Listen, man, I’m at lunch right now. If I get to it today then it won’t be til 3 at the earliest.
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:47 PM ^
We’ll see i Guess. But, as I mentioned in another thread, OSU first fall camp practice was moved up from 3:30pm to 9:30 am. Could that be the reason? It seems at least plausible. Only time will tell.
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:47 PM ^
Well seeing as how I am the Ohio State director of press conferences let me answer that for you...
A guy with heckler in his name seems highly probable for that position.
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:47 PM ^
Probably sometimes around 1 AM. Keep that F5 button primed!
nope, it's at 11:59, and you must hit F5 until then.

Dude, they aren't going to announce a formal panel of both insiders and outsiders to do a thorough investigation, then have a press conference the next day outlining their findings. That's just...dumb...
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:49 PM ^
I would agree, but so many people said “insiders” were saying press conference this afternoon.
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
A lot of people who state that they're "insiders" are in fact outsiders.
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
My mother's business partner's best friend's fourth cousin once removed who lives in Ohio heard ________________.
Seemed to hear that a lot yesterday.
Rarely if ever will an insider admit to being an insider ...
I would like to be insider.
Outsiders?
Are any of them named Pony Boy?
I'll lose my shit if Scott Hall and Kevin Nash walk through the door.
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:52 PM ^
I expect we'll hear lots of things about this from "insiders" that don't know their assholes from a hole in the ground.
Uhhhh...weren’t you one of those people?
Huh?
Yes. 1984 guy, or Mineral King, Benn, WD, or any of his other thousand names posted last night that family of his in Cbus was a personal friend of Urban, spouting nonsense "inside info".
How do people not connect the dots here? I mean, seriously.
Dude you are a complete liar. I never said me or anyone I knew was a personal friend of that dude. Show me that quote.
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:50 PM ^
That does seem unlikely. Consider this your +1.
Furthermore, it would be silly for them to know Urban is going to resign today...and still pay money to hire a firm to investigate the wrong doings.
They couldn't not hire a firm to investigate. That's standard operating procedure for stuff like this.
I don't think there are any outsiders on that formal panel. Seemed like 5 out of 6 were definite insiders. Makes me think that most likely the last guy is also just another buckeye on the same rotten tree.

Why is there a limit to the size of a gif? 2mb, that’s it?
I recommend compressing the gif. There are plenty of sites and apps you can find that will do this for you. Odd it's such a small limit - most gifs I find are larger.

No press conference today. Meyer will indeed skate. Multiple game suspension at most. OSU will play the victim the entire season while having an “us against the world” mentality. It's going to be pathetic.
August 3rd, 2018 at 12:53 PM ^
This!
I don't think there's been enough time for a decision, but the longer this thing drags out the more likely it is that he is retained. At least that's what it seems like to me.
So confused. You created a thread asking if there is going to be a press conference. And you say "This" to a post that gives an opinion on why there will not be a conference. It feels like you didn't think there will be a conference but wanted someone else to agree with you. Waste of thread if you ask me.
That's how he rolls
he's arguing with his 3 other usernames
Me neither. It's summer - too warm out for that ish.
They never thoroughly checked Dodge Chargers sold for a dollar - "yep - the sale was legally titled - nothing to see - don't mind the price recorded or lack of significant financial withdrawal by the player..." - so why do we think they'll dig deep now?
I'm in the cynical facade of an investigation followed by a 4 game suspension camp (I.e., back for Penn State)
"It is just as likely that they find even bigger issues than what they are investigating."
Hugh Freeze told me that isn't possible.
Maybe they are using these precious moments to do a bit of a data scrub/cleanup to get their house in order so to speak...
/s...well, maybe..
Then they're gonna need to get someone at Verizon or whatever phone company they use to "assist."
An institution doesn't have to FOIA its members work records, just for the record. They own them.
They really just need to begin the healing process like Gus Johnson said about Penn State.

Legal analysts said it would take roughly two weeks before the assembled committee would have enough information to make any determination. I'm sticking with my original estimate of Labor Day/Labor Day weekend being if/when they announce his resignation.
And then win the national championship

I just think that this is now an intriguing choice for Ohio State - either do what most any other institution would have likely summarily done and let Meyer go or concoct a way to keep him and confirm a perception that is held by many people regarding your program, a perception molded by your own behavior.
I think their dilemma is even more difficult - the reporter has clearly chased this story for weeks and stated yesterday that he has more stuff. They cannot risk a clearance of Urban after a panel investigation if the reporter can trump their decision.
Plus, there are many incidents involving Zach beyond the 2015 and 2009 incidents cited so far - how will the panel really vet all incidents that could have occurred? They cannot take Urban’s word that nothing else exists. The panel almost has the impossible task of “proving innocence” by Urban over the last 20 years based on his contract.
I think you're giving them waaaaay too much credit.
I think their only concern is: can we keep him? If they find a way, any way, to keep him, they will.
And given that it's apparently turning out to not be a legal issue, Title IX or otherwise - just an ethical issue - at least, that's what the most recent stuff I've seen says - then I have no doubt that they will say screw ethics, give us the Ws. Really no doubt about that.
Only thing that would stop it is if something else comes up that does make it a legal issue. Which it might, and which I think the committee is tasked with doing. That's their "can we keep him?" criterion. "We can keep him if we don't find anything that will make it a legal issue," by which I mean, find something that the NCAA or the courts will use to force OSU to get rid of Urban. If they don't find anything like that, then their answer to "can we keep him" is yes, and by damn sure they will keep him.
They floated the smear job and victim blaming last night and enough of their own fan base bought it that they know they won't have an internal riot if he's retained. Now it's just time to play the news cycle game, let things cool off, and reinstate him in time for that TCU road game.
What comes out of acting like an ass all the time? If you don’t like it, don’t post in it, or here’s a better idea start a thread that can give us something to talk about...
Geez man, stop being a dick.
Given who you're replying to, this is like pissing into the wind.
Yep... Bando is always good for showing up just to say something that makes him sound smart, while basically just being rude.

It is unlikely that the Blue Ribbon Commission named to investigate the Scarlet Letter doings of the OSU coaching staff have had much chance to meet let alone come to a conclusion. That is, if they are going to thoroughly gather and analyze the evidence and come to a fair and logical conclusion.
If there is going to be a press conference today that will deliver bad (for OSU) news, look for that bomb to drop right around 5 pm EDT.
I have spent 44 years in the media and communications industry and this is a common practice for delivering bad news. When you do it late during Friday business hours you get the news out in time for the evening TV news but do not give the press time to do much followup. Also, the weekend is a quiet hard news period. The ink-stained wretches and their ilk want Saturday and Sunday off just like the rest of us. These factors combine to mute the story.
It also gives the PR guys and their overlords time to come up with the spin that will put them in the best light come Monday.
