Speight is our QB

Submitted by umbig11 on
Speight has been given the keys to the car. As many of you already know, I have been a staunch supporter of JO'K and have a personal bias for reasons that I won't go into here. Anyway, I have it in writing from a respected writer in the business. I will release that next Saturday and give him full credit. Bottom line, Wilton has earned it and he will be our QB. I have a ton of respect for the way he has earned the right to lead this team! Go blue!

While Speight did seem pretty confident yesterday, I can't remember an interview this camp when he wasn't confident. I think it's just his personality. And based on what they said yesterday I don't think they know yet.

“I don’t know if any of us saw it going this far,” O’Korn said Friday. “I think it will continue. Whenever that decision comes it’s not really up to us. I don’t know if any of us knows when it’s coming.”

“They haven’t said anything. You think back to last year, they didn’t tell us anything until Jake ran onto the field, and we knew. Guys kind of get a sense based on practice and stuff like that.” - Speight

What happened is that an anonymous poster who goes by umbig11, who Brian says is "legit", got a note from an anonymous "well respected writer in the business", who says Speight has been "given the keys to the car", and now is UM's starting qb. umbig11 is sending Brian the note. Writer's identity cannot be revealed today, but can be revealed next Saturday when he will get "all the credit". Meanwhile, neither Harbaugh nor the team has made any announcement wanting to keep it undisclosed, but evidently being OK with it being leaked in this fashion. No word on whether Harbaugh releases fall camp stress by playing Counterstrike online.

O'Korn got a ton of hype running the scout team and followed that up winning the Manning Camp Award as the best QB against 38 college QBs. We have a good QB situation.

I will trust the proven process Jim MF Harbaugh and staff use to determine and develop qbs...over a few people who think O'Korn is better because he is a better runner. If Speight is named the guy..its because he has proven himself to the trained eyes of our world class coaching staff, and they are confident he is the best option to help our team win. Good enough for me.

In regards to the game manager comments...that is exactly what you want in this offense when you have all of the weapons that UM has with a staff that is going to out scheme its opponents. Don't turn it over, don't miss reads, follow the script and.get the ball to the skills guys or, if all else fails, run to pick up a couple of yards and get to the next down.

Havent gone through all the comments BUT has any thought about a two QB game plan? At least the first couple of games? This way JH will see who reacts better during an actual game vs camp.

probably picked Wilton during the past week. This next week will be used to focus on the game plan against Hawaii. I think O'korn will be a great backup who may play more if Wilton begins to wilt during games. Shane will be that emergency starter who may have improved enough to run Harbaugh's offense.

Not much mobility at all, as he's statuesque, but he doesn't have to be.

He's got some great receivers, TEs and great RB options.

QB was a question, but not a concern for me I guess.

Whoever can pass the Jim Harbaugh litmus test, well dammit, who do you think you are to question it given his track record?

I'm sure I'm in the minority but there is something about this thread that really bugs me. Whatever their reasons, the staff has gone to great lengths to NOT have this information out there and having it posted like this is a big breach of that trust/effort. This is just not a good idea and I wish Brian would take it down.

Want to make this comment dedicated to being the 700th! Of course 700/100 is 7.... We all know what that means. Illuminati and aliens.

I'm OK with Speight starting but a bit suprised because O'Korn seemed a bit more athletic than Speight.   If he beat O'Korn out, fine.  O'Korn would make a capable backup.

Also posting because everyone else is.
