Shawn F-in Crable

Submitted by The Shredder on
I was watching the 07 UM vs MSU game on Hulu and even though Crable misses the tackle on on Ringer at the MSU 20 he catches Ringer on The UM 5! That's crazy for LB. I expect him to do well in the NFL and I had a bit of a man crush on him. I miss him. There I said it. I feel he was a bit of a late bloomer, didn't start seeing his talents until late in his Jr year. I always wondered if he could have been a good basketball player since he is 6'6" and all. At 2:30 is the clip

For every big play Crable made, there was another boneheaded one. The hit on Troy Smith might have been the most agonizing thing i've ever witnessed.

I was about 50 feet away from that play in the UM student section when it happened. Saw it coming a mile away. I just remember yelling "Don't him him out of bounds, DON'T HIT HIM OUT OF BOUNDS ... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Yes, there was a section (albeit small) in one corner of Ohio Stadium set aside for Michigan students -- section 29AA. It was the section closest to the field right along the goal line of the end zone that OSU was attacking in the 2nd and 4th quarters. Do I have to scan my fucking ticket stub for you assclowns? Do you honestly think I'm so stupid that I thought the 2006 OSU game was at Michigan Stadium, and that I decided to say I was there just do impress you?

Which is understandable. Your explanation was sufficient, but it did sound a little fishy. Fuses are getting shorter as the season approaches... under 4 weeks left.

I'm not sure if it's from anything. For a while, the only person I knew who said it was one of my roommates in college. Then I just randomly saw it on theonion.com a couple months ago, thought it was funny, and figured I should start throwing it out there every now and then. I don't really know where it originated, though.

Don't forget taking the wrong blocks on the first PAT and the blocked FG against App St. He got away with the PAT, but the blocked FG... argh... And this was from a senior captain.

Unfortunately, the two most memorable moments of Crable's UM career were his penalty on the Smith hit (but Rey Maualuga spearing the UCLA QB on the sideline isn't a penalty, it's a defensive playmaker laying the wood) and his blown assignment at the end of The Horror. Probably would've been a great Quick in Robinson's scheme. Assuming that doesn't involve CONSTANTLY making him into a defensive end on 3rd down, essentially taking him out of the play before it begins. Never understood that with English.

That's the play I always try to remember him by. It's funny because it looks like Ringer is running as fast as he can and Crable looks like he's just jogging.

Posting highlights from the 2007 game that we won? Typical Michigan fan, clinging to the past. Don't you understand that the UM-MSU rivalry began in 2008?

think that late hit call was iffy at best. I know a rule is a rule, but the refs need to take into account the situation. It was not malicious and took place at a crucial moment of a potential national championship deciding game. I hate seeing a guy get penalized for trying to make a play. On the other hand, had the situation been reversed, and it was Laurinaitis being penalized for hitting Henne, than it was the proper call...

Like what was said above for every single great play Crable made he would later do something stupid. Sadly the one thing I will always remember Crable by is the hit on Troy Smith in the 2006 OSU game.

for the foul that put Rumeal Robinson on the line against Seton Hall? Watching that replay recently I did not see the foul. Was it a reach in, a shove? Best guess is that Seton Hall was a very physical Big East team, and the ref made a split second decision with that in mind. On Crable, was it out of bounds or helmet to helmet. I recall helmet to helmet and thinking that Crable is so much taller than Troy Smith that it would have been hard to avoid a helmet hit.

between the two it would have been helmet to testicles.....However, I was pretty sure it was called a late hit. My problem was they were both running full tilt and Smith was just stepping out of bounds when he got popped. Crable had no opportunity to let up from what I remember seeing. Had he started to let up Smith may not have stepped out and continued running up field. It was a bang-bang play I would have just liked to see it let go.....However, as stated before if it was OSU hitting Henne I would be on the other side of the fence.

The throw Henne made to Mathews for the TD that made it 24-21 (at 4:10 in the video) is one of the best I've ever seen. Talk about perfectly leading your WR. And the throw to Manningham - wow, I had forgotten that it was 3rd and long. That's an incredibly ballsy throw to make. Was that an audible?
