From RR's press conference:
"Mike Shaw's availability will depend on tests (head) this week."
November 15th, 2010 at 1:58 PM ^
gotcha, man that kid can not catch a break
November 15th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
as Fitz Toussaint's luck
November 15th, 2010 at 2:04 PM ^
What happened with him??
November 15th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
I don't think anything, but he just hasn't played yet other than the 2 plays against BG.
I saw him in the game against Purdue, but they didn't give it to him
November 15th, 2010 at 2:06 PM ^
What hasn't happened to him? Although he did see the field saturday.
November 15th, 2010 at 2:52 PM ^
I saw him in on one play on Saturday. He completely missed a block and was promptly taken out of the game.
November 15th, 2010 at 2:06 PM ^
he had a terrible day at the craps table

Fitz Toussaint = Mr. Glass
November 15th, 2010 at 2:18 PM ^
Did RR give an update as to Martin?
I was hoping that RR kept him out of the game not because he was injured, but because RR wanted to give him more time to recouperate before these next two tough games. Not that RR would tell the press that.
November 15th, 2010 at 2:10 PM ^
From Big House Bob:
"I was in the second row in the end zone and the players had to walk right by us to get to the locker room. Mike was being helped by two players and was clearly not looking good. He seemed "drunk' which would lead me to believe he had a serious concussion."
Obviously, BHB isn't a doctor, but it looks like Shaw had his "bell rung" pretty good. As much as I would like to see him play, I am very happy that RR and the Michigan staff are conservative when it comes to concussions and endangering a kid's future. Unless, of course, he has the "moxie" to fool everyone, doctors included, into thinking he is OK.
Since only one player on the team officially possesses moxie, we won't have to worry about Shaw being on the field unless he is recovered enough to not be in danger. I just want him to get well and enjoy one injury-free year as a senior.

more guys don't wear the shell helmet of don beebe fame
Its totally not cool...but neither is a concussion
November 15th, 2010 at 3:33 PM ^
Yeah, the fact that his brains weren't scrambled after doing this is a testament to the efficacy of that helmet:

I don't know why embeds never work for me. MGoBlog must hate my Mac:

Thanks. I am a technotard.
Also, I just realized that it was Mark Kelso that had the Gazoo helmet.

i still can't believe that we haven't seen more of mike cox this year. i assume he's been overtaken by hopkins, but he has more speed and wiggle than hopkins though he's a bit smaller.
November 15th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
Hasn't Cox been struggling with an injury of some sort? If not then I suspect fumbles and/or decision making in practice has kept him down in the depth chart.
November 15th, 2010 at 2:39 PM ^
I beleive Rodriguez said that Cox has been suffering from a lingering knee injury, add that in with his inability to fully understand the playbook and stop running like he was in high school (runs too much east to west) has kept him from playing. I really hope that this winter he can really put in the practice time to be a contributor next year.
November 15th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
Learning the playbook might be one thing, but Cox doesn't go east and west any more than the other backs.
November 15th, 2010 at 3:55 PM ^
admitting you were wrong about him, huh? Does he have to graduate before that happens? Or will you continue to hold onto the theory that you are smarter than the coaches?
November 15th, 2010 at 2:52 PM ^
Cox didn't even travel to purdue, I saw him walking down state street on Friday nifht
November 15th, 2010 at 3:09 PM ^
this sounds like a cross-examination during a game of Clue.
November 15th, 2010 at 9:19 PM ^
In regards to Mike Cox having more speed and wiggle and being a bit smaller (Not to get all juvenile and sophomoric)
November 15th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
Maybe Toussaint will get some carries. He does average over 30 yards per carry, you know.
November 15th, 2010 at 5:40 PM ^
65/2 = AWESOME!
November 15th, 2010 at 2:55 PM ^
How weird is it that our most durable tailback has been a guy coming off knee surgery?
November 15th, 2010 at 6:06 PM ^
the smallest guy
November 15th, 2010 at 3:07 PM ^
I guess we will see more of Hopkins.
November 15th, 2010 at 3:18 PM ^
As soon as he got hit, and was shaken up, i immediately assumed concussion. That purdue player did help him up though.
November 15th, 2010 at 3:31 PM ^
but Denard manages to start every game? You'd think it'd be the opposite.
November 15th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
Tailbacks have to pass protect and serve as lead blockers. That's where a lot of injuries happen. They're also expected to fight for extra yardage a lot more. Denard is encouraged to step out of bounds and go down at initial contact. If a back does that, he'll get chewed out.
November 15th, 2010 at 3:46 PM ^
Fitz will take Shaw's place. I assume he should be full speed this week in practice. He did completely miss that block though, he just stood there...
November 15th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
Give it up with Fitz Toussaint, the guy is not gonna be some mysterious weapon thats unleashed to save the day for the next 2 games.
November 16th, 2010 at 10:56 AM ^
What do you have against the guy? Seriously. He played briefly in the Purdue game. With Shaw potentially out, he could see some action. Just saying, it's not out of the question for him to see a few plays.
