Things that bothered me before/during the OSU game- Festivus edition
Michigan was getting a ton of disrespect before THE GAME-
8pt betting dog
5 of 6 Fox analysts predict OSU victory (F them)
Reggie Bush- Michigan only scored 1 TD versus Illinois- half time "OSU took Michigan's best shot"
OSU Defense greatly improved
Urban Meyer- "Can Wolverine receivers separate from man coverage?" "They (OSU) will stop the run" - Michigan had 252 yards rushing so Urban's prediction did not age well.
Michigan is overrated- they haven't played anyone
This is a fun 26 minute rant that covers most of this-

The Game ended just when it was getting good! Okie was screwed out of a fumble and UM would have had another score as they recovered it and may have even run it in then.

I didn't see the game, only some highlights. What exactly was the official explanation for that overturned fumble? OSU turned if over later on that drive anyway IIRC so, ultimately, it didn't matter but that was just...bizarre.

The ref claimed he ruled Strouds forward progress stopped...on a sack...where he was tackled immediately.
December 22nd, 2022 at 5:37 PM ^
Yes and it was a pity call to salvage his draft status more than anything.

I think the refs blew the whistle too quickly and then had to come up with a lame explanation for why. (There was also some recognition that the game was essentially over and the call wouldn't make any difference). Still, it was poetic justice when we intercepted Stroud's pass on the very next play. Well, maybe not QUITE justice -- we would have scored a TD on the fumble recovery -- but not bad, not bad ...

Forward progress when a QB is dropping back to pass? Ooooookay.
I hope Harbaugh submitted that play to the league office so the official who made THAT call was properly reprimanded.
Thank goodness it had no bearing on the outcome of the game.

Ohio State scores on a big play: "electric offense, playmakers all over the field, can strike at any time, too much talent to be stopped"
Michigan scores on a big play: "defense messed up"
December 22nd, 2022 at 5:30 PM ^
Exactly, I've told that to friends repeatedly.

Thank for pointing that out. OSU lives on big plays and that's ok but not Michigan.

It’s not always clear what’s going to happen and I’m retrospect events seem so obvious. There was reason for optimism but Illinois made us sweat for a long time and OSU’s defense was perceived to be as good. We didn’t know we’d get Edwards back or that he’d moss them for 200+ yards. Was just a fantastic game and our guys performed very well.

Festivus is tomorrow! "I got a lotta problems with you people, and now you're going to hear about it!" tomorrow!

Also it’s so fucking annoying that Urban Meyer won’t say Michigan as an analyst. “Wolverines” so much for non-bias.
December 22nd, 2022 at 4:38 PM ^
That entire Fox network team was anti Michigan except for Charles! I got sick of hearing how great OSU was and how much of a blowout it was going to be that I turned off the volume! Did not need snarky remarks.
December 22nd, 2022 at 5:53 PM ^
That's not "anti-Michigan," though -- that was the general consensus before the game! Everyone not a dedicated Michigan fan thought it was going to be a decisive Ohio State win. The line was eight freaking points!
I thought Ohio State would win easily too. Brian picked Ohio State as well. An undefeated team, with a whole season to plan its "revenge," at home, with all those studs on the offense, against a Michigan team missing its star running back which had just escaped the previous game, at home, against an unranked team?
I mean, yeah, none of that turned out to matter. But it wasn't "anti-Michigan" bias. It was "analysis." It turned out to be fundamentally incorrect analysis, heh heh. :-)

I could see why OSU was favored but an analysis of in the trenches showed Michigan still had an advantage in the trenches, so I was optimistic. OSU was down to PSU late in the game and how do you watch the OSU/Northwestern game and not think if that was Michigan instead of NW that OSU loses.

Stroud fumbled and it should have been 52-23.

jumping the gun a bit; it's Festivus eve

Speaking of Urbs, it is fascinating how much better Jacksonville has been playing since they canned him.

One time can be considered a fluke…twice in a row by 3 scores is a pattern. As a life rule I can’t stand hollow hype. I like Reggie’s Wendy’s commercials and that’s about it. Urban realized he couldn’t bully a team of grown as men and got his ass punked but no one talked about how he tried to be big and bad and even the kicker called him out as fraudulent.

Edit: Been here 5 years and first double post…my bad.

thing that bothered me before and after the OSU game: the continued belief that every single goddamned youtube video or twitter post that references michigan football in any way deserves its own dumbassed promotional post on this message board.

Negged. Giving analyst and pundits doubt on the illusion this is still a fraud UM team. Keep letting them think OSU is still better. So, they can keep recruiting top caliber WRs and nothing else. So, they can still think all BIG is the inferior product vs them. Keep pushing them slower into BPONE land to where UM pushes them off the ledge unexpectedly and finally experience what UM and UM fandom has endured in the last 15 years. Lord, I hate ‘em
