Taybor Pepper to MSU (walk on for us)
Per @AllenTrieu now former Michigan walk-on long snapper Taybor Pepper has accepted a full scholarship to Michigan State.
Now im not going to be able to sleep tonight.
Maybe I imagined it. At any rate, happy for his parents. I hear tuition is a lot of money these days.
Tokarsky's a stud long snapper and looks to be a stud in the classroom as well. 32 ACT. that's damned impressive.
Also they have Bo Dever walking on for 2013 i believe (may be 12)

Where have you seen this? Everything I've read has him as a WR.
April 15th, 2012 at 12:50 AM ^
He's a walk-on WR for 2012.
i can't say im that salty about this.
Guh, another head to head recruiting loss to MSU. When will it end? And don't give me any of that "It's because MSU is desperate enough to spend a scholarship on a long snapper" bullshit, we all know it's because Dantonio is a master recruiter.
Fire Hoke!
I think Dantonio has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ann Arbor are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Taking Michigan’s longsnappers is a good start.
So Dantonio's recruiting wins against Hoke were Aaron Burbridge (a likely non-qualifier) and a walk-on long snapper.

And Se'Von Pittman!
...Too soon?

They are already selling State Taybor Pepper jerseys in Ann Arbor!!!!!!
I hear that he's an MSU commit for now, but if Meyer wants him at OSU he'd totally flip.

replying so I can remember to mention this in DD. Wolvy-Plus!
Good to see a guy who wouldn’t have really contributed here get a scholarship.
Damn Dantonio..Guy may not have any class but he sure can recruit nationally

Everybody wins here. Pepper gets a scholly. Dantonio gets someone who will stay out of jail. Most of all, we get to remind Sparty that they are giving schollies to Michigan's walk-ons on October 21 when they wake up with hangovers, burned couches, and the realization that they haven't really caught up with Michigan, after all.
Congrats...I wish the kid the best.
woopity doo. way to pull the class captain grump.
Good for Taybor. Bad for MSU, who is spending a scholarship on a guy no one else would. Spending a scholarship on a long snapper period isn't a great move.
But it's not like MSU was using those scholarships on anyone good anyway, hehe.
Hey if you cant beat us for scholarship players, then steal our walkons with a scholarship.
What about the "Gentlemen's Agreement" Dantonio?????
Dantonio the Master Trickster is working him into a fake-field-goal-tip-it-to-the-long-snapper-for-a-first-down play, trying to rip that page out of Hoke's Sugar Bowl playbook.
The play will be called "The Sandlot," and it will be run to beat Nebraska.
In all seriousness, best of luck and congratulations, even if it is with Sparty!
Glad for Taybor. Get's a Big 10 full ride. If Michigan would have offered he'd still be Blue, but Sparty is a decent fall back.
Not so sure... he was raised and Illinois fan, and when asked in an interview about Michigan, he said "I was bred not to like them."
Whatever. Good luck to him.

if not, then why would he have chosen to walk on here rather than at state. its obvious that the only thing that changed his circumstances was the sparty offer. had he preferred state over michigan, they wouldnt have needed to offer him a scholarship.

He chose Michigan for the education. He chose Sparty for the free ride.
Snake Oil Salesman!
Nice that the kid is getting free schooling for 4 years in the B1G.
I am sure this is warranting a reaction from the Sparty "Zero Star Mafia"
No need to panic, I hear Demar Dorsey will transfer in to be arefuture long snapper.

Dorsey joke I get, but 'are'?
April 15th, 2012 at 11:56 AM ^
Spartan grammar, don't sweat it.
Cant say I blame the kid. He just saved a boat load of money on college.

At MSU, fifteen minutes could save you 100% or more on tuition.
Why now? Did their LS just get hurt?
Their long snapper is the one of the guys who didn't travel to their bowl game because of off the field issues... leading to several botched long snaps in the Outback(?) bowl.
Even if it is at the hands of Michigan State, he is going to get something he wouldn't get here - a paid education - and especially nowadays, sports scholarship at stake or not, many kids would be hard-pressed NOT to take such an offer, especially if, in his case, it's not typically a scholarship position nor one that gets much attention generally.
Good luck to you, Taybor.

We all love Michigan and what it can offer, but a paid education elsewhere is a big deal, in-state rival or not. This is a great opportunity for him; even if MSU can provide some truly LOL moments.
Accepting a scholarship is a world apart from sitting here on the computer. The girlfriend camped at Ohio for softball and wanted an offer (before she went, by the way) but she cheered as hard as anyone here when Denard took a knee against them. He's doing what's best for him and I'm glad a long snapper got a scholarship, though I hope he loses a lot of games.
i was over on rcmb for fun and they are actually excited about this kid. Someone actually thinks hes a 5 star ?????
They have also declared this move a "flip" for Dantonio.
o.k.
