Stanford fires S&C coach Turley
He's been on admin leave for two months. Rumors say this involves a former player. Super weird, but I guess it's a good thing Harbaugh didn't end up poaching him a few years ago.

I'm mad that Stanford and Samford never got into a rivalry. Just like I'm mad that MSU doesn't play Nicholls State every year. I live for that Mich. St. vs Nich. St. boxscore

I hope Stanford finally mans up and schedules Stansbury, Harvard of the West, soon!

Pittsburgh and Bradley really need to rekindle their rivalry.

Guy is one of he best S&C coaches in the country. I wonder what he did.
April 16th, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
No worries though if you're a Stanford fan because the new guy will most definitely....
1. Employ new cutting edge techniques in both lifting and nutrition
2. Have players saying "we've never been this strong before. Man what a difference this new S & C coach is making in our development"
3. Have the HC claim "the 4th quarter is now ours baby. While others tire out we will still be going strong thanks to the new, amazing S & C coach we have hired"
4. Have everyone projecting much lower injury rates in whatever random part of the body Stanford suffered the most injuries in last year. "Surely this amazing new technique our amazing new S & C coach is teaching us will have us cut way down on injuries to that random body part"
And if Stanford has a shitty season that dude will get fired along with the rest of the coaching staff. But the good new is that if that does happen the newer, new S & C coach will absolutely.....
1. Employ new cutting edge techniques in both lifting and nutrition.
2. Have players saying......
RINSE AND REPEAT FOR INFINITY

This is so true. It is like how every new DC of all time has promised to:
1. Be more aggressive
2. Be more tough
April 16th, 2019 at 10:33 AM ^
We had a head coach who, well ya know, made these same claims coming in.
April 16th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
Even better: He could hear all those things.
April 16th, 2019 at 10:37 AM ^
"He's introduced a level of toughness that is different from the last few years. I've noticed that our workouts are carrying over to the practice field. I'm sure folks will really see the intensity this fall."

3. Simplify
4. But we're still multiple
April 16th, 2019 at 10:35 AM ^
I hear they're hiring Elizabeth Holmes. She has a new S&C program that fits in a box the size of a home printer/scanner.

Honest to god, mGrowOld, this is one of my favorite posts in MGoHistory.

The new DC is always going to blitz more and win with aggressiveness. Our defense will shed blocks and attack the ball carrier.
Never said, I'm going in to implement a bend but don't break defense. We will give up a few points, but our offense will score more.

This is funny because it's true. Sports fans are some of the dumbest people on earth. To most their teams can do no wrong and anyone who is critical is labeled a troll. I love sitting back and laughing at all these lemmings defending things they have no personal stake in.
April 16th, 2019 at 12:24 PM ^
Maizen?
Maizen.
April 16th, 2019 at 12:29 PM ^
From your post history (24 hours!) it looks like you don't do a lot of sitting back at all.
I guess my only question is whether or not the "M" in "Mfrank" is silent, or if it denotes a different pronunciation of the "f", sort of like how an umlaut shifts the pronunciation of vowels. Just curious.
First of all, you're just another piece of shit troll with numerous accounts so you can make stupid arguments and agree with yourself, then upvote yourself. Got busted last night switching between 1201 and this account.
Secondly, stating that "I love sitting back and laughing at all these lemmings defending things they have no personal stake in" is a flat out lie since you concern trolled for about 3 hours yesterday and defended your shit opinions on the team and recruiting (something you have no stake in).
You might be maizen, you might not be ..... but either way you're a NOT a Michigan fan and you ARE a fucking loser
Try employment, loser! How many accounts/email addresses can one possibly make up to be mad online?
Or constantly bitching about things they have no personal stake in.
Mike Barwis says hi!
Hah, I knew you would post these cliches. You have polishing this one for a few years now and I appreciate that it gets better and better. Uses techniques used by NASA. Techniques that Vegas cannot emulate.
Remember when we brought on Barwis? He was supposed to be this cutting edge S&C savant.
Then our offensive and defensive lines would get owned every week by any team with a pulse.

He was probably pressing more than bench.
April 16th, 2019 at 12:46 PM ^
That was my guess too. Not exactly a hanging offense. Harbaugh should give him a call.
April 16th, 2019 at 10:20 AM ^
Not sure if its an undoubted good thing -- maybe what happened could and would only have happened there and not here -- you never know. What you do know is that this guy is one of the top strength and conditioning coaches in the country.

Alabama fans chanting: S&C! S&C! S&C! S&C!
Coincidentally, the Stanford sailing coach was just fired for participating in the whole college admissions thing that Aunt Becky and others are getting charged for.
And I have but one upvote to give...

Saban has probably already been in contact. He'll stash him in his rehab program.
Stanford seem to be in the right state of mind after such heartbreaking news...
I remember this guy. Harbaugh tried to get him to come to AA with him but I believe his wife loved it out there so he stayed. The New York Times did a piece on him on how renowned he was keeping players healthy. He had to have really messed up to lose that gig.
