Due to the uncertainty of weather, this goes up early...

This thread will be your official repository for thoughts on coaching and the general quality of it.

And the d-line was the only unit on the Michigan team that scored a touchdown the past two games. The d-line has also looked good this year. Hoke's a good coach.

The offense was a tire-fire last year.

1 year later new coordinator of course it's troubled (but hey! positive yards, rushing yards, and occasional cohesion on the line). It's just not consitent enough. Is it really Nuss/Hoke's fault Devin Gardner and Shane Morris are turnover prone? Did everyone forget that our 0-line was young confused and had no true direction or scheme? This year was never gonna be easy.

Everyone relax, we're getting alot better it just hurts now. HOpefully Morriss settles in and settles down as the starter. We have a running game, we have a passing game (which we inexplicably do not use, but IT'S NOT HOKE CALLING THE PLAYS). So people saying promote Nuss make no god damn sense.

I can entertain the idea of firing Hoke because he didn't replace Borges and Gardner soon enough though.

So I know there aren't any real options out there and both Miles and either Harbaugh seem like long shots. If Hoke gets fired, how does Kirby Smart look like as a potential replacement? He doesn't have any head coaching experience but dude has been a solid DC at Alabama for years.

We just bore witness to the final datapoint required to resolutely conclude Hoke is just bizaaro RR and equally incompetent.  They are just two opposite sides of the same image across a mirror.

RR Positives:
1. Brought modern football to one side of the field - offense.
2. Created a highly explosive, entertaining game style (drafted Denard).
3. Trended positively every year in terms of wins.

RR Negatives:
1. Bad recruiter
2. Not Michigan man
3. Totally clueless on the other side of the field - defense.
4.  Defenses and D coordinator performances were horrible.
5. Didn't coach too many players "up."

Hoke Positives:
1. Good recruiter.
2. Michigan man and great guy.
3. With Mattison, helped establish a solid squad on one side fo the field - offense.

Hoke Negatives:
1. Totally clueless on the other side of the field - offense.
2. Offenses and O coordinator performances are horrible.
3. Horrible at half time adjustments, if there any at all (see Utah game).
4. Trending negatively every year in terms of wins.
5. Glorified, non-headset wearing, sideline cheerleader.

The only ray of hope for Michigan over the next 4 years is if luck strikes us and a top notch head coaching candidate emerges where none currently exists.

Brady Hoke is a good man, I still believe that, he is a man I would entrust my son to play for.  That's why it's painful to say this, I think it would be best if we lose most of the rest of our games so we can move on from Hoke.  If he turns it around and we finish 8-4 and he saes his job I think it will be very bad for the program.  He needs to go now!

this staff is gone.  I realize we're only 4 games into a new OC but against the two teams with a pulse, Nuss has scored 0 TD's.  Gardner looks like he's done.  I never thought I'd say this but I kinda wish Borges was here.

Mattison - got competely out adjusted at halftime.  Utah has the last possession of the first half and gets a FG.  Comes out of halftime and goes down the field like a hot knife through butter.  A 10-10 tie is 20-10 Utah in two possessions and you could just tell the game was over.

This team might be lucky to get to a bowl game tihis year.

I honestly look at the coordinators we have and the talent we have and see a really good team. I wish I understood why it wasn't all coming together. DG always looks like a deer in the headlights and it's the Michigan Way to be completely outcoached by another team

I'm so disappointed in Nuss at this juncture. Every pass he calls is play action. Every. Single. One. I understand he's trying to simplify the offense for the QB's, but we need a one-step or three-step pass game to take advantage of some matchups I'm seeing in underneath coverage. We are too talented at WR/TE(Butt) to not be utilizing them in the quick game. Also, the tempo on DG's last drive was infuriating to say the least. Week 4, you should be getting in the swing of things and have your 6, 4, 2 minute offense in and be able to no-huddle. I've coached some pretty bad teams in my life, but all of them had no-huddle and had the offense going enough to be competitive by our 4th game (I know HS offenses are a lot less complex, but still) and scoring points.

I've supported Hoke  since he was hired, thought he was going to deliver us back to prominence. I still think there's a chance this season, albeit microscopically thin. Now it's time to nut up or get the hell out of Ann Arbor. Win the B1G or beat both OSU & MSU, Hoke or pack it up. The kids look so uninspired and I watched them go up the tunnel and I didn't see any helmets being slammed, no walls being punched, no emotion. I think the kids are losing hope and spirit. We'll see in B1G play, but it looks bleak.

I pray I'm wrong and stuff gets squared away and back on track...

Oh, and Brandon can get the hell out whether Hoke turns it around or not.

Hey Gary, I know we could have handled that thing in the 90s better, but what are you doing for the rest of 2014?

If Hoke has to go in season, bring back Moeller for the rest of the season to keep the seat warm for Harbaugh.  His brought UMs offense into the modern ages once already and his age fits the grandfather model we are currently sporting on the staff...

The next coach probably won't be Jim Harbaugh, but his brother John may be interested.  I imagine he is pretty pissed off about the whole Ray Rice scandal as he reportedly wanted Rice released right after it happened, but he was vetoed by management and ownership.

It occurred to me after the game that 2014 being the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I is apt. Because the Michigan coaches seem to approach football like cavalry officers charging a machine gun nest. Doomed idiots, but determined to go out on their own old-fashioned terms.
