I'd like to see Kalis benched. He's our weakest player on O and every time I'm watching him he looks poor. Cole should be on the interior but we don't have a LT yet

Downhill, head up, hit your man and drive running game. Very satisfying. Though many calls were at the fault of the referees I hope we see less false starts and holds that really killed some drives. This could have been even more of a blowout. Something tells me our coaching staff is getting results from practie and will improve discipline.

Also, good to note our stable of backs and see four separate guys get involved today. Go Blue!

Smith had a good game, finished some runs with authority, hit the holes better, and earned the right to keep playing.  That said, I think Isaac may have been able to break some longer runs given the same opportunities.

goes along will determine how the season turns out.  The defense has showed a lot in both games.  The running game took a big step forward today.   I really loved how the team got better and better as the game went on.  That's not something we've seen much in recent years.

Overall very impressed. That's what football should look like.

Not concerned but a couple things come to mind:
1) perry cannot block. The bubble screen is obviously going to be one of our staples and he has to get a body on someone.
2) drake Harris seems happy to just make a catch and doesn't think about YAC

Again, both are (basically in Harris' case) freshman but if they are going to see substantial game time need to clean that up

I am hoping the offensive scheme is so good the rest of the season that Rudock staring down one receiver each play won't be a deciding factor in a game

It was pretty awesome to see us ripping off nice chunks of yardage on runs.  It's been a while.  Even though the OSU defense was pretty worn down by the end, it was encouraging to see so many different players having good runs.  If we can rotate multiple backs into the game and not lose efficacy, that would be a wonderful thing, and keep everybody fresh.

It would be nice if Rudock would stop turning the ball over, but I'm confident he will improve in time and be what we expected him to be before the start of the season.

..even ajusting for the weak opponent.

One of the (many) things to improve for next week: Hit a couple of long passes.  Through two weeks Michigan has failed to hit a long pass, and this sort of offeneise scheme will not work withour being able to hit them,

Overall, lot of improvement and lots of things that still need improvement.

It's fine for a meh opponent, but when we hit the better teams Rudock may kill any chance we have of winning.

Rudock just isn't very good.  You don't lose your starting job at Iowa just because of a bad OC.  If he can be mediocre it is still ok but the optimism from the off season is gone in terms of his taking a step forward playing on a better team.  He is who is and it isn't very good.

OSU is small and young on D, and there were a few times Smith ran away from the hole and into a defender ... and crunched a guy and kept going. I think that will have a different outcome against the good teams we face. Still, he delivered - fewer bad reads, consistent YAC, and taking care of the football. We did exactly what we should do against this team. Rudock made some good choices, but the INT and backpedal on the sack/fumble were not good choices. I remain concerned, as he looks to exceed his 2014 turnovers before we hit B1G play.

Two more turnovers and an inability to complete a pass downfield!? Last week it was "everyone else's fault". (sure, 1 really was, but I personally think JH was going easy on him because he wants him to remaiin confident. JH basically said the pick 6 was on both the QB and receiver.)

The fumble today was exactly what a 5th year QB was supposed to eliminate. At this rate he'll have 32.5 turnovers for the season (I'm assuming a bowl game) but at least they won't be HIS fault.

And before anyone gets too excited, of course I know the staff is in a much better position to evaluate than me.But that is also true for the people who post that Rudock is "clearly our best option"!

Just think we need to face the fact that the QB play has to get MUCH better.

Respect for the OL effort. Nice to see Smith actually put his hand on a blocker's ass and follow him forward for once (My favorite play offensively today. Gave me hope.).

Loved Peppers separating a receiver from the football. He was 10 yards from the play when the pass was thrown and just turned and closed HARD!

Chris Wormley is looking like the player Mattison and others have led us to believe he could be.

Side note: It was nice to go home and actually watch a DVRd game rather then hitting delete!

PS Wish Oregon hadn't missed that wide open receiver on their last drive.
