UPDATE: Drake Harris did not tear hamstring

Submitted by OaklandInPlay on

I sincerely apologize for the scare guys.

Drake Harris did not tear his hamstring. A poster on rivals who is usually reliable, assumed it was torn but the mods are saying he just tweaked it and could be out for the rest of spring practice.

Something is going on... Friend of the family said they are pretty pissed at U of M and Harbaugh.  Trying to find out specifically why now.  Not sure if they feel like Harris was pushed too soon or what, but sounds like there is more to the story than just a pulled hamstring that will keep him out a couple weeks.

I gotta say, I hate this kind of post. It's like dredging up muck. I would imagine at any given time, there's at least one person who's pissed at Harbaugh. I'm sure he rubs some the wrong way. And I, for one, don't need to be privvy to every incident in which he did aggravate someone.

ha you better hope "your friend of the family" has accurate information or else you might get hammered worse than the OP.

very unfortunate for harris though - people with these types of constant injuries typically do not end up well.  he no doubt has some serious scar tissue back there by now, thatll likely remain an issue as well.  sucks for harris, dude seemed jacked to finally be 'healthy' this spring

Hope he comesback healthy, but was never going to count on him. I have more faith in the emergence of Cole and Ways and Canteen development. Plus the utilaztion of two tight ends in Butt & Bunting.

I saw the orginal title going into a meeting, was uneasy and a little perturbed throughout the meeting, and then came back to see the edit. First and foremost, thank you to the OP for changing this so that there was not mass panic...well, more mass panic anyway. Second, definitely be careful about reporting injuries of any kind - we've had some problems with such threads historically. Rare but significant issues, we'll say.

First, it's tenuous when professional, experienced journalists race to break news.  For an relatively new internet forum poster to rush to "break news" is just downright fraught with peril.

Second, you increase your exposure even more when you poach information from the pay sites.  In case you haven't figured out, that really annoys some poeple around these parts.

Bottom line -- you took a risk, and now you have some pie on your face.  If you're going to "report" a major injury, my opinion is that the mods should hold you accountable when you're wrong (or even premature).

(But only temporarily because at least you "updated ... cough ... admitted your irresponsibility ... cough" in the orginal post)

Wondering if this kid will ever see the field. He can't seem to shake the injury bug.

Thank goodness we have many viable options at WR. Losing Drake again sucks, but at this point it is time it isn't a huge loss. I hope Drake gets his health together at some point so he can how case his talent.

Some guys' bodies just aren't built for high-level athletic competition; for whatever reason, they are "injury-prone," even when they take care of themselves properly and rehab the right way, etc. As a Dallas Cowboys fan, I've seen this phenomenon w/Sean Lee -- the guy is a terrific linebacker: smart, hard-hitting, great instincts, makes plays all over the field, a natural leader. But he also can't manage to stay on the field, and had the same problem when he was at Penn St.

I wish Drake the best and hope he gets past this, but it would be wise for all of us to re-calibrate our expectations for him as a Michigan WR from "future superstar" to "any meaningful contribution will be a pleasant surprise."

The update says he didn't "tear" them, but a tweak would still be a tear, albeit not as severe as a complete rupture.

Seriously when is the last time this guy was at full strength? Serious question. Didn't he miss his senior year  of HS? So like 3 years and he hurts the hammy again?

I almost wonder if Harbaugh wants him off the team. Could it be an addition by subtraction type deal because the kid is constantly injured? Just seems weird he has been out so long. And now the family being mad at him rumor.

My daughter blew out 3 ACL's and still managed to be named team captain and lead her D1 soccer team to multiple league championships and two NCAA tournament bids in 5 years.  We considered that amazing.  Don't give up on this young talent sooooo quickly.  Hang in there Drake and keep your head AND your heart up.
