UPDATED: Back of scoreboard - Maize M looks a-go
From 9:45 this morning, I took these on my morning run. Drove by 20 minutes ago and looks the same...
It might be hard to see, but that maize strip on the bottom ends before the panel ends, so that is the width of the foot the the block M.
If I'm not too busy, I'll update here in the afternoon. When I drove by around 10:50 they had another blue piece hanging from a crane. Watching paint dry has never been so fun.
EDIT: About 5:20pm on Thursday:
And here's a shot of the almost completed Elbel Field Band Practice field, now turfed:
Not the Wagon of Shame!
Our already awesome stadium is going to be even more awesome now. I'm so excited for football season that I want to start headbutting my co-workers.
Hmm, Hart seems to be a bit careless with the ball here, while Denard has it very high and tight. No wonder Hart had problems with fumbing...
I'm kidding here, obviously.
I feel like this is the hit that hurt his knee that game... Painful to remember
it is, I believe that was the only time he was touched by a bowling green defender while he was in.
If I'm not mistaken, that's the play on which Denard was injured against BGSU.
EDIT: Nevermind.
Those pics really do put its size into perspective.
I wonder if its going to be the block M with or without the banner that that says MICHIGAN on it. I think Id prefer without..

PLEASE NOTE: The “split block M”—the version that has the word Michigan written across the M—is offered as an alternative here only because it was registered and in use prior to these guidelines. It should be used sparingly and only in settings where we need to graphically distinguish ourselves from another university that uses some form of an "M" as their logo, such as the University of Minnesota. This version of the Block M should not be used as a department logo, or on print pieces or web banners created in the future.
I *think* I just saw as I drove by that the point in the middle of the M was as low as the other parts of the letter, as only seen in the M with michigan written across it. I hope I'm wrong though. Anyone else see it recently with the additional back pieces?
I appreciate all updated pictures of the scoreboards. I commend DB for making this happen
NIce shot - shows how stately and classy - and imposing - the letters & scoreboards are.
for the pic.
Wonder if those babies are going to be backlit for night games.
What about nightly, all year round?
They really do look 3D.
Am I right in assuming that they aren't inlaid into the scoreboard?
they're going to need to put air conditioning in there if anyone has to go inside it. On a hot early fall afternoon, that thing will be like an oven inside.
Vents/cooling will be a part of the system if for no other reason than to control the heat created by the board itself.
The guy who has to sit inside that thing to change the numbers after each score will certainty appreciate some air conditioning.
"Like"
back when I was running I couldn't stand to carry anything, even a water bottle.
Not really. I have an iPhone, which is my iPod, which has a camera. It also has a swiss army knife, a map of Germany, and a spare change of clothes.
He had said in the comments he took it on his phone. But I even hate having keys in my pocket during running, which causes some problems. Maybe an arm band to hold his phone?
EDIT: Beat to the punch by the horse's mouth
It's gonna be so perrrtty when it's completed! I cannot wait!
nice shots...gracias
Off the topic of the post, but does anyone know when UofM plans on mailing paper tickets out this year? Our family has 3 season tickets, but they go to my parent's house and I'm always fearful of them falling into the black hole until I visit the parents and have them physically in hand.
Received my Notre Dame ticket packs and 2 singles yesterday but not my season tickets. I'm guessing those will be mailed out by the second week of august.
People in my group got them yesterday and today.

6:00 to 12:00
I feel all tingly inside.
It looks like they're going with the split block M again. Check out this photo, the point of the "M" is way lower than the photoshopped version...
I was going to say the same - that piece looks like it may be moved up.
I hope your correct. I HATE the split M.
One sign it probably isn't the split M: there is no outline around the M. Every version of the split M seems to have an outline:
just saw this too. Maybe they made a mistake and put the point down too soon/low?
Drove by about an hour ago. That piece with the tip is not there anymore. Hopes for a solid block M still intact!
Now when we beat our Rivals and use our "Scoreboard" aruguement it has a whole new meaning!
Need MOAR pictures!
DONE!
Will that field be open for public use?
Nothing is decided yet, last I heard, but unlikely.
The band and club sports will have it most the time. Intramurals may have some time there.
