Today's Schedule of Games

Submitted by M-Dog on December 31st, 2022 at 10:20 AM

This post is completely pointless, there are only four games being played today.  But Michigan has won every time I have posted this, so I’m not stopping now.

There is only one game that matters today.  Well, one and a half actually ;)

Here are the highlights:

In the Afternoon at 4:00 PM on ESPN: #3 TCU vs. #2 Michigan.  CFP Semifinal 1 – Fiesta Bowl.  If the time-tested rules of football apply, then the team that wins the battle of the trenches will win the game.  That team is Michigan.  We have far better lines than TCU on both sides of the ball.  Contain TCU’s stars on offense – Duggan, Johnston, Miller – and minimize explosive plays.  Then let trench warfare do its thing.  Michigan defeats TCU and moves on to the National Championship game.

GO BLUE!

In the Evening at 8:00 PM on ESPN: #4 Ohio State vs. #1 Georgia.  CFP Semifinal 2 – Peach Bowl.  If we win our CFP semi-final game, we should realistically be rooting for Ohio State to be our opponent in the CFP final.  We match up much better with them than we do with Georgia, who is an enhanced version of ourselves.  And we have already shown we can beat them in their own house in perfect weather conditions.  But . . . I just can’t bring myself to do it.  Screw Ohio State, who snuck into the CFP through the back door after getting blown out in perfect conditions for them.  I hope that Georgia demolishes them and sends them home questioning everything.  It may not be total domination, but Georgia will overpower Ohio State and win the game.

I live in Maryland and my wife is a Duke grad.  So we went to the Duke - UCF bowl game in Annapolis, MD.

OMG, there were so many TV time outs for commercials that it was painful to watch in person.  There was no kind of rhythm or game flow whatsoever.  And this was only the Military Bowl.

They are going to kill the sport if they do not start to show some restraint.

Looks like a good day to plant my lazy ass in my chair and not move till around 3:50. Then pace around to the tune of 15000 steps in a 15x30 room. Iowa has sludge fart written all over it, but Bama looks like a good opportunity to further prove the big 12 sucks.

Alabama is going to crush Kanas State. Saban is a little butt hurt he didn’t make the playoffs and he’s going to run the score up. I’m as tired of the SEC rules the world narrative as anybody but this one will be ugly. Bama wins big 42-17.

My wife looked up, saw Pat McAfee wearing that awful tee-shirt/outfit/whatever the hell it is, and said "that is not a shirt that a man wears".  LMAO!!!

BTW, in other Gameday news, the crew did the whole 'difference maker, x-factor, etc' thing on the field.  Only Desmond said that Roman Wilson could be an x-factor.  Not one other person named a Michigan player.  McAfee did mention Moody, and everybody laughed at him for picking a kicker.  And the coverage seems to follow that pattern.  These guys aren't giving Michigan a lot of love this morning...

Thank you for posting.  I completely forgot that there was still some college football to be played.  I am at a loss as my Spartan relatives are usually pretty good about keeping college football my mind.  They were very quiet this year around the holidays.  Bowl games never came up.  Not once.

Absolutely no pressure on Iowa today. They may win 7-6 with one FG and 2 safeties. Starting a QB who's never played, several players have left, but still a great D. UK doesn't have Levis, which opted out.

KSU punched Bama in the mouth and lead 10-0...but, this is why the game is 4 quarters.

Let's see if Bama can settle in now that they got their TD.

Coaching/Scheme can make games interesting, but talent 'should' win out...

It's good lesson for Michigan: Teams in the CFPs are good. They'll make some plays...just keep playing to your identity and gameplan.
