Tarik Black was at the game
Along with Devin Gardner, Cesar Ruiz, Kwity Paye, and Jaylen Mayfield, there was another interesting old member of the team at today's game...Tarik Black. Not something I would have expected considering that he transferred to Texas ostensibly due to lack of playing time. I was under the impression that there may have been some bad blood there. Looks like he parted ways on good terms. Glad to know that and also glad to know that he left Michigan with his degree (something I did not know previously). Best wishes to Tarik as he begins his NFL career with the Colts.

Is he on their practice squad? I thought he didn't make the 53-man roster.
Guess we won't be seeing DPJ making any return visits anytime soon.

Good question. From the article on the Texas blog it sounded as if he was on the verge of a breakthrough with a good chance to make the roster, but I don't know.

Colts fan here. The staff clearly thinks highly of him but he was behind 2 drafted guys who were huge camp and preseason breakouts (Strachan and Patmon) and a special teams ace (Dulin).

Wikipedia says waived August 31st and signed to practice squad.

Yeah, he made the practice squad. With all the COVID issues Indy is having and a decent preseason, I think he may get called up a couple of times, especially with Hilton being hurt.

Don’t be so sure. DPJ put out a tweet during the game yesterday mocking the WMU running back who scored for impersonating his Paul Bunyan pose.
That RB is a former Spartan.

Is there bad blood between DPJ and the program?

So Ronnie bell has a torn acl. Which WR steps up in place of him? Feels so bad for him, he was setting up to have a monster season.

Do you have a source other than James Yoder?
September 5th, 2021 at 4:37 AM ^
I don't think anyone would be making a crazy guess saying this. Either ACL or MCL or both. I was hoping high ankle sprain, but it looked a lot worse than that.

Yoder would, he’s done it before.

Dotman.
He’s a probably guessing as well, but …

Dotman’s not always correct in his insider stuff, but he doesn’t just “guess.” If he says something, he heard something.

Surprised people aren't talking about Daylen Baldwin more.

I think this is a great sign. Glad he came back for a game with his former teammates. Says a lot about the culture.

Great point. This holds true with Mayfield as well.
September 5th, 2021 at 7:56 AM ^
FALSE. don’t you know the culture is broken?
September 5th, 2021 at 9:13 AM ^
Culture comments had some of the most uniformed posters spouting about a locker room they knew nothing about and a few players transferring using as an excuse. They wanted PT. Should have said something that Ronnie Bell had more catches than DJP and Black the year before. According to fans, it couldn’t possibly be that Black struggled developing with all the injuries and DJP great Uber athlete but wasn’t a good route runner here…. . I digress….
September 5th, 2021 at 11:22 AM ^
You are probably mostly correct. but why DPJ was not able to progress as a route runner was more the concern I remember from this blog. Lack of an appropriate position coach was one reason usually given. That is still part of a program’s culture.

QBs we’ve had in the past made some great throws when guys were being covered closely. Great throws, great catches but when WRs were left open either the ball wasn’t thrown there way or it’s was thrown 10 yards off target

Yes. I think picture from the Redskins preseason game showed how even those who transfer from Michigan still live Michigan. St. Juste and Asiasi were both part of the Michigan alum picture, even though both transferred out

It was a pleasant surprise to see him

Good to hear and good luck and good health to Tarik.

Glad to see there's seemingly not too much tension there. Always better to have as many former players--transfers or not--in the fold as possible
