UM - BGSU - Hockey Thread

Submitted by South Bend Wolverine on

Hockey looks to get back on the right track after a disappointing season-opener again Mercyhurst.  Hopefully BGSU can do the same thing for hockey that they did for football!  No liveblogs anywhere, so I thought I'd start up a little open thread here.

Audio is available at Mgbolue.com, video at http://www.b2livetv.com/partner_members.asp?id=283 ($7).  Also, Comcast Ann Arbor is broadcasting the game.

Sounds from the radio like we're off to a good start - no score yet, though.

In the Atlanta/Washington game tonight, Atlanta's goalie collapsed during a stoppage of play. He was taken off on a stretcher. They worked on him for about 10 minutes on the ice before taking him off on a stretcher. No word on his status...

thoughts and prayers to him and his family

The penalties are out of control and Michigan seems to be getting called for just getting tangled up with a BGSU guy.  It's almost like the refs are trying to keep Bowling Green from getting swept off the ice.

Cleary on a 2-1 pass from datsyuk...it was originally no goal, reviewed and the wings got lucky on it because I do not think it should have counted....however, that is some owed karma to Detroit from the NHL lol

The Wings go up 4-0 on a mystifying call by Toronto (I'm positive that net was off). Also, the refs for the Michigan game are Aaron and Brown for anyone who wants to know. I seem to remember Aaron being extremely incompetent last year.

If the puck going in the net is obvious and imminent, it doesn't matter that the net came off.  Basically, if it wasn't completely the offensive players fault the net came off, the puck goes in just after the net comes off and the motion of the net doesn't affect the motion of the puck, or cause the puck to go in sideways or something, a goal can still be awarded.
