Me too - but all that really matters is beating Illinois. Also Minnesota is probably going to lose at Nebraska - our one loss is not good. Who knew Eli meant so much to this team?!

Watching it now. I still hate that the national pundits seem to be stuck in this "Gonzaga / Baylor / everyone else" mode when we are easily in any game with either of these teams, in my view. Some may see that as overly optimistic, but I don't see much that would be out of the realm of possibility for Michigan right now.

Both of those teams are great, but I am not sure if they are as great as Michigan. I will enjoy Gonzaga staying undefeated until the national championship game - because it will keep our guys hungry and ready to show who is the cream or the crop.

When I was a young lad, I adopted Gonzaga as a second team. Always loved their scrappy underdog mentality, and now they are one of the big boys.
In my terrible opinion, the reason they typically struggle in the NCAAs, regardless of how tough their non-conference schedule may be, they go damn near 2-3 months playing basically NO ONE. And then when they get to the NCAAs, they are shell shocked playing a team not named Loyola Marymount or Pacific.

They should try scheduling in the middle of the conference season.. ND? BYU ? Anyone who would take them. And just play the road.. Losses won't hurt them beyond dropping to a 2 or 3.. Would benefit in the long run

made this point yesterday, but gonzaga has some very weak half-time scores vs. that uber-weak WCC conference. up by 3-4 points on teams that would be 0-for the season in the B10.

They have had some good tourney runs. Usually S16 at minimum. Lost to FSU year we got to F4 and lost to nova in championship game. They got in title game like 4 years ago.

Mark Few is a great coach no doubt, but his history is absolutely littered with early exits. He's made it the furthest in his career the last few years, but before that, they would always bounce early.
He has had some ridiculously talented teams that had no business losing as early as they did.

The tournament is so random, it's easy to have a bad night, so no predictions about the future here, but imo Michigan should be the #1 team in the country right now, based on actually playing other good teams and beating them convincingly, and it's not close.

Agree, LSA. Since everything is in Indy, regionals don’t matter (ie being sent out west). But, I definitely agree with CR that Michigan should be the #1 overall seed if they win out.
Debating over which #1 seed we should be is *such* an awesome “problem.”

This is typical in most sports. These analysts and media types get hung up on certain teams and never back off of them. We started outside the top 25 and took a long time to even get credibility and now nobody wants to put us on the same platform with them
Just like at halftime of this game the guy asked why Michigan isn’t the best team in the country if they are the best team in the best conference and douche one says uh because I don’t think they are the best team in the country and douche two says it’s Gonzaga first, Baylor is trying to find itself after the layoff and then Michigan is in the conversation.

I always laugh at pundits... They literally don't watch any games. They have no idea besides bullet points.
They fill time. The guys calling games have a chance because they are watching the game they are calling at a minimum and condensed versions of previous games.

i think you can see an extremely athletic team that is undefeated. thus, without our respective maize-n-blue glasses on, it's not that hard to see them as a #2 team. time will tell.

They're struggling mightily against Kansas' length on both ends and don't run a great offense. I'd feel pretty good playing them

Neither of these teams have any on ball defense. Pretty much drive at will to the basket in this one.
Baylor doesn’t concern me at all. I think we would have a tougher game with Gonzaga because they have a lot of the same type of pieces we have.

Eh...there is quiiiite the history with Self and Kansas over the past 15 years. I've read some pretty nasty stuff* regarding the likes star players from the late 2000s that very much got swept under the rug. I think I read if from here way back when but would have no clue how to dig up some of these stories.
*of course, alleged, as nothing has ever come to national "light" as far as police charges etc. but the evidence was damning
