Shane Morris 7on7 Highlights

Tom just retweeted a tweet from Shane Morris where he linked this video. It's the highlights from the championship game at the IMG Madden 7on7 tournament. I really like the four touchdowns where he drops it right into the left corner of the end zone.
this in Bradenton? If so, this was right near my house. Shane reminds me of a better version of Chad Henne.
Yes it was Bradenton, Florida. Took place a little while ago though.
Where in Bradenton are you? We have a house on AMI.
No place better, IMO. Old Florida, no chain restaurants, no gated communities or ritzy high rise condos...
a place on Gladiolus for the past few years just in case you were wondering.
Haha nice, we are on Palm in the city of AM.
Yeah you're right about it being just right.
Trolley all day.
Threet?
You shut your mouth when you're talking about Chad Henne! :0)
But did anyone else see the tweet where Dee Hart might have tore his ACL in 7-on-7 drills?
angry michigan hating god has no jurisdictional limits
Yup, stopped in Tuscaloosa after a visit to Orlando earlier today at about 2:15...
This is unforunate. I don't care who he was playing for that kid could have been a good one. Not saying he wont now, but what are the chances Bama doesnt medical redshirt him>
that he stays all 4 years. With an arm like that, he will go very high in the draft after his Jr season.
I genuinely think that this guy could help out most teams as a freshman. And your telling me that he's not even a junior in high school? yeesh
5 targets? They were listed before but I haven't found it.
Had to be the one at the 3:43 mark into triple coverage. Whattttttttttttttttttttttttt.
Did seem like he didn't really go through all the reads though. Seemed like he found a guy at the snap and stayed w/ him. I think he only checked down 3-4 times in that video. But maybe it's just me. Can't argue w/ the results!!
He did seem to target only one guy for most plays.
Not a huge need for going through your progressions in 7 on 7 ball.
place on Anna Maria Island also. I may know you, but not too sure. ;)
GO BLUE!!
It just got awkward in here
Well I am impressed especially from a kid who is so young. Really excited to see this kid mature both in his physical body as well as his football skills. Does have a small "crow hop" in some of his throws and doesn't have the tightest ball at times.... That said I'm pretty sure we have a legit 5 star QB commit in the 2013 class.
And it is placed perfectly over the hands of the db and before the pylon where only the we can get to it.
I can see him throwing post corners for game-winning TDs wearing Maize and Blue like his idol Brady.
Ron Thompson had some nice grabs in this game. Shane Morris throwing the ball makes it look like the defense is at a huge disadvantage.
Dear lord that kid can place a ball. The windup might be a tad slow but he looks unbelievable. I take back everything I said about lefty QB's.
This is by no means an insult to Morris, who I think is going to be a good player...
...but I've seen very bad quarterbacks look great in 7-on-7's. Everything you see in those highlights should be taken with a grain of salt. Lots of kids can place a ball, find an open man, etc. when they're not facing a rush, when they're not faking a handoff, when they're not dropping back from under center, etc.
As for the person who thinks he's better than Chad Henne based on these highlights...yikes.
It's tough to say without the rush, but he did show a nice mix of zip, touch and ball placement. How tall is Morris? Hopefully 6 foot plus to avoid getting the ball swatted. I liked Henne but one of the problems he had was that although he was tall, he would squat a little when he threw the ball, and also throw it on a line, which would lead to more batted down passes.
If Morris can be relaxed in the pocket with a rush, he's going to be deadly.
Agreed about the Henne remark. Morris looks good but he has some work to do still. He is going to be a good QB in the future, but to say he is a 5* is a little bit of a stretch this early in the game for him, IMO.
What if I told you that based on the 7o7 highlights I think Morris is better than Tom Brady right now?
When asked where Morris will be ranked next year, Scott said he wasn't sure, but that he would be a top 10 guy this year. That makes him a five star.
I agree completely that it's easier in 7v7, so I'll just take it as a positive indication that a kid that young has such good touch at multiple distances.
From what I have heard he's not really that young. I think he was held back for athletic purposes. He should be going into his senior year. I don't think it effects the hype for him though he looks good regardless.
I agree that having a tall line and and defensive pressure in front of you can change a lot of things, but it is still impressive to see the variety of throws he made and the tough on them. Of course, that's edited and unless we were there in person we'll never know if he Navarred a couple 5 feet in front of the target but for a soph there's a lot to like there.
