Today's B10 Hoops + Tomorrow's Game v. ohio

Some interesting B10 hoops on tap for today. Most of us will be busy doing other things but will be checking scores when we can. First game is a 'double-rivalry' game, (excepting out ohio and Illinois), with sparty playing Rutgers. Rutgers has been ranked and had a solid season, meanwhile I still think sparty is dangerous even if their record looks a lot like ours.

this might be the game of the day. Purdue is good, but also has been the benefactor of a seeming ton of good fortune in their wins. Might be a test in Bloomington today.
And tomorrow at 1:00 we play ohio at Crisler. ohio is on something like an 8-game losing streak (grief counseling is available) but for our part, we have shown alternating 'pretty good-then-really bad' games and parts of games. Would be very nice to pick up the 'W' tomorrow. As an aside, a college buddy of mine had a couple extra tickets and I will be attending with one of the kids. It's a 'Blue Out' game, so for anyone attending, get that blue Michigan shirt or coat.
Supposed to get above freezing today. Planning on letting the lambs out in the pasture. Nearly spring-like weather....

Hard to watch any game they play in, TBH. The game in EL this year was brutal to watch, not even sure you could call whatever that was "Basketball". Maybe Assketball?

That was imposed on them by the conference. They are a little salty about being the only B10 team to have been subjected to that twice. Tough luck, I say. They can always go back to whatever conference they came from, if it still exists.

Izzo says he loves playing at MSG. It would seem the fair thing to do is trade off. Let Rutgers keep a home game and have their opponent give up a home game every other year. There has to be a fair way.

As bad as we have played all year, go 6-3 in the last 9 games and win one in the BTT and that should get us in the tourney. Not easy but we dont play a single ranked team for the rest of the season and its likely we get the single bye potentially a double bye in the BTT if everyone keeps cannibalizing each other. Again not easy but doable. Next 3 are all at home and are all MUST win games. FUCK OHIO!

If they go 6-3 in the last 9 and go 1-1 in the BTT that means they would be 8-4 in the last 12 games 19-14 overall and 12-8 in the big ten and 6 quad 1 teams in our last 9 games that we would get to add to the resume. It would shock me if that left us out of the NCAA tourney. Last season we ended 17-14 after going 0-1 in the big ten tourney with 6 quad 1 wins and we were comfortably in the tourney.

6-3 barely gets us on the bubble. Then very sure that the loss to CMU will be factored in when selections are made.

I don't know accurate Torvik's teamcast is, but I was curious and ran the numbers and according to that particular algorithm, they basically have to win out to make the tourney. 1, maybe 2 losses, puts them right on the bubble. Anything more and zero chance.

Indiana is ranked in every poll and metric (and ascending with multiple key players back from early season injuries) and we still play them twice. Illinois is ranked in 1 and will be ranked in all next week if they get by Iowa today - we finish @ Illinois and @ Indiana. Rutgers could also very well be ranked when we play @ rutgers in 3 weeks.
