We finally have a MIDNIGHT MADNESS again!
The basketball program is now truly back on track. A 3-point contest should be in order!

Coach B has been the best thing to happen to Michigan Basketball in a long time. He has made drastic improvements in every area of the program, and he has done it the right way, unlike that dirt bag Calipari.

many thanks to the west virginia university and Michigan head coach training institute (WVUMHCI).

Does your signature signify your being a nihilist or a non-conformist (which are interestingly different, in my eyes: You know, the whole "love of difference" versus "hatred of similarity" thing)?

but i prefer not to be labeled.

Great! I bet it will be rocking in there.

This sounds much better than Meijer Madness (read: a Meijer devoid of anything useful and full of angry freshmen).

I always sort of wondered why we didn't have one? I guessed it was because there wasn't enough fan interest during those years that we weren't doing so well. I'm glad Coach Beilein brought this back.

I remember the Midnight Madness before the start of Webber's sophomore year. They had a dunk contest and everything. Crisler was insane!
I was only 8 years old at the time, but I saved all the Nike cardboards they passed out with the dunk judging #s on them. They even had some printed that had a little Dickie V action on them, saying "Awesome Baby!" Have them hanging up in my basement to this day.
That was one of my fondest Michigan athletics memories.

Maybe we should have a layup contest between Stu and Novak.

Novak can dunk! He said so himself! Who cares if he's 0/1 on the season.

I was getting excited about this...until I saw the date: a Friday night. I work Friday nights in the fall. I expect detailed reports from all of you.
August 20th, 2009 at 1:08 PM ^
I expect you to get the night off, or if that doesn't work out quit. You will attend and you will cheer.
August 20th, 2009 at 1:27 PM ^
Unfortunately, while there are a lot of things I'd skip out on for this, Friday night football isn't one of them. Especially when it's a game against A2 Pioneer, featuring Ricardo Miller!

This will be a great birthday present, to me. Oct 16th birthday AND midnight madness? Whoomp!!
August 21st, 2009 at 12:17 AM ^
Ha! My birthday is Oct. 16 also

Not only is this cool, but it will likely be more compelling than the football game the following afternoon.
August 20th, 2009 at 1:49 PM ^
I've been lobbying for this for a long time too, glad it's finally come to fruition and we can join the rest of the Big Ten!
August 20th, 2009 at 2:37 PM ^
I will definitely try to go to this. I have to say this is the most excited I have been about Michigan basketball in a long time.
August 20th, 2009 at 2:48 PM ^
It's actually an 8pm Madness, but still, it's nice that the basketball team has returned to a level where "free scrimmage after Purdue football game" is about as good as it got.

It's great to have something to watch and cheer for after football season. I have waited since 95 for all this.
August 20th, 2009 at 10:51 PM ^
You know, you've always had something to watch and cheer for after football season.
This is exciting times, but major props to the Maize Ragers and season ticket holders that were always cheering for the maize and blue on the hardwood, even when they were struggling.

Exactly.
