charlie Weiss on NDs sideline.
Bobby Williams' last game as MSU's head coach was this very game, I believe, and I was there. I am glad we were able to give him such a gracious sendoff, although I think they should have just kept Williams at least a little longer. Say, until this very day.
Then their heart was ripped out and they were beaten over the head with it. Payback for Spartan Bob's creative timekeeping the year before.
The world made more sense to me in 2002.
I miss telling people who were calling for Lloyd Carr's head in 2005-07 to be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.
I mean hindsight is 20/20 but I think the bigger was the ensuing search process
Yes, the search process was a mess. Getting a better candidate then could have made a lot of difference this past decade.
I don’t blame people to at least want him to step down ... when you start losing a lot to your biggest rival , lose bowls games , and then lose to a 1aa (at the time) school , what can you expect ?
Because it’s a great tune and it meant we won.
Bring it back!
Winning.
for his play calling.
Run, run, pass every single series.
Zone left
And just to mix it up he'd:
Run, pass, run, punt
Gotta keep the other team's defense honest
I just realized, had Brian been able to start this blog during the 80's and 90's it would have failed miserably. There would have been very little to complain about and analysis wasn't really required.
Everyone would have basically just agreed we had won yet again and moved on. There would have been three message board posts a week.
- One congratualting the team on another win
- One Haiku for the upcoming game,
-And one weekly OT post ranging from "Best hair spray", "Most comfortable zubaz pants", and a consistent presence from a small but loyal group talking about how they had turned their Monopoly board into a college football territory board by taping colored pieces of paper over the properties.
