Today's Schedule of Games

Submitted by M-Dog on October 19th, 2019 at 9:53 AM

Not much of a schedule . . . good day to get chores done until our game starts.

But college football is still college football, even if it's just on in the background.

At noon, Florida at South Carolina is one of those "Don't let a team beat you twice" games.  Florida is going to have a bad post-LSU hangover, and at South Carolina is not exactly the Bloody Mary cure they need.

Clemson at Louisville is getting some hype, but I'm not feeling it.

In the afternoon, Oregon at Washington is the headliner . . . and that's kind of it.  LSU at Miss State might be worth a look to see what the Moorhead offense-in-transition looks like at other places.  It's not as easy as we all thought.

Our game at night.  If it becomes too big of a blowout (you know, Michigan blowing out Penn State, what did you think I meant?) Arizona State at Utah will be a meaningful game.  If Herm wins, I will forever my revise definition of what "competence" means.

Your (early) Pac 12 After Dark special:  Arizona at USC.  Should be fun, just because.

I'm guilty of sleeping on Baylor.  I still feel as if they got a sort of virtual Death Penalty and that would be the end of them . . . but, damn, they managed to keep it going.  Speaks to the amazing talent that is in Texas.  The overflow alone could win most conferences.

watching OSU last night play like they were all on steroids made me not look forward to any games today.  Got stuff to do anyway.

Matt Rhule is a good coach. What he has done at Baylor in a short time is remarkable turning around that program after Briles. He was good at Temple too!

If we ever move on from JH, I put him and Matt Campbell has 2 high on the list. Both young (45 and younger) and have done good things at smaller programs.

I’m interested in Temple at SMU.  Also, Minnesota.  I wonder if Fleck would be interested in UM.  I think Michigan needs a younger couch who can connect with the kids

Even that may be a winnable game for the Gophers---we'll know later tonight if Penn St is legit.  If they're not, keep in mind that the Penn St-Minnesota game is in Minneapolis, not Happy Valley, and will likely be a toss-up.

After that, the only remaining tough game for Fleck and Company before the season-ender vs Wisky (also in Minneapolis) is their rivalry game at Iowa.

You make valid points. I just have a hard time putting much stock in Minnesota this season considering the wins they've had to pull out of their ass against vastly inferior teams. There's a very real chance they could go 11-1 (I can't see them beating Wisconsin despite getting them at home) which would be pretty incredible considering their 5-13 combined B1G record in Fleck's first two years.

Ultimately I think they'll be 9-3 which is still nothing to sneeze at from a Gopher fan standpoint.

I'm thinking 10-2.  Only the slimmest of possibilities they beat Wisky, and they go 1-1 against Penn St and Iowa.  That game at Iowa City, even though it's in November, I would guess will be at night @ Kinnick Stadium, a tough task for anyone.

That may not be true, I just saw that NC State, VT,and IU have worse schedules, and given how bad the ACC is, probably not a surprise.  Right now according to Sagarin, Minnesota SOS is 74, IU is 127, Va Tech is 107, I agree that those colleges' schedule will get tougher while Minnesota's gets worse until their last 3-4 games.

Y’all are sleeping on moou vs. bye week.  You might look up some stats and see that sparty didn’t score any points this weekend and just assume they played a game.

Really fancy schmancy shit today. Yesterday, I had a fancy schmancy beer. It was good. Saw some fancy schmancy people, too.

Scott Satterfield has done a heck of a job at Louisville.  That team was a corpse at the end of last season, but Satterfield has made them respectable in half-a-season.  It will be interesting to see how long they can hang with Clemson.

I just saw Purdue has 12 starters that are true or RS freshmen.  If they don't get downtrodden from weekly obliteration, that's a LTFO in 2 years.  They could be real good.

Trevor Lawrence does not look like the same guy from last year.  I don't know if he has a bum arm, or his mind ain't on football or what, but the decline from his freshman year is pretty steep.  He's made a couple truly horrible throws in the 1st Q.

As I watch the BTN Halftime Report, it suddenly dawned on me that the worst thing about Minnesota being undefeated right now is that we have to listen to Glen Mason and his endless cheerleading.
