Spring Game: Scrimmage or "Game"
I was wondering if anyone knows if this years Spring Game on April 17th at the Big House will be an actual GAME. Not like last year's scrimmage where it was offense vs defense. I'm talking about like a true blue vs white game. Devin Gardner quarterbacking one side and Tate Forcier quarterbacking the other for example
It won't be one. Too many injuries.
^^^^ this
It seemed like that was how the game went in Rich's first year. I'm really hoping it's that way. I can't imagine there are any more injuries than normal...all they would have to do is substitute more.
I read in the daily or somewhere (maybe here in the press conference notes?) that a true game is coach's goal, but there aren't enough guys in, and there's too many injuries. I've really never totally understood that concept, but, he obviously knows just a little bit more about stuff like that than me. Is that really how it went his first year? Also, I know that Lloyd didn't have games open to the public (right? I guess I'm not sure...) but did they ever have actual games like what Rodriguez wants eventually? Just curious how it looked when there were enough guys in...Thanks!
I have never been to an actual spring GAME. But I remember reading back in the Wolverine Magazine 2007 Football Preview about the 2007 Spring Game with Ryan Mallet playing and how the weather freezing and only about 4,000 fans made it to the Big House
I remember going to Spring games as a kid, they were awesome. Would love to get our numbers back to where we can do it again.
*sigh* 3 years in a row now
Does your title mean you have a question or that you are soliciting questions about the spring game that you can then answer?
Just trying to find out if the Spring Game was an actual game this year.
I think once you hit 50 points your sarcasm meter starts working.

Forcier vs. Gardner.
that'd pretty much be a "offense vs. defense" scrimmage while 1/2 the team sits on the sideline
are there seriously people that think Gardner is "that good" he could trot on the field and be half of the quarterback battle in Spring practice?!
What I meant was
Blue-1st team offense and defense- Forcier QB
vs
White-2nd team offense and defense- Gardner or Robinson at QB
what i meant was i don't understand how anyone would think Gardner would be above Robinson at this point. hell, some talk out of spring practice was Robinson had a firmer understanding of some of the playbook.
I guess I'm just excited to see DG play. And all of the incoming freshman. Austin White went to my high schools rival Stevenson so it should be interesting.
I think it would be cooler to have the 1st team offense play the 1st team defense and the 2nd team offense play the 2nd team defense. It would be easier to gauge the skill level of the play that way.
They just happen to be daring to dream while on shrooms.
good point. +1 to you.
How is the game going to go exactly?
Or I should say, scrimmage.
How did it go last year ?
Michigan won.
Idiots called for Rich Rod to be fired.
Last years format was fine.
Yeah I wish they would do an actual game, but they probably don't want to risk injury. But what the hell, there's a shit ton of injuries anyway...
It's Michigan football. In April.
Line up, snap the football, do some stuff. The rest is gravy.
I bet this year's spring game will be very similar to last years.
