Well the wings are always Hot-N-Ready to exit the first round...

would be most accurate.

Not surprising. The days of pro venues being anything but named after corporations are long gone. Once The Palace goes, I'd expect the pistons to move to this place.
This arena will host NCAA First & Second Round games in 2018.
You can probably chalk it up for a Sweet Sixteen/Elite Eight some day since they moved those regional finals back into arenas.
The Frozen Four will no doubt be there some day.
NHL ASG, NHL draft, etc..

Thought I just heard somewhere that Madison Square Garden is the only NHL arena without a corporate sponsor. Just a fact of where we are today. Build a stadium, it gets sponsored.

No way they'd leave an already paid for arena. But expect a 10-15 game swap with the Wings though. DRW will play 10-15 games at the Palace and the Pistons will play 10-15 games at LCA. All home playoff games will stay at their regular venue.
Also -- If the Gores/Gilbert soccer arena happens, don't be surprised if the Pistons and Cavs play an outdoor game there, or indoor if they add a retractable roof.
The Wings will never play at the Palace especially not with a brand new arena where Ilitch controls 100% of the profits (don't forget all the parking revenues). They have season ticket holders from Windsor who will never drive all the way up there. When the new arena was in the planning stages, Olympia sent out a survey asking people if they would attend Wings games at the Palace (this was when Ilitch was thinking about buying the Pistons) and a strong majority said no.

Just because I'm hoping Little Caesars goes bankrupt so the idiotic-sounding name of this kickass arena gets changed, doesn't mean I'm miserable.

Should name it Palatine Hill. The center hill of the 7 hills of Rome where the ceasars resided.
Should be Olympia. Fail.

Worst part is the LED roof originally planned for the arena is now scrapped, to be replaced with "the world's largest Little Caesars image."
Yep. The roof will be a Little Caesars logo.
I can't even.
"Besides unveiling the name for the arena, Ilitch also unveiled a new logo, a swirling circular image that will adorn the roof of the new arena as well as all marketing materials."
Also, apparently the LED technology would have been prohibitively heavy to go on the roof? Still incredibly stupid they're going with the United Center route and putting the freaking company logo on the roof.
Do they also specify that the LED roof has been scrapped, or are you surmising?
LED roof was a dumb idea. Fact is, nobody on the ground (or in the air during the day) would ever see it. Also, how the hell would an LED roof work in Detroits winter weather? What if we got 2 feet of snow? It just never made sense to me. I could see trying it in LA or Phoenix, but Detroit?!
What about the LC for short? Easy enough and seems to flow well.
Think you're on the right track. Heard "LCA" and think it's a bit smoother. Just my 2 cents.
If anyone knows smooth, it's the guy name Pepto Bismol.
They're now called "College Hockey at the Joe".
"College Hockey at the..." How to you shorten Little Caesar's to one syllable?
Dough.
College Hockey at the Dough.
D'oh.

Hey All,
Had to start up my account just to post this out here: I've always found the increasing corporate presence in pro sports to be sad and dehumanizing. Especially when teams are given substantial public funds for the purpose of private profit, it grates me that our meeting places have names like "Little Caesar's Arena" instead of something representing the spirit of the community. To that end, I've started a petition with the goal of having Olympia Entertainment reconsider the name of this stadium.
If you feel like I do, please sign the linked petition and SHARE with those who might be interested.

Thanks, and Go Blue!

This guy starts holding a hockey stick and wearing skates. (And how about manscaping that nest of manfuzz creeping through the top of your tunic?? And tuck that right pinkie in wierdo!!)
And now I'm sad. Better get to as many games as I can at the Joe next year.

I don't care about the name on the outside. I care about the team on the inside.
