On right now on TruTV. Let's see who we're playing in the first round

I mean there’s always a chance but we’re definitely more talented. Much more talented. If anything the Livers injury should make it less likely we overlook the winner. MSM has a decent shooting percentage so far and is doing ok from three on low volume. Still early though.

TruTV and I have this fling once a year where I show it interest for about a week and then I back off and completely ignore it for the rest of the year.

The three forward lineup for MSM is bothering TX Southern. I don’t see any issue against either one but Michigan would kill TX Southern on the inside all game long.

lol -- rest easy, UM fans -- an all-star group from these two team would be road kill against us.

MSM not hitting threes now and also turning the ball over against pressure. If Texas Southern pulls this out I expect to see pressure but hopefully we smoke that

Texas Southern shoots the least amount of 3's of any team in the 68 man field. Historically teams who make upset runs are 3 point bangers not teams playing Manball vs teams 200 ranks ahead of them.

if Texas Southern Wins i'd predict Michigan 85 Texas Southern 52

Well, I think MSM is a more organized, better run team but Tx. So. is more athletic IMO and would prepare us better against a team like LSU.

In other words,  I'm conflicted about who I care to go against but neither team is worrisome.

It seems kind of harsh to ask two 16 seeds to play each other for the right to make the first round.  These are teams that automatically qualified by winning their conference tournament, yet they’re asked to take an extra step that most of the at-large teams aren’t.  I would only make at-large teams play in these First Four games.

I wish Juwan would tell his players to come out absolutely terrorizing Texas Southern. I hate the Michigan tradition in early games of ... "playing our game," and "waiting for the game to come to them," which -- though obviously successful -- always seems to mean letting the other team hang around longer than I wish they would. It's not good for my heart.

Instead, I think he should motivate the players not by trying to convince them that the other team is good enough to beat them -- the players aren't stupid -- but by overcoming the early over-confidence and torpor by *attacking* the other team. Not for the whole game. Just for the first 2-3 minutes, be unusually aggressive, even if it means occasional back door buckets and fouls.

This is a team we should be up 18-4 on ... but if past is prologue, it'll mean being down 14-17 before we start to turn it on.

Yeah, I know, but ... Duke never seems to struggle as much in early rounds as we do. (I'm sure it's my Michigan bias talking, and people can find a lot of first round nail-biters for the Dukies, but ... I'm never aware of them). Again, I'm not saying we lose our first round games, but just once I'd like to be dominant from the get-go against the Little Sisters of the Poor. Instead of ... what we did against Oakland.

2011 beat TN by 30. 2012 lost to Ohio in first round. 2013 beat S Dakota St by 15. 2014 beat Wofford by 17. 2015 weren’t in it. 2016 lost to ND as a 11 seed by seven. 2017 beat OK State by 1. 2018 beat Montana by 14. 2019 beat Montana by 19.

I can see where you are coming from. Our best result was in 2011 when we were a 8 seed in the 8/9 matchup with TN. When we are the higher seed we tend to struggle more. I think a lot of our best performances were when we were picked to get beat by someone. Hopefully that carries into this year as well.

That, my friends, was some ugly basketball.  But at least (like a few others have pointed out) TSU is at least athletic enough that we will get tested a bit here and there all game long rather than face a team that's milking the clock.
