Stauskas named PR Tip-Off MVP
One positive of this is Nik Stauskas. He was named the most outstanding player of the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off and was one point shy of setting the tournament record.
What a difference a year makes. He really did make good on his promise. Hopefully some of the freshmen follow his lead.

5 games in a row with 20+ points. I thought he was going to reach 30 this game at one point. The injury really slowed him down he became more or less a non factor. Seems like the injury wont be a big deal so thats good.

I'm not a big fan of college basketball but its awesome when someone works really hard and sees it pay off like it has for Stauskas. Can't feel too bad about the team when McGary is just getting back into things and we have freshman all over the place.

Hes the only player playing well...Glen Rob III has been a big dissapointment so far, Levert keeps turning the ball over and throwing up bricks and Irvin is struggling...Jordan Morgan is good for 2 or 3 points a game when hes not missing bunnies or letting the ball slip through his hands...I know its early BUT in the 3 games againist quality teams theyve lost 2 and barely survived the 3rd...looks like a big step backwards from last year..

McGary looks great after missing most practice with a back problem. Stauskis has become incredible. Our Freshman point guard and shooting guard look respectable for their first early season. The sky is not falling.

After losing Burke, how could you not expect a step back when you've got a freshman taking point? The losses this year are tough, but I don't see them as terrible at this point because every setback early on is an opportunity for these guys to develop. If we're losing games like this in Feb-Mar, then be concerned.

Glad I had Doctor Who 50th Anniversary to distract me this weekend. That makes up for sad sports.

Now heal that ankle good.

It's a long season; just stay healthy!!
I'm proud of the team. I think they always manage to stay in the game even when the shots are not falling. Hopefully these early losses will pay dividends when it counts during the tournament.

Every time I see Nik slash to the rim or just display his sustained aggressiveness I can't help but wonder: Just imagine if we still had Trey to maximize Nik's performance. Timing is everything. If 2013/2014 Nik was available last year....we are defending National Champions. Now, Dakich is right......"Why can't GRIII display the same passion and confidence and attack the defense"? We still have a long season....here is hoping the GRIII turns it on.

Hopefully he's healthy.

Yeah was gonna say, if Nick's MVP, then GR3's LVP... Hope he heals up and starts playing far more aggressively. He should be a far better rebounder than he's shown (I might be full of poop as I wasn't able to watch the last two games).

Congrats Nik! He deserved it. Kid plays hard every time he's on the court. Thankfully his ankle doesn't seem to be too serious.
