Way too early but no November home games next year

Horrific preseason schedule with three meatballs including UCONN the start with Terps.  Weird schedule that will definitely have an away night game at Kinnick October 1.   Not looking ahead but  weird setup

If the Michigan State game next year is home (as others on this board are adamant will be the case, even though both schools' websites suspiciously show the game as being in East Lansing), then a currently-designated home game will have to be away, otherwise we will have 6 home conference games. Indiana is the obvious candidate since 2020's game was switched from Ann Arbor to Bloomington, and if the IU game does end up being an away game, then we have no November home games.

The Big Ten switched the locations of lots of games last year, and in hindsight it seems like really dumb decision that created all sorts of scheduling issues going forward. My prediction is that the Big Ten completely reshuffles next year's schedule (keeping the opponents and locations but changing the weeks) to avoid these awkward legs of consecutive away games.

I just hope we do end up playing MSU at home. Having to play them away in consecutive years (again) would be a massive screw-up by Warde -- essentially we will have traded a 2021 home game for a 2020 no-fan home game, which is a raw deal.

We will never defeat Ohio State. We have things to do, other rivals to play, other sports to be excited for while these motherfuckers are literally laser focused on Michigan football, silently staring at us in the dark with their dicks in their hand. It’s creepy, sure, but we will never catch them sleeping the way other teams manage to do.

Just remember that they announced last year the rotation for MSU home and away will be reset so the expectation is that Indiana and MSU will be flipped on next year's schedule.

The problem is simply flipping these two games is not an option based on what you described. It creates too much unbalance in the home/away scheduling. In order to make that switch the B1G is going to have to basically re-work the conference's entire schedule since every move has a domino effect.

My fear is that the powers that be will look at completely overhauling the schedule to be too much of a pain so they will just say screw it and leave it as is.

The league already made a bunch of changes for the 2020 schedule and then this past winter altered some game locations for the 2021 season. I don't see why they would look at making changes for 2022 as being too tall a task. I know we joke about people in power, etc., but it's not like it's just one guy in a room who's going to get fed up and say, "Nope, not doing it!" There's likely a large team devoted to working on the schedule and I'm sure they will do what is necessary based on the changes that were made over the past couple of years.

It's likely that we won't hear anything about 2022 schedule changes until the calendar rolls over.

The changes made in 2020 and 2021 were announced as permanent going forward but the schedules have not been updated.yet.  (See the several "We play MSU away 2 years in a row!!??!!" threads from over the summer.)

Changes were specifically done to even out the Home-Away schedules (I assume) at the request of the Michigan-based teams.  M and MSU alternating years where both the in-state rival and OSU were home or away was causing havoc on season ticket sales.

I get it. Over the years we've been conditioned to not expect much from the league office. I do recall reading somewhere that the conference wanted to change Michigan and MSU both having OSU at the same location as the UM/MSU game. Getting that balanced out is better for all involved so that ticket sales are more consistent from year to year.

Sammy - say it ain't so.

Poor OP.  Next time, include the entire schedule. Structure a better OP.

Maybe then you wouldn't post incorrect information and, the OP would be more informative.

Right now, maybe.  But Iowa always goes back to a 7-5 or 8-4 type season after their once-every-5 or 6 years run at the top (2021 - 2015 - 2009 - 2004).  But away games at Kinnick are always a nightmare for us, so yeah, not great.  Penn State, Nebby and (assuming it gets flip flopped) Michigan State is rough but they should all be home games.  So that works in our favor.  So definitely a tough month, but not the worst month it could be.  I actually think this month with road games at Wisconsin, Nebraska and Michigan State is one of the toughest months we've had (even if Wisconsin isn't great this year).  We hadn't won at Madison since 2001, never won in Lincoln, and Michigan State on the road is never a gimme (even when they're terrible like 2016).

When I went to look at the schedule, I had the exact same reaction.  What a brutal October.  That rivalry game after playing three straight tough, physical games is not going to be fun.

Also, I'm sure this is not actually true and is just the perception in my head -- but doesn't it seem like we have a tougher than average Big Ten West schedule every year?  We've played Wisco for like 5 straight years.  The year they roll off, they get replaced by Iowa.  Feels like it's been a little while since we played Illinois and Purdue, but maybe those games just aren't memorable.

We need to sticky a thread that says the 2022 and future schedules as currently published are not final, and in fact expected to change. The changes in 2020 reset the home/away split of MSU and Indiana, and that is likely to continue going forward, so all future schedules need to be adjusted.

If you don't believe me, compare the original 2021 schedule as posted on mgoblue.com to the one we are actually playing. You'll notice that the Indiana, MSU, Northwestern, and Nebraska games were all moved around. The league will do the same for the rest of the seasons where it is an issue.

From one Sammy to another - chill out and think a little, OP.

non-conference schedules the next two years are TERRIBLE.  I hope the whole Alliance thing works out and we play some ACC, BIG 12 or PAC12 teams instead of the meatballs currently scheduled.

There is not a good non-conference game either year (Hawaii, Bowling Green, East Carolina,etc...) give me a break.

Furthermore, from the Big Ten's own press release announcing the 2021 schedule

The Big Ten Conference Administrators Council, which includes the Directors of Athletics and Senior Women Administrators from all 14 member institutions, approved a revised 2021 Big Ten football schedule that was released on Friday. The schedule was updated in order to accommodate the following six games that adjusted locations as a result of changes made during the 2020 scheduling process:

· Indiana-Michigan

· Indiana-Michigan State

· Michigan-Michigan State

· Nebraska-Purdue

· Nebraska-Wisconsin

· Purdue-Wisconsin

The rotation of these Michigan State games in future seasons has been reset based on the location of the 2020 season.

All other opponents and locations remain intact from the previously approved version of the Big Ten schedule. The only additional changes involve the sequencing of games throughout the schedule, including the return of traditional rivalries in the final week of the season.

There is an old saying that anything one says before "but" should be disregarded.  The OP tagline has managed to successfully invert that, so well played there. ;)
