I can't help but notice the lack of Maizen-approved recruits since NIL became official. Don't shoot me. Or shoot me. I don't really care.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:49 PM ^
$$$NIL$$$
Continue to be disappointed with our NIL strategy (or lack thereof).
Can't even use the Block M.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Cash rules everything around me, CREAM, get the money, dolla dolla bills y’all.
I just wanted to insert some Wu-Tang. I hope Walter gets that money and has a great career.
November 6th, 2021 at 4:47 PM ^
I have a strict upvote all things Wu-Tang policy
November 6th, 2021 at 4:57 PM ^
Once again, our Ivy League president couldn't give 2 shits, let alone 1, about the Athletic Department. Good thing he will be gone.

Are other schools allowing athletes to use their trademarks? I honestly have no idea. I don’t practice trademark or copyright law so I don’t know the ramifications of allowing the use, but I have to imagine there are ways UM could allow a limited license, otherwise Nike, Champion, etc. couldn’t market gear.
November 6th, 2021 at 11:45 PM ^
I don’t know why people make such a big deal about that. Pro teams limit their athletes on use of their trademarks all the time. Damian Lillard has a Modelo commercial where he wears an unmarked jersey instead of his Portland uniform.
The PLAYERS are being paid to represent a brand/business. The school is not. So no use of the school’s trademark. pretty standard stuff.
November 6th, 2021 at 11:54 PM ^
Sigh.
Take a look at the NIL stuff coming from the SEC and tell me again about not allowing logos.
If you don't know what you're talking about, just don't.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
But the real question is will he still visit for OSU?
November 6th, 2021 at 3:21 PM ^
I thought NIL would help us but we seem to be way way behind everyone else in utilizing it.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:26 PM ^
Texas A&M had a multi-decade head start on its NIL program.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
"NIL" I believe in this case refers to TAMU offering the heftiest bag. I don't think A&M is doing anything ground breaking with NIL that other schools aren't doing. It is what it is, and not meant to be a shot at Walter Nolen. Kid wants to get paid and A&M offered up the dough. Best of luck to him.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:35 PM ^
These schools have gotten so clever with providing benefits. How many fake LLCs do you think have been set up that report zero earnings but pay millions for marketing and endorsements. The NCAA won't investigate it when it's right in their face, you think they'll do anything about this? Michigan won't allow that though. In fact they'll make rules that are more strict just out of spite.
November 6th, 2021 at 5:13 PM ^
Agreed on all fronts. This is how big time recruiting works. Michigan knows this is how it works and has the resources to participate; and yet they decline that invitation.
One's personal opinion on whether or not that is justified is a different conversation. The fact remains that if you want to compete with Alabama, UGA, OSU or Clemson with any consistency on the field, you have to play the same game they play in recruiting. Programs that are unwilling (like Michigan) or unable to do that generally have a hard ceiling season outlook of 10-2, 9-3 with the occasional "special season" sprinkled in.
That's why I don't think moving on from Harbaugh necessarily solves Michigan's problem. There is not a coach in America that can come to Michigan and win 11 games a year while also adhering to the institution's recruiting policy juxtaposed against the elite programs of college football; which unfortunately includes our arch rival.
November 6th, 2021 at 4:46 PM ^
That's a good point. They weren't getting punished, before, why stop now?
November 6th, 2021 at 3:43 PM ^
It’s not always just about NIL. A&M is where he wants to go. Good luck to the young man
November 6th, 2021 at 4:30 PM ^
Are you stupid ? It's the bag. Now go back to wonderland
November 6th, 2021 at 5:45 PM ^
A&M is a very mediocre team that has less of a chance to win their division than UM does. They do less with more talent than any team other than USC.
November 6th, 2021 at 7:11 PM ^
Exactly their best seasons in the SEC have been an Orange bowl win in a weird 2020 abbreviated season. Then a Cotton Bowl win, something they could have done in the Big 12.
November 6th, 2021 at 11:37 PM ^
I mean unless you recognize that Jimbo has win at A&M that is light years better than any single win Jim had at Michigan
November 6th, 2021 at 11:54 PM ^
While they finish 3rd or 4th as well in their division. As Jimbo gets another 10 million. With nothing to show for it.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:23 PM ^
I mean, this was a long shot anyway but….A&M is a little surprising.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:26 PM ^
Surprised he didn't choose Bama.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
Its not signing day yet.
And with the transfer portal, you may have to wait until the opening game to be sure.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:29 PM ^
And just like that...
November 6th, 2021 at 7:56 PM ^
The greatest trick that Walter Nolen ever pulled was putting us in his top 5.??
November 6th, 2021 at 10:35 PM ^
Seriously, I don't really think Michigan was ever a serious option and this is not a shot at Michigan. It's just hard to beat the southern pocketbooks when trying to recruit against a few of those schools - especially in the SEC
November 6th, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
It’s early we still have months to go ,Alabama will swoop in at the last minute
November 6th, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
"Commitment" doesn't mean what it used to.
Keep recruiting him.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:44 PM ^
I find this so weird. I've been to College Station, which is one of the ugliest, redneckiest campuses I've ever seen. Amazing that kids want to be there.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
What’s wrong with rednecks?
November 6th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
Redneckiest?
Have you been to Tuscaloosa?
Or anywhere in Mississippi?
Money talks, bullshit walks.
November 7th, 2021 at 8:19 AM ^
I thought the campus at Oxford was nice.
November 6th, 2021 at 3:56 PM ^
Maybe he wants to win? Did you not see the A&M game against Alabama earlier this year?
November 6th, 2021 at 5:04 PM ^
They also lost to two 5-3 teams. Miss St. and Arkansas. Jimbo will usually get one win a year to get the heat off.
November 6th, 2021 at 4:07 PM ^
Wasn't Michigan left off of the last 2 top 3 lists?
I'd had thought most fans had already moved on a couple of months ago...
November 7th, 2021 at 12:19 AM ^
Name ONE thing from which UM fans have moved on...ever...go!
November 6th, 2021 at 4:25 PM ^
So what kind of ranches are those that Jimbo owns?
November 6th, 2021 at 4:46 PM ^
Was it the NIL money there?
November 6th, 2021 at 5:17 PM ^
I don't trust any of these top-rated kids to stick with a school until they sign, but A&M has been a leader for him for a while.
November 6th, 2021 at 6:20 PM ^
Unless you have a really strong allegiance to a particular school or area of the country, money is going to make the difference. Michigan better get on the bandwagon
November 6th, 2021 at 9:57 PM ^
This is offense needs bitched out by the coaches. They are under performing horribly. This the game where they are simply going through the motions.
November 7th, 2021 at 1:52 AM ^
Happy he isn't choosing Alabama or OSU. Good luck to him.
