Tell me about the Big Ten
what are your opinions on the fanbases of the other 13 B1G schools?
mine-
Illinois: strange fixation thinking they are a rival of Michigan's
Indiana: arrogant basketball fans who think they're god's gift to basketball when they haven't been to a Final Four in over a decade.
Iowa: Humble corn lovers
Maryland: Kind of have that lost puppy vibe. They don't have a rival and don't really care about football as shown by 6 years without a sellout crowd that ended this year when OSU fans took over their stadium.
MSU: what do Michigan, MSU and OSU fans all have in common? They're all obsessed with Michigan. Nuff said.
Minny: They're humble midwesterners.........unless you're talking about hockey fans then WOW are they irritating.
Nebraska: probably the nicest fans in the conference and they're the best fitting addition to the league.
NU: other than students who are fans of NU, who grows up an NU fan?
OSU: what do Michigan, MSU and OSU fans all have in common. They're all obsessed with Michigan. Nuff said.
PSU: Delusional drunkards
Purdue: at least you didn't finish in the B1G cellar this year! Wooo!
Rutgers: Too busy fist pumping to be good at sports
Wisconsin: I remember them being drunkards but that's about it since Michigan hasn't played them in football since 1903.
edit: DISCUSS
ND chooses to be a joke. They're in the midwest playing in an East coast conference with no rivals AT ALL.
But then again, they can't even beat Northwestern in football so maybe that's why they're shying away from their neighbors.
Both of the teams that were added beat Michigan in their first year so maybe you should shut up about that.
1. LOL Nebraska as McBain
2. Who cares? That was under a no longer employed coaching staff. Michigan won their biggest game since 2003 last year: hiring Harbaugh.

I'm not sure that you understand what the word literally means.

I was clamoring for Cuse & Pitt to be added to the Big Ten during the first rumors of recent expansion . . .
The promised "warming "to Rutgers & Maryland has so far not materialized for me.
Both of those "weird teams" beat Michigan last year.

They're still weird and a bad fit for the B1G.
This would be my perfection.
Expand to 20 teams in two 10 team divisions. Add Pitt, Syracuse, BC, West Virginia, Virginia & Miami, all in the East.
Move Michigan to the West. Then once again M can be "The Champions of The West." :)
Illinois: Champaign is basically surrounded by farms. Not that hard to see why they don't recruit elite
Indiana: Heard it's a pretty nice campus. Basketball is their main focus. Very die hard as they haven't had much success in the last 20 years.
Iowa: Team that always seems like they could be a little better than they are, but oh well. Easiest team to root for besides Michigan in the B1G. Sweet color combo/logo and Iowa City seems awesome.
Maryland: Heard it's a commuter school. They don't really have a rival and idk...they just don't fit well.
MSU: Generally they're alright. Nothing special or bad in terms of the kind of fan they are...unless Michigan comes into play. Then all bets are off.
Minnesota: They seem kind of like the Michigan football of hockey. Many teams have had more recent success but that doesn't stop them.
Nebraska: They're loyal that's for sure. Have to hand it to them for that.
Northwestern: They're smart as hell
OSU: Fuck em. It seems like the entire state of Ohio is bred to hate Michigan. We'll always be above you, fuckers.
Penn St: Really rub me the wrong way after the Sandusky thing. The entire situation is just creepy. And they still don't get it.
Purdue: Probably brings the least to the Big Ten of anyone
Rutgers: At least we can recruit New Jersey easier
Wisconsin: They have my respect because at one point their football and basketball teams pretty much sucked. Now they're always in the conversation in both and that's hard to do.
Lived blocks from the campus for a year and my wife graduated from there. Definitely NOT a commuter school unless you mean most people live off campus. Because a lot do, but most live within walking distance.
Have a Werther's Original and I'll tell you all about it. Back in my day, there were actually ten teams in the Big Ten. Crazy isn't it?
Shrute does it again.

Illinois: Think that Michigan is there rival but they haven’t beat the football team in how long?
Indiana: Basketball fans are pricks.
Iowa: If they ever get a football coach that isn’t boring then they might be elite football team
Maryland: good fans but what in the hell is wrong with them when they lose to Duke a few years ago.
MSU: Obsessed with Michigan and they are little assholes and worse when beer and sofa’s involved.
Minny: They are great people, until Hockey is involved they are the worse.Nebraska: They are alright, but damn they need to lower there expectations of the football team.
NU: I got nothing for them, but who was a NU fan I mean really.
OSU: Where do I need to begin with them, They are asshole, dickheads and they are obbessed with Michigan.
PSU: They are delusional at best
Purdue: Well they have a .500 record last year at least
Rutgers: Well they do have meatheads in NJ
Wisconsin: They supply us with the beer and cheese in the world nothing bad about themme see
Michigan fans who act like Ohio State fans are the only ones who take the rivalry seriously make me laugh. Come on. Get over yourselves.
This thread is so dumb.

somehow got Mizzu before the sec did, and didn't add Rutgers. They would have been a great addition and they would be pretty close to Illinois, Nebraska and Iowa. Also, you could split the divisions up in east and west better, for example:
West-Mizzu,Iowa,Wiscy,Indiana,Nebraska,Purdue,Minny.
East-Illinois,OSU,MSU,PSU,Michigan,Maryland,NW
The Texas and Mizzou rumors were so much better; and I was so hopeful. Meh to RU and Maryland -- what do they actually give the conference? I don't want to hear television revenue either.
I guess thats a decent excuse...

Maryland and Rutgers: haven't interacted with them much due to their new presence as B1G members, but I have spent time in college park and Maryland fans seem generally harmless, if rather uninspired when it comes to football.
Wisconsin: rowdy, loud, occasionally rude but mainly just passionate. Met a ton of UW fans in Indy for the championship game and none of them seemed combative, given the stakes of the game.
PSU: the worst fan base I've ever encountered. They're rude and combative both home and away, violent on their own turf, and generally deluded about their place in the conference hierarchy and about the Paterno/Sandusky situation.
MSU: I think the little brother complex applies to us in some ways too. MSU just wants to be considered a top team in the league, and their attitude reflects that. Most of the fans that I've met haven't been hostile or anything.
Michigan: arrogant, but generally, the UM fans I've met have been great. I tend to be more sensitive to visiting Michigan fans because of the crap they take from locals, and most that I've met have been nothing but grateful when I've had the chance to interact on our campus and theirs.
OSU: I will admit the central Ohioans that come into the city are terrible. Drunk, loud, combative and rude to the point where the student are often found clashing with the older fans. However, I've found that much of the student body and alumni are about the same as any other fanbase, albeit part of a more passionate following than most schools.
Nebraska: the only ones I've met have been old and nice.
I won't mention Illinois, Indiana, northwestern, and uhh are there others? Because none of them seem to care all that much

We're not arrogant, we're just better.
Indiana: Toothless pricks living in the glory days of basketball
Illinois: Great academics obsessed with Michigan for some reason, when their rivals are NU, Mizzou, and Purdue.
NU: Excellent academics in the center of Michigan's largest alumni association gathering
MSU: Little brother with an inferiority complex
Ohio: Fuck Ohio
Minny: Nice fans, in all sports except Hockey. The hockey fans are pricks.
Wisconsin: Drunk, need I say more
Penn State: 50/50 mix between really nice fans and a bunch of delusional assholes.
Rutgers: Sopranos?
Maryland: Frat bro's
Purdue: boring, nice people, great academics for STEM.
Iowa: held back from a poor man's Lloyd Carr.

Ha!!! We had the same comment at the same time about PSU yet probably separated by 1000s of miles and having never met one another.
PSU: Cult-of-personality, pedophile-enabling, delusional, assholes.

the percentages may vary ..... but they only vary slightly. I've enjoyed every B1G city I've visited, and I've seen them all outside of Iowa City and College Park, MD. Similarly for the non-B1G cities (been to about 10-12 of them).
I'll get preachy ...... I'm not a big fan of stereo-casting people, which, to be blunt, is occurring a bit in this thread. In the long run, we're all just people. Our alma mater/school does not define us.

They have beaten Michigan 4 out of the past 5 times they've played, and have only missed a bowl appearance once during that time, which also includes as many BCS bowl game wins as Michigan has during that same period. I don't understand why they're not taken seriously here.
