Sparty loses 4th commit since Tucker fired
This time a 4 star OL Andrew Dennis from Mount Pleasant. It doesn’t appear that he ever held a Michigan offer.
Hate to see it. Looking forward to beating the snot out of them Saturday night.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
But more than that, you love to see it.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:37 PM ^
Man I commented before seeing you already posted (minus the gif).
My bad.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
Yeah, after Saturday I just felt so sick and frickin' tired of them and their rape-happy dismal turd of a program, I almost felt we shouldn't play them. Or just kill them for a quarter and then sit on the sidelines, let them march up and down the field unmolested for two quarters and go in and kill them again. Win by a hundred and fiddies, or whatever kids say.
But now my hate cup is starting to fill up again and I hope we go in and squash them like little bugs. And you know what's truly sick? Mel Tugger is probably the least reprehensible of their last four or five coaches, football and stinking hoops. Just--at least--in terms of real crimes covered for and lied about. On a scale from hapless schlemiel to real scoundrel, don't you think I'm probably right?
October 16th, 2023 at 4:28 PM ^
Don't think of it as MSU losing 4 recruits, but rather 4 high school players correctly choosing to not throw their lives away. This is to be celebrated.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:32 PM ^
Interesting that Michigan hasn't offered him. Looks like he's a top-200 player.
MSU's class rank is now down to 75(!) for 2024.
They've had one decent class (2023) in the past five years. They are fucked...unless the new coach can pull off a better version of a Coach Prime and bring in a ton of talented players.
EDIT: This is what passes for intelligence on RCMB. Here's what one person posted re: the recent decommitment: "He gone for now….he’s one I think we would have a good shot at getting back. We were number one on his list when he committed. Hope it ends up well for all involved."
I'd like to ask this guy where else would a team be on a player's list when he commits to that team?
October 16th, 2023 at 4:38 PM ^
I’m not sure why that would be. I checked 247 and it doesn’t show him being offered ever by Michigan.
Perhaps one is forthcoming.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:40 PM ^
Yes, priceless Sparty logic.
247 is interestingly enthusiastic about him:

Dennis is an odd recruit. Committed to MSU as a lowish 3 star with only MAC and low P5 offers, then shot up in the rankings, but his offer list still isn't great. PSU offered, but it's unclear if it's committable
October 16th, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
It looks like he's had quite the ratings bump this year. Was an 86 on 247 on 4/27 and just rose to a 92 on 10/12. Looks like we have 2 IOL commits that are both higher than an 86, so maybe at the time we saw our current commits as better prospects. I'd imagine he gets a Michigan offer if there's interest.
I'd love it if we could get Nick Marsh, but there seems to be a LOT of other things going on with that prospect.
October 16th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Top 200 who also likes to play school- offers from Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, Penn, etc.
MSU is a baffling decision in the first place for a prospect of his athletic/academic background. I could understand if he chose, for instance, Bama to pursue his NFL aspiration, OR Harvard because...well, it's Harvard. But, MSU? C'mon young man, do better!
October 16th, 2023 at 6:18 PM ^
Sounds like he plans to.
October 16th, 2023 at 8:08 PM ^
Yep, one step ahead of ya, boss.
October 16th, 2023 at 6:58 PM ^
I'd like to ask this guy where else would a team be on a player's list when he commits to that team?
There is a high likelihood the person who posted on RCMB has sub-average intelligence and you are correct in mocking him. However, without knowing anything about the post on RCMB, the athlete, his recruitment, or his de-commitment, I think I can make all that make sense.
Perhaps what the post meant is that the player's top choice, regardless of offers, was MSU. Other players may choose MSU because it is their best offer, but "number one on their list" is some other school that did not offer. But in his case, he really wanted to go to MSU above all other schools. (Why? Maybe he's a legacy or some other reason.)
October 16th, 2023 at 7:34 PM ^
Shouldn't this be a perfect time for his parents to intervene and guide his path? Maybe they are, maybe not. But, sometimes parents put too much weight on "unconditional support,"- we'll support your decision no matter what bs. FUCK THAT. I mean, I wanted to go to CU Boulder for all the wrong reasons and my parents basically said, "Sure, no problem. Good luck paying your way." And that was the end of that conversation.
These are 17-18 year old kids that need hard guidance. Respect his preference, but man, given his circumstance/resume, I'm taking the lead on this, if I were his parents. And it would start with the end of the MSU conversation.
October 16th, 2023 at 8:27 PM ^
He was a low 3* without many good offers. Shot up the rankings but the offers never followed. No real reason for Michigan to pursue with 5 OL already committed, a 6th was only an option if it were an elite one.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
MSU might have drop tackle football and replace it with the first organized power 5 flag football team.
October 16th, 2023 at 5:29 PM ^
Ah, so he has designs on the Olympic Team!
October 16th, 2023 at 6:28 PM ^
What about couch burning or pizza delivery, hear there pretty good at those....
October 17th, 2023 at 8:45 AM ^
They could become an inaugural member of the new 8 man college football conference....the Lil Bro's.
October 18th, 2023 at 7:51 AM ^
Didn't USC already do that with their defense?
October 16th, 2023 at 4:36 PM ^
Sparty will have to settle with 2* & 3* recruits.
As for Andrew Dennis not getting a U of M offer (so far), could be academic or he won't fit they system and culture.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:37 PM ^
I'm surprised to hear they had four commitments. Maybe not any more.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:41 PM ^
Doesn't matter. Once they hire Urban Meyer, then they will get 20-30 5 stars / Heisman Finalists in the transfer portal and turn themselves into what Colorado is this year (oops, they just lost to Stanford? after being up 29-0 at the half?) I mean BETTER than Colorado, because they already have the talent. So add in all the 5 star transfers begging to play with Urban, and the talent already there, and coaching that can't lose, and they will be National champs.
Note: There is no flaw in the above logic. Do not bother looking for it. I checked multiple times with RCMB folks and no flaws were found. Remember, this is the program that was able to lock in Tucker for 10 years and $95 million before anyone could hire him away. No way they mess this coaching hire up.
October 16th, 2023 at 5:08 PM ^
actual post: "Urban wouldn't have offered this guy anyway"
October 16th, 2023 at 5:44 PM ^
Saban couldn't cut it there. Sorry. Meyer is not a better coach or a recruiter than Saban. They are delusional.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:41 PM ^
Andrew Dennis is kinda an interesting recruit. He basically only had MAC and low P5 offers when he committed to MSU, then shot up in the rankings, but his offer list still doesn't match his ranking. His best offer is PSU, but it's unclear how hard they're even pursuing him. He just visited Purdue before decommitting. Seems like either the recruiting services or the big time programs are going to be right about him, but not both
October 16th, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
It's really just 247 that's super high on him. Everyone else has him as a 3*
October 16th, 2023 at 4:56 PM ^
So sad.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
I'm surprised there are only 4 decommits so far.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:59 PM ^
well they probably only had 5 commits to begin with...
October 16th, 2023 at 6:22 PM ^
Rico Beard is doing his best to assure recruits that Urban Meyer really is coming. His "I'm no longer interested in coaching" announcement was just a ploy to get more money. Rico thinks that the fact that he hasn't been asked about it on Fox means they're in negotiation. Rico is a true Sparty in EVERY sense.
October 16th, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
Only four? It will be very interesting to see which - how many - players decide to enter the portal.
A coach like Sanders would draw a LOT of interest from the players. But, I highly doubt Coach Prime has EL on his list of possible, future coaching destinations.
October 16th, 2023 at 5:03 PM ^
They aren’t getting Sanders or a coach like Sanders. Michigan State is an absolute dumpster fire right now. I can’t imagine any top tier coach wanting to go there for any amount of money.
October 16th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
Somebody calling themselves MSUM25 just posted on a Spartan board that "UofM hasn't beaten MSU by more than 3 scores in EL since the 80s. Michigan's passing attack blows, and we are okay versus the Run."
Apparently in East Lansing being second nationally in passing efficiency "blows."
lol you can't make this shit up.
October 16th, 2023 at 5:17 PM ^
"UofM hasn't beaten MSU by more than 3 scores in EL since the 80s
That's pure Little Brother right there.
October 16th, 2023 at 7:50 PM ^
Great point!
October 16th, 2023 at 5:23 PM ^
Soon....
October 17th, 2023 at 12:47 AM ^
Funny they say - by MORE than THREE scores. So losing 21-7 (94 yards of offense in 2018) is OK? How about 23-7 (with one fake FG TD as the only score) in 1997? Or 45-28 in 1991, when it was 45-14 until Moe put in the scrubs.
I was happy with the win in 2016, since it broke some bad karma in EL. But was also NOT happy it wasn't more like 38-16, vs. 31-22.
October 16th, 2023 at 5:05 PM ^
We should take their wins and their recruits…
October 16th, 2023 at 5:14 PM ^
I can understand a 'wait and hold' strategy for some recruits (P5 offer is a P5 offer), but anyone with high-level opportunities has all but decommitted officially.
October 16th, 2023 at 5:35 PM ^
This tugs at my heart. Our tunnel vision at their plight beats apathy.
McBurrows might want to skip this one. More than two Wolverines should not show happiness in their presence since its obvious they won't be.
October 16th, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
Saw last night that they had just lost a commitment of a 3* WR from NY I believe. The kid had received an offer from Michigan in August after his commitment to MSU.

Remember D’wan Mathis the 6’6” QB/WR from Oak Park? He was committed to Iowa State then MSU then Ohio State then finally enrolled at Georgia in 2019. He transferred to Temple a year later in 2020. He just re-entered the portal.
October 16th, 2023 at 10:20 PM ^
Some people want to visit all 50 states, some people want to play for all 128 FBS teams.
Don't judge.
October 17th, 2023 at 1:09 AM ^
Now I’m picturing him driving a full size conversion van adorned with stickers of the schools on the spare tire cover mounted on the back door with outlines of the 128.
October 16th, 2023 at 10:23 PM ^
Aww don't get their hopes up that he might come back. They've had a rough enough day learning that after all they're NOT getting Urban and the 3-4 National Championships in five years he was totally going to win in his 60s at Michigan fucking State lol.
October 17th, 2023 at 12:57 AM ^
During the Lloyd era, we picked up Indiana state's top DB recruit and the #1 safety recruit (Jerimy Finch) in the country, only for him to change his mind to jump to Urban at Florida. The guy was barely average at that and later got busted for breaking into a liquor store. Hope this guy doesn't follow in those footsteps.
