The man was a hell of a blocker.
Best of luck to him and his new adventure. I hope he does well at his new school

I will always remember this play double (almost triple) block against Maryland, dude just got after it.
January 9th, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
Better block than this one by Jehu Chesson?

That was a fantastic block! Somehow I had forgotten about it.
Thanks for posting it!

Tough player and a great story for a walk on loved watching him play and wish him the best of luck next year. Hope he becomes a featured back and has a huge season
I think a grad transfer is the best situation for him as he probably would’ve seen very little time next season. Thanks for all your hard work Tru and good luck!
January 9th, 2020 at 4:24 PM ^
Best of luck to him. I enjoyed watching him play.
January 9th, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
Gave the program everything he had.
Hope he has a great final year.
January 9th, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
Does that put them @ 85 on scholarship now?
January 9th, 2020 at 5:36 PM ^
Yes, but with us sniffing around the transfer portal we could see more guys leave
January 9th, 2020 at 8:24 PM ^
Why does this matter?
Honestly.
Have we ever been ineligible because of too many players? People are obsessed with the scholarship limit.
January 9th, 2020 at 4:29 PM ^
Great teammate and huge heart. Time to get that free Masters degree !
Does this constitute the "firm handshake" exit or just realization he is likely going to be 4th or even 5th on the depth chart ?
January 9th, 2020 at 4:36 PM ^
Probably both? With Evans back and Charbonnet's blocking and Haskins emergence and add in Turner/Corum, can't imagine he would have seen a lot of meaningful snaps, but also given that he was a walk on who earned two one-year scholarships, probably not a situation where you're spending that scholarship for a 5th year when you may need it for grad transfers at other positions? Little different than the "4 year scholarship" offer other players get when they commit.
Either way, we were lucky to have had him and he deserves a ton of credit for his hard work and perseverance.

Shea Evans.

No.
Aid-in-kind is annual and renews annually. There is no such thing as one 4 year scholarship.
January 9th, 2020 at 6:37 PM ^
That is not true. The B1G went to guaranteeing 4 year scholarships several years ago:
All Power 5 schools now do this:

Beat me to it by about 1 minute. Found the link and you’d already responded. You were much kinder than I would have been. Too many people love to assert “facts” that are really fiction.

I am the opposite of most people. I am nice on the internet and an asshole in person...

He actually had better stats in 2018 than 2019. He got zero carries against OSU and Alabama. That surprised me a little, especially against Bama because one strategy had been to bring in a fresh back in the second half to continue pounding away at the defense, but they didn't use Tru against OSU and Bama. Of course, the whole 2nd half strategy against Bama remains a mystery. Let's just have our QB who hasn't shown an ability to hit the deep ball keep chucking it up. It's like the basketball shooter who is 0 for 10 from 3 and he keeps shooting. Just a dumb strategy by Gattis, or typical Harbaugh stubbornness, but whatever.

Great player who gave his best - wish him great success (unless they place us which......)
January 9th, 2020 at 4:30 PM ^
Truuuuuuu. Congrats on your past and future success.
Charbonnet learned well because he has followed in your line of bad ass blockers.
January 9th, 2020 at 4:32 PM ^
Good for him. He gave it his all, got a degree and now can go give it all he's got for one more year. Interested to see where he lands.
January 9th, 2020 at 4:33 PM ^
They should show his double pancake against Maryland to every player as an example of the effort required to play.

Good luck Tru. Wish you much success on your next endeavor. A Tru Michigan Man!!

Made the most of his opportunities, respect to Truuuuu

Thanks for teaching all the RBs how to block. Man that was a disaster before this kid. All the best Tru Wilson, good luck at the next stop.
Hopefully this increases the chances of Turner sticking around.

Thanks for everything, Tru. You were/are a hell of a player and I hope you get a shot to start wherever you head next.
Curious if this was voluntary, or a "firm handshake" from Harbaugh given what Michigan currently has in the stable with Haskins/Charbonnet/Turner, and then another highly ranked recruit in Corum being already on campus,
January 9th, 2020 at 5:00 PM ^
Wish him luck. He could probably get a decent number of carries on a lower-level team, so makes sense he goes looking for that shot. Glad he got his degree, and it was nice to watch him play.
January 9th, 2020 at 5:06 PM ^
Probably smart on his part. He's not gonna play much next year.
January 9th, 2020 at 5:24 PM ^
ADIEUUUUUUUU!!!

Tru Wilson is staying at Michigan.
False

Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
January 9th, 2020 at 5:30 PM ^
He is the most explosive back on the roster and should have gotten more carries this year. I do not blame him for transferring.
January 9th, 2020 at 8:10 PM ^
Really?
January 9th, 2020 at 9:48 PM ^
Tru has the quickest burst through a hole of any current RB on the roster. He is much faster than Zach or Haskins, who are larger more lumbering RBs.
For pure take off through the hole burst, imo Tru had both of those guys beaten and should have played more. Check out his run vs. ND for example. Pure burst.
January 10th, 2020 at 12:27 AM ^
Christian Turner can’t hold on to the ball but in terms of burst through the hole he’s the best on the roster. He has a different gear that Tru isn’t touching.
January 9th, 2020 at 5:39 PM ^
Best wishes to the young man!
January 9th, 2020 at 5:39 PM ^
I hope it’s totally his decision because he wants to play. Because even if he had 5 carries next season, Tru is the type of senior leader who can really make a difference all season on the practice field and in the locker room. High character and a leader.
January 9th, 2020 at 6:30 PM ^
I think you've forgotten that he is a walkon.
January 9th, 2020 at 6:42 PM ^
Probably gonna be starting for the Patriots in two years.
January 9th, 2020 at 6:43 PM ^
Completely understandable. This is why the grad transfer rule exists.
Tru was great for us. A walk-on that earned serious snaps and used them well; his hard work will pay off at a D-1 program as a serious rotation (maybe even starting) back somewhere.
Good for him. He’ll always be a Michigan man to me.
January 9th, 2020 at 8:25 PM ^
Presumably this is because he wants to start someplace else. I wonder if it's because he simply loves to play and wants the chance to do so, or whether he thinks he has a chance of landing on an NFL team.
January 9th, 2020 at 8:36 PM ^
I don't like the term grad transfer here. If a guy graduated and has already been at a place for 4 years does he have to transfer? Doesn't he just attend grad at a different school than his undergrad? Non-athletes do that all the time and don't transfer. Does UM have the rights to that athlete for a 5th year?
