Are other schools allowing athletes to use their trademarks? I honestly have no idea.  I don’t practice trademark or copyright law so I don’t know the ramifications of allowing the use, but I have to imagine there are ways UM could allow a limited license, otherwise Nike, Champion, etc. couldn’t market gear.

I don’t know why people make such a big deal about that. Pro teams limit their athletes on use of their trademarks all the time. Damian Lillard has a Modelo commercial where he wears an unmarked jersey instead of his Portland uniform.

The PLAYERS are being paid to represent a brand/business. The school is not. So no use of the school’s trademark. pretty standard stuff.

These schools have gotten so clever with providing benefits. How many fake LLCs do you think have been set up that report zero earnings but pay millions for marketing and endorsements. The NCAA won't investigate it when it's right in their face, you think they'll do anything about this? Michigan won't allow that though. In fact they'll make rules that are more strict just out of spite.

Agreed on all fronts. This is how big time recruiting works. Michigan knows this is how it works and has the resources to participate; and yet they decline that invitation.

One's personal opinion on whether or not that is justified is a different conversation. The fact remains that if you want to compete with Alabama, UGA, OSU or Clemson with any consistency on the field, you have to play the same game they play in recruiting. Programs that are unwilling (like Michigan) or unable to do that generally have a hard ceiling season outlook of 10-2, 9-3 with the occasional "special season" sprinkled in.

That's why I don't think moving on from Harbaugh necessarily solves Michigan's problem. There is not a coach in America that can come to Michigan and win 11 games a year while also adhering to the institution's recruiting policy juxtaposed against the elite programs of college football; which unfortunately includes our arch rival.

I find this so weird. I've been to College Station, which is one of the ugliest, redneckiest campuses I've ever seen. Amazing that kids want to be there.

Unless you have a really strong allegiance to a particular school or area of the country, money is going to make the difference. Michigan better get on the bandwagon

This is offense needs bitched out by the coaches. They are under performing horribly.   This the game where they are simply going through the motions.
