Should Jim Harbaugh be let go at seasons end? Yay or Nay?

I vote yay. What say you guys?

Absolutely not. Things look bleak at the moment, but let's see how the offense develops over the course of the season. Wisconsin was always going to be tough for our defense because we don't have DTs.

Year five is absolutely relevant.  Year five should be the culmination of great recruiting and great coaching.  If not in year five, when?  Harbaugh had and spent enormous amounts of goodwill in his first four seasons, by any objective view in 2015, 2019 should have been Michigan being an unstoppable force.  Year five is the year Harbaugh has all his own, and only his own, players.  No more excuses about Hoke leaving an empty cupboard.  No more excuses of still rebuilding after the 2014 trash season.  This is bad, this is tending to 2014 bad.

Last season’s defensive line included Rashan Gary, Chase Winovich and Bryan Mone, three players currently on NFL rosters. Among the interior rotation players were Lawrence Marshall who graduated, Aubrey Solomon who transferred and Michael Dwumfour whose playing time this season has been limited to a few snaps in the opening game due to an injury. Luiji Vilain, who once was considered a promising rotation player until injuries derailed his career, has played in one game in three seasons. (Walk-on Carl Myers has appeared in five games during his four seasons.)

Also gone from last season’s defense is defensive line coach Greg Mattison who must’ve known that he’d become remembered as the proverbial rat leaving a sinking ship, and who appears to be on his way to winning the Big Ten championship that eluded him during his recent stay at Michigan.

Having failed to satisfactorily replace Mattison and six players who were key to 2018's defensive line, and coupled with the disastrous performances of the offense to date, it looks like Michigan’s defensive line is going to be a major obstacle towards a successful season.

I mean, all we have is to go off is game day.

And the guy I saw in his first two seasons was passionate, firey, got after his players, the refs, etc.

The guy I see today stares blankly, rarely showing any displayed emotion or fire.

So, I am not sure what other conclusions to draw.

Nevermind. I see a lot of you are still in denial.

Let me rephrase, if Harbaugh finishes 7-5 with losses to MSU, OSU and ND should he be let go?

If he is 10-1 or 9-2 going into OSU, you cannot fire him. However, it is likely this team will be 7-4 going into OSU and that will be hard to defend as it is year 5 in the Harbaugh Experiment.

I am already chalking up losses to Penn State and Notre Dame. I expect to lose to either MSU or Iowa.

With the amount of talent on the offensive side of the ball, to have such a shitty team is inexcusable.

Beat OSU or hit the road. He should be coaching for his job here. The sad thing is I don't think he would even give a shit if he wasn't the coach anymore.

Radio show with Dad. Pal around with his kid at work.

Michigan football is not a kingdom ruled by the Harbaugh dynasty. He's a solid turn around coach who's doing a mediocre job now and he needs to get treated as such.

Not gonna happen until revenue into the Athletic Department starts going down.

If people really, truly feel Harbaugh needs to go then those people need to stop going to games and stop buying merchandise. Most will not do that.

No offense, I just never, ever understood that argument.

Pro teams and schools make the vast majority of their money from boosters and TV deals. The fans buying merchandise and tickets is a microscopic percentage of the total budget.

It should not have to be up the fans for the leaders to understand the shit ain't working.

All decisions should be postponed until after the Maryland game the first week of November since their next bye week which is the 2nd weekend of November. That gives them 2 weeks to adapt to any changes.

That gives them 6 games, 3 of the opponents are ranked, to try and turn things around. I think he's lost the locker room and expect them to win 3 or 4 games during this span.

Losing the locker room is the scariest issue of them all. Joe Simon mentioned something about this on WTKA's Countdown to Kick Off Pregame show. He said in passing about what could happen if this team were to lose big to Wisc, and they sure did.

The comment got my attention but I thought Michigan would play Wisc close (pregame) and it wasn't close.

Hey guys remember how 2007 turned out?   Lloyd even acknowledged after the Oregon loss that he’s at peace with losing his job (in so many words).  That’s about as bleak as it is today.  Is it possible that Michigan still goes 8-4 like that year (losing to teams with a pulse) and then win a nice bowl game for a Harbz sendoff?

Out of curiosity, if you put yourself in the place of a Wisconsin fan last year, would you have advocated firing Paul Chryst after he came into Michigan Stadium and got his ass kicked?

I'm not happy with Harbaugh. But I'm allergic to moves made from panic. We get through the season (I'm guessing around 7-5) and see if there's been signs of life. If not, start looking and don't give any points to anyone for having a Michigan connection. The Michigan Man thing has to die.

What has Chryst ever won? A weak division? Michigan has beaten the winner of the West division twice in Harbaugh's four seasons here and would most likely have won that division in 2016 and 2018 if he'd played in it. The West division has yet to win the Big Ten since the conference realignment. Wisconsin hasn't beaten Ohio State under Chryst and hasn't won a Big Ten championship since 2012, when they only even made it to Indy because OSU and PSU were under sanction. Winning the West division doesn't mean jack.

For the first time, I am slightly entertaining this question.  I’m still in the nay crowd.

Something broke with this team after the last OSU game and I have no idea how that can be fixed.  The efforts from some (not all) of the players looks mediocre at best and that makes me think the buy-in to the coaches philosophys is not there.  Also could be a lack of leadership in the locker room.  Who knows. I’m just a fan and still love Michigan.  That won’t ever change.  It could be worse and I could have been raised a sharty fan. Man, that would suck!

maybe let’s let the season play out.  That being said, I’m not interested in waiting until after the bowl game to decide (if there is one).

If he loses to Ohio State then most definitely yay. But it won’t matter what I think. Our AD won’t fire him. What I’m hoping is harbaugh just takes an nfl job and leaves with some dignity left

Are you fucking serious? This thread, and all the others like it, is just nonsense.

Who is gonna come in and do better than Harbaugh? I'm serious. You fire Harbaugh and then bring in who exactly? You don't turn around Stanford and the 49ers (and take them to three straight NFC title games) on accident. The man can coach, but I just think he's lost his fire.

We need him to regain the fire he once had - the guy who Pete Carroll asked "what's your deal?" after he ran up the score on USC. The guy who had 'tantrums' on the sideline early on in his Michigan career and was passionate and engaged on game day. The guy who rankled the SEC when he set up satellite camps.

How he does that is beyond me, but we get that guy back and the ship will be righted.
