What's going on with Orji?

We heard all fall how he would be returning kicks, then how the interim coaching staff made a mistake with the depth chart.  Still haven't seen him as the true backup.  He had 2 plays vs BG, then nothing.  Tuttle/Denegal were in for Nebraska, just seems weird to me.  Anyone else wondering?

The coaches are preparing for the worst- if JJ goes down this year they want the best backup to replace him. This doesn't have any bearing on what happens next year or beyond.

He's gotten mop up duty this season...it's just tough early in the year because you're trying to get your starters enough snaps as well. You're also playing shitty teams and you're not going to embarrass them (at least Michigan won't).

Michigan is still sorting through playing time for all of the backup QBs. Harbaugh has stated it didn't go as planned in the non-conference (he specifically mentioned that Hart fucked up the plan in his half as HC).

Notice Davis Warren didn't go in 2nd (or 3rd)...but no one is saying, "what happened to Davis Warren?"

They're trying to get all of the guys PT.

As for the kick return and gadget play stuff...Harbaugh said he won't put Orji back there if we can't block it. And there has been no need to run him out on a gadget play.

He's a RS Freshman, he's got plenty of time left to make an impact.

I think it's pretty clear the order in the room at this point:

1. JJ

2. Tuttle

3. Denegal

4. Warren

5? Orji

Sherrone Moore confirmed Tuttle is the backup to jj so the order that they played makes sense as to their standing in the room.

So it does make it an interesting (and relevant) question as to what the story is with Orji. Is he injured? He was listed as "out" for Rutgers but no mention in the availability report for Nebraska. Maybe they just don't mention guys that don't travel in that report? Or maybe it's as simple as hes 5th on the depth chart idk

Developing a whole murder package for him, not to be unveiled until OSU. Several swift TDs will put us firmly in control, send Ryan Day into that good night, raging against his crap team's lack of fight.

Recently been out injured as posted above and the brief snippet from Harbaugh of him returning kicks seemed like it was just trying creative stuff out in practice in the off chance it could be of use.

I'll be the one who says it. Based on his body of work last season I don't understand the obsession  with needing him to be on the field so badly from fans. Coaches over sell guys all the time. He was 1/1 5yds passing last season. 6 car 37 yds 2tds running. I don't get the hype. Those stats were vs backups. He might just very well be mediocre.

yeah a wack OP.  We are undefeated with a top 5 QB in the land and we are getting posts worrying about the 18th string QB with "unlimited potential" based on nothing.  If he was all that he would have been in, in one of the first few games for a full quarter ahead of the other guys.
