UMass AD has a sense of humor
So this is just a little heresay, but I thought I would post it here anyways:
Someone I know was out playing his usual round of golf yesterday, and during the momentary downpour in Ann Arbor, he happened to find shelter under a pavillion with another party of golfers, all wearing UMass hats.
Conversation ensued, and he found out that the UMass crowd just happened to be the AD, an asstant AD, and a couple of (probably pretty major) donors. Of course, the question came up: "how do you guys plan on stopping Denard?" It was unclear from the way I heard the story, but one of them responded, "well, we are going to do the same thing you guys did to Crist last week - poke him in the eye."
Again, I can't verify any of this, but I thought it was funny, so I'm passing it along.

I'm hoping he was joking...

If Denard comes out in goggles, we'll know the AD wasn't joking.

I just pictured Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in dreads and a Michigan football uniform....

Although funny, it is probly not a good idea to make a joke about a head injury when your an AD.

I assume, since it was a joke between men on a golf course, he never thought it would make it to the interwebs. HA!

No way. Anyone should be able to make that joke. If he said something like, "We're going to crush his skull until he gets a concussion and can't see out of one eye," that might be a little closer to inappropriate, depending on how he said it. "We're going to poke him in the eye" is just plain funny.

He was obviously joking and having a good time out on the course. You guys should have joined his group and had a nice 4v4 scramble going. He seems like a guy with a good sense of humor, probably would have been a blast.

You're offending everyone named Nancy. You need to apologize and edit your statement.

That is funny. I hope he has as good a sense of humor after the game, of course they get a pretty nice payday.

His best chance to stop Denard is to get down 21 early in the 1st quarter and then deal with the other two for the rest.
September 17th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
Yeah I was thinking Denard is going to put 270 or so on the ground making those 21 points in say six plays.

ass...he is too fast.

I am just going to leave this one alone. Too easy.

yeah dude, a joke that includes 1) inventing a dirty play that our defender didn't commit and 2) our best player in the last 20 years getting deliberately injured is f - - - - - - hilarious. I just can't stop laughing.
