Wasn't this banned 120 years ago?
This seems like an echo of the rules changes in the Teddy Roosevelt era to ban the flying wedge. The chance of injury seems way too high to allow this to continue at every level of football.

what's the point of all these tushes if you can't push 'em once in a while amirite?

Absolutely nothing. I see a tush. I must push.

The bigger the cushion, the better the pushin’

Or so I have read....

No wonder Ryan Day just wants to throw the ball on shortage yardage situations. He is just looking out for the opposing DL with his tough OL and players pushing the ball carrier.

I have RGard's mother the ole tush push last night.

I'm going to write a letter to Harbaugh and get him to adopt my "rugby lineout maul" QB option-sneak play:
- Line up in a standard QB sneak formation. Keep an RB in the backfield.
- If the line doesn't get any push and the QB gets stood up, he should turn his back to the play to protect the ball and then pitch it out to the RB who can then scoot around the pile for an easy first down/TD.
The play would be unstoppable, especially the first time and no one would ever expect it.

Absolutely outstanding title. No way I'm not clicking on "Wasn't this banned 120 years ago?." Is it a thread about heroin? Direct election of US Senators? THe flying wedge? Doesn't matter, I'm in. Calling it clickbait would not do it justice.

I clicked to find out what the Mann Act had to do with Michigan football.
What a disappointment.

The OP needed to work in the phrase "one neat trick."

So anyone can push the opposing players forward, but pushing your own player forward should be a penalty? I disagree.

"Seems"? If defenses get hurt because of this play, in some significant fashion, then it's worth talking about. If not, then this is just camouflage for people/institutions who don't want this to happen for X Y Z reasons (e.g. they play the Eagles, they don't like contact football, etc).

Never shoulda been unbanned, it was fine before when it was illegal to push ball carriers from behind, otherwise one of these days one of these skinnier qbs is going to get seriously hurt as he gets bent in half.

This is not the same at all. There is no reason this should be banned, it's no more dangerous than anything else.

It will stay in fashion until a Philly's qb breaks his leg.

Dante' Culpepper didn't need no tush push.... he moved the line himself
