Is there an update to the OSU Notice of Allegations coming?
In light of the Mandel SI article on OSU possibly getting off light, I've just been wondering if we should even be expecting an updated or amended Notice of Allegations from the NCAA to OSU. Mandel seemed to think that OSU would get off light simply because the NCAA's NoA was light on actual allegations, as opposed to the other purported instances of wrongdoing that have been floating around (i.e. in local news, in very informative SI articles, interviews with former players, etc). It seems like many of the other instances of wrongdoing left out of the NoA can be proved, but that they've still been left out of the scope of the NCAA's "charges" to this point. Why? Can we expect more before the August hearing (I think that's the date)?

honestly, how could they not update it? That would just be ridiculous. How does no one have any scoop on this?
I still wonder if perhaps the failure to produce a new LOI is an attempt to give OSU a chance to self-report whatever dirt should've been uncovered (since they're supposed to be digging into their program). The assumption there is that were OSU to self-report all this car business, etc. the penalty could be lighter than if they don't (and I think we all know they won't). I'm wondering if when they show up for their hearing the NCAA will produce a list of additional findings and delay the hearing to give OSU time to address them.
Is this even remotely plausible?
I know nothing but I tend to doubt it. I thought Ohio concluded their investigation which would ruin your point.
THE Ohio State University never reports any major violations that aren't already "out there." Why should they? They got rewarded for obstructing the Clarett investigation. That's' why they are so smug now. They expect to be rewarded for stonewalling this one, too.
The NCAA moves at its own pace and is highly unresponsive to outside agencies. The current NOA has essentially become Tressel against the NCAA and because he no longer works for OSU they may be content to just do something else later.
It all boils down to whether or not OSU can convince the NCAA that Tressel was totally rogue or not.
I really have a bad feeling that they'll be able to convince the NCAA of that and their vacated wins will be seen as sufficient. I just have a hunch that's the way things are gonna go down.
If the media's smart, they'll look for records of all those car repairs that supposedly required TP to drive all those loaner cars.
How else is the insight gained though?

“That’s well said. We don’t do any of these things without communicating with the NCAA. So, we had conversations prior to last Friday and were told it was appropriate to do what we did. Based on internet rumors (as reliable as anything else), as of last week the only remaining issue the NCAA is looking into is the Talbott stuff.
There's going to be an explosion of anger around here. For some reason people seem to be taking these admitted and alleged violations personally.
To me it's irrelevant if they get hit with it officially or not so long as the NCAA smells a rat and throws the book at them for the NoA they've already been served.
I'd be happy with 20 scholarship losses (10 in 2012, 10 in 2013) and a one year postseason ban (2012, not 2011) so their coaching search will be hampered.
Another reason I'd like to see the postseason ban in 2012 is that the penalties from this upcoming hearing won't be announced until October or November. I don't think you should tell a team in the middle of their season that it is almost over. Give them a heads up and let them chew on it for a long time.
Isn't there someone on this board that could actually answer this factually? I recall reading a post a short time ago from someone who may be very close to the epicenter.

What is the point of going in and investigating the program, if you aren't going to use any of the stuff you turn up?
The NCAA must want to let OSU off easy.

this would actually make sense in my mind why OSU wouldnt sanction itself heavly. Think about it, they hit themselves hard, and then a New NOA comes out, and then they have to hit themselves hard again. I think there play is to wait and see when its all over and then respond with what they think is appropriate and try and not get a post season ban at all costs.
