Softball World Series Schedule Set
The Softball World Series schedule is set. We take on Oklahoma Thursday Night at 9:30. I guess to save the best for last.
The World Series is set up as 2 pools of 4. The 4 teams play a double elimination bracket. Each bracket produces a winner. The winners then move on to the best 2 of 3 for the title.
Then if we win, we play Friday. Dare say, if we lose; we play Saturday. The bracket finals will be Sunday. The World Series is Monday, Tuesday and the "if" game is Wednesday.
Good luck to our lovely ladies in Maize. We are all so proud of you regardless of the outcome in Oklahoma City. I just hope the Honorary Team Member Emily Hepker is well enough to make the trip. I spoke to several fans and many are going.
So I will see you all in Oklahoma City for the first game on Thursday Night. I will post pictures as well.
I still hold to my pre-season prediction of us and Oklahoma in the Finals.

Since we are in the same bracket as Oklahoma, isn't it impossible for us to play each other in the final? Maybe I am understanding it wrong.
There's a weird crossover between the two brackets. The team that wins their first game, but loses their second switches brackets, with the corresponding team from the other bracket. It's unlikely for a loser of the first game to make the championship series, but it's technically possible, especially if it's Oklahoma that loses game one and Michigan that loses game two. It's also possible they play in just the bracket final, if one goes 2-0 and the other climbs back into it from the loser's bracket. Though obviously in that case, they won't meet in the championship series.
Arizona did it in 2010: they lost to Tennessee on Thursday in round 1 and won 2 games Saturday and 2 more games on Sunday to advance to the best-of-3 finals. They lost to UCLA, 6-5 and 15-9, in the finals.
for the history lesson. Your knowledge and passion for M softball is greatly appreciated.
We can win this if, and only if Haylie is healthy. I do not believe any rumors floating around campus.
How'd we end up with the top seed Oklahoma when there's several teams seeded below us still remaining?
Not that Oklahoma can't lose, but it would be a shock in the softball world to see them coming out of the losers bracket. Ricketts is 29-1 this year, their pitching staff is easily the best 1/2 tandem in recent memory and they're scoring more runs than anyone in the country. The closest game they've played this postseason was still a five run victory.
is good. I love watching them, very exciting last weekend. If Nebrask beat 'em, we can.
Lane with 10 more RBI en route to the Championship Series. The Kool-Aid, I am drinking it.
was my player of the year as a Freshman. Her production fell off last year as did the entire team. This year, she is back on track and more.
Oklahoma is a tall task for our ladies, we'll need a few things to fall our way but it's certainly possible. Go Blue! I'll be watching Thursday night.
